I'm sorry, I have to vote no. While this was technically a (near-)perfect run, I found it almost completely lacked the flair and magic of Genisto's run. Maybe I'm biased against the version-switch, I don't know. I was a huge fan of this game back in the day, and have played it through on cartridge and emulator several times. And still I had to force myself to watch this to the end. Again, I'm sorry, but I was not entertained.

Agreed. Personally, I liked the first speedrun of BahB a lot more than the current version, mainly because it shows off the weird stuff the blob can do :P Also, with the current amount of found bugs/glitches, I'd say there's a substantial demand for a 100% run, and it'd be interesting enough to attract people.

Ya, that's it :P Visible in the submission page. //Edit1: Or possibly a different screenshot picked by the author, or maybe the title screen of the game.

This is a small thing... but IMO when reading the submission it'd be nice to have the screenshot listed there as well. Opinions?

Nice missile dodging. Too bad the 'falling' scenes seem to be bugged, did they work properly in the actual cartridge version? Especially loved the stage names, bowels of hell, poisoned continent etc :P

Interesting concept, well-executed run. Easy yes. After the first few levels (which you have to admit, Jxq had down pretty much pat), this run really takes off. Pretty much everyone who loved this game first went through the hard levels by just flying over (me? guilty as charged), then when his/her skills grew, ended up playing them through 'running, not flying'. Excellent tribute to all players who love the game. Kudos thegreg+skamast. Some questions: In Donut Secret 1a, it looks like you slow down a bit after the second creepy fish (I forget the name) wakes up. Is this unavoidable? Likewise, in Donut Plains 3 (and vanilla dome 1, and probably lots of other places, too) there's a slight slowing down just before you grab a shell. Is this unavoidable? Can you do walljumps at non-TAS play? Consistently? What's the window, 1-2 frames? ;) Comments: Jawdroppers+wtf's @ Star Road 3+5b, Tubular, Way Cool, Donut Plains 2 a+b, Donut Secret House a+b, Loved the mario-chasing block at Funky, and was quite surprised at how deeply ingrained the 'yay, halfway goal, big size and... hey, why're you not taking it!' -attitude was:P

I'm surprised this didn't beat the morimoto movie by more than 19 seconds... you walk through walls AND have a different route... (J) vs (U) version differences, maybe?

The screenshot looks like Spidey is buying some drugs off the shady character :P Yes vote, looks fast. Can you take more damage to save more time? Also, refreshing lack of glitches :P

Totally awesome bombings, passing through walls and killing rooms ludicrously fast. I wuv'd the last few rooms' spinning hits and red link @ movie end :P Also, kudos for optimizing bombs, keys AND money 100%. I choked water through my nose when you didn't take the skeleton key and killed the rhino boss with just one bomb. Just one question: Why do you take the fairy at the end of level 1? Is it faster than letting the life gauge fill up on its own? Or do you like fairy violence? Needless to say, I voted YES ^_^

I'll join my voice in voting for staying with the (U) version. Assuming you lose 4-5 seconds for every minute, that's 1170 seconds(20 minutes). Does that take into account PAL/NTSC speed differences? And even so, most of the community here is English-speaking, and I'm betting a (J) run, no matter how optimized wouldn't obsolete your old run. It would probably end up being another Bionic Commando, and I don't think anyone wants that :P But still, if you're *still* behind after 60 minutes I can see how vexing that might be. To change the topic, isn't there any way to change the text speed in CT ?

I never meant to claim that hero's run was sloppy or that unassisted runners were in some kind of competition with TASers. I just thought that with the tools available, a TAS should never be slower than an unassisted run.
Well... as the text scrolls 50% faster, and a LOT of the game is text, you can easily save a good half hour (or an hour) in texts alone. Personally, while I haven't watched the SDA version, neither have I managed to watch through the whole HotD run, either(mostly on account of all the text I know by heart). I'm a huge fan of the game, and having played both (J) and (U) versions through at least a dozen times (all endings, then all endings in the japanese version), I believe that the (J) and (U) versions complete each other a lot. Also, the movie was published in 2005. Techniques and tools in use today are far more advanced, and I believe that HotD's new run will kick ass and take names :P Sadly, I must still refrain from voting on this TAS. PS: I seem to remember something about a way to skip Marle's candy scene. Will this be used in the new run?

I remember playing the arcade game WAY back when. Strangely enough, it was very different despite having almost exact graphics and attacks. You already answered any questions I might have had, and I had some serious LOL moments (generally around dancing zombies and guards), Michael saving kids from trunks and, last but no least, a total WTF moment when Michael... became メカMichael.

Yes yes yes! Impressive run, done with even more impressive skill. I first watched the run, wondered how you managed to have full engine, full shot and the game mentioned 30(or was it 100) races, then checked the submission. While I might be inclined to think that using a password does not constitute as good policy, in this case it's probably for the best. I highly doubt that a 30-race run would be at all entertaining, but personally I'd like to see the first few rounds TASed (mainly the getting of said full engine+shot). I also believe that this would give us a chance to see a bit more of the computer players than a small glimpse every now and then when the camera passes over them randomly :P

Awesome. Absolutely incredible. You, sir, have reached a pinnacle of TASing that will not be overcome for a long time to come. I am in awe.

I've heard about the game but never played it. Would it be possible to make a joint SMB2-Doki Doki Panic speedrun with a single input? ;)

As a concept... incredible. Entertainment value? Excluding the horrible sounds (how about mixing & matching (like, say, pick one stage music to play with and then change to the first boss that comes along. It would really help with perceiving this to be a joint-TAS). I still have to join my voice with those who think this doesn't really look like it's being played with a single input. Mostly it looks like 4 megaman games being played like a race... with the occasional getting stuck to a wall and jumping randomly. :P Maybe an animated NES pad in the center with lights to display when a button is being pressed? I was thinking about this when I saw the megamanx+megamanx2 one.

Amazing... never thought I'd like this video, considering all the hours I spent just trying to get to that darned castle :P Kudos dude, superb. I doubt anyone could do better even if they shave frames. //Edit1: Amazed by this, I went and checked out the 96-exit version. Are there plans to redo that with the flying into doors glitch? It'd save time in several instances even I can spot.

CRC32: B64FFB12 [X] Use WIP1 Timing [X] Allow Left+Right / Up+Down [X] Volume Envelope Height Reading [ ] Fake Mute desync workaround [ ] Sync samples with sound CPU It works perfectly fine until the hand reaches up and grabs Belmont.

Would it be possible to find out the SHA/MD5 checksum of the used file, or alternatively the "right" settings for this? I'm getting a desync in the second level where the current Belmont (I forget which ;) ) gets stuck in a hand that sprouts from the ground. In the .avi movie it appears that Belmont throws a vial of holy water at it, suggesting up+down or similar, but up+down fix doesn't work :/
