Why on earth must you repeat yourself on a forum? I mean c'mon, if someone knows the answer and reads it, they will answer. If noone answers, noone knows the answer. You can bet your ass that someones tried it and failed though.

I'm not sure if that counts as an actual freeze. A freeze is only when the sound stops as well (such as in that Kabuki - Quantum Fighter video). I actually froze Super Mario Land 2 by using a glitch, a video of which I'll post soon...
You could say that the video has frozen. Sounds like a freeze to me.

I should probably give you a (somewhat outdated but functional) link to zophar's list then. I highly recommend LIPS. http://www.zophar.net/utilities/patchutil.html

And, what's a crc value?
Its a checksum. CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check. You could probably use SHA-1 or MD5 but I think theres a CRC checker in the emulator or something. I don't know.

Try a different IPS patcher. I think I remember seeing you using a Mac, so theres one on this page: http://www.tildesoft.com/Programs.html Failing that you could always just copy over the patched rom onto that computer..

Banjo-Kazooie uses a series of input built-in rather than anything complicated like actor positioning, as is probably likely with most 'modern' games. An interesting way to mess with this is that there are codes in PJ64 to make the game think you are always on a spring pad or flying pad. I haven't seen if its possible to die in a demo in this game but you never know..

Yes vote, though I'm not too sure about some of the camera angles (Bowser in the sky and the clicky inny-outy when you first enter the castle. blech). Bowser in the fire sea and the battle were nice. Good job.

Perhaps your best bet would be to make a loosely optimized run of a game, then when thats done, break it up into little sections and try to optimize each section. This will probably make things much easier for you. Of course you'll have to experiment also, seeing if you can push the game's limits to the edge and over. For the record, your TAS of OoT is better than anything I would be able to produce.

The Zboard supports 7 keypresses at once. Thats about as close as I could get to a keyboard which people here require.

Question is though... would you have posted any different regardless of what I corrected?

Unfortunately due to your quick and decisive posting, you actually misquoted me BEFORE I managed to edit into my post (which was around 1min after) into stating that I don't actually know the code. I was hoping that you'd notice before you started quoting me left right and center.

To which a more secretive response would be something like "I'm aware of this code's existance, but I have been told that its being kept secret and as such wouldn't go down well being displayed in a TAS" Sorry I indirectly got you in trouble :)

Well I did state I was going to do recordings from now on with Super music off. Simply because it can get repetitive and boring. However when I began and re-began this recording. I forgot BOTH times to turn it off. So for the purpose of this one recording, I'm afraid you have to turn it on. As for the save-state. it doesn't restore the preferences. I don't know why, don't ask. If it did, I wouldn't have to post my own SRM file up would I? people would've been able to use the save-state. I was hoping that it would be the but it seems not as everyone was desyncing.
I'm a bit sketchy on gmv specs, but if it records resets I would request starting from blank SRAM and changing all the game settings in the gmv rather than savestates and srm everywhere which just causes agrovation :( Also please reread my post, I edited it with a couple more questions.

First of all, I'm not sure about you but I find the whole jumping through hoops to play a tas quite annoying. Why could all the settings and such not be in the provided savestate and saveram? why do I have to turn on super sonic music when it should already be enabled? I have to say that while using sonics flying ability is fun when playing, I'm afraid its quite boring when watching the screen just flying by. But congratulations on curbing my curiosity on what such a run would look like :) Edit: Also, why do you take damage in the springyard place? Then theres this:

[Edit2]"Extra Mode" SRM file for those that want to give these recordings an attempt anyway. Has Extra unlocked for All 3 current characters. It also has the settings required set, (Control Scheme Extended, Super music Off, Spike Bug Off, Speed Cap Off, Camera Style Extended) First post has been edited to supply this also.[/Edit2]
Super music should be on. I think thats about enough criticism from me today \o/

This topic is going nowhere slowly in regards to climbing out of the gutter. Requesting a lock/merge because as BoMF said, we already have two others.

VLC Player or FFDShow Codec. Just FYI, the video is encoded using H264 (like almost all AVIs on this site)

And I have stressed many times that it's not speed ("faster") that's important. It's "better". "Basic example: We have two movies avaliable, one is better than the other. We choose the better one."
And herein lies a problem; 'better' is a very varied matter of opinion (especially in this case), whereas 'faster' is not. Personally I do not agree with the publication of this movie. Although it is faster than the previous run, it can be optimized far more if attempted. If P.DOT decides to correct any mistakes made and optimize it well, I'll vote yes.

The first two somehow useful abilities which come to my mind are: 1. Some downward thrust while doing the heli-thingy, since his vertical movement is so limited while spinning. This might also motivate people to not just fly over levels. 2. Since Tails will mostly fly over levels, he will also not collect many rings. Shooting enemies could be rewarded with some 5ish extra rings.
I had a good idea yesterday. Perhaps an enhancement to his flying form. If you remember in the doomsday zone (S3&K) sonic could dart around in various directions. It might be interesting if this were added as some sort of level-flying speed boost that massively increases ring consumption (but not enough to make ring collection tedious.
