I'm not saying that the video is boring, I'm saying that I don't agree with the nature of the cheat code that is used. I don't think that this game should get treated any differently than any other run on this board, that's all. If other games can't use stage select cheats in them, then why should this game?

The select trick for Link's Awakening is a well-known glitch, not an actual cheat code. Anyway, because of the nature of the cheat code, i'm going to have to vote "No", regardless of if it replaces an FMV or not. Stage select cheats don't belong in TAS runs. If they did belong, then why don't we use them for all the games that have them and just skip to the last level? The reason? It's boring. I'd rather see ALL the levels played rather than just the last level.

It's been discussed, but no one's really done much with this. I think this is the third thread on this? Aw hell, maybe someone should just do a run of this to make people shush about it. I dunno, just get to Tetris the fastest and make the biggest score as possible. I don't know how it'll work.

Hey, ugly runs are alright too, since it actually gives us something to look at and perhaps ways to find shortcuts and stuff. We are the plastic surgeons of ugly runs! I'll take a look at this and see if there's any input I notice, hopefully tonight if I get my stupid homework done at a reasonable hour. =D;

Try Webpost if you just need 1MB of space. I used to use it all the time as an image host, and actually, I still do on occasion. I look forward to seeing this Deadly Towers run. I liked the last one quite a bit.

Keep it up, man! I've been lookin' to see someone play the game, but the fortress escape parts always made me to rushed to think clearly as to where to go. n_n;

It would be cool to see, but I don't know if people would get tired of me doing the same ol' schtick for 90+ minutes in order to attain that score. If the game was actually separated into stages or something, I'd be going on a mad dash to get this baby done and get it to the end and call it my first TAS. The only true way out is "Game Over", but then that'd just be another matter of finding out when to kill myself. Oyez, nothing is ever simple in these things. @_@

Thanks for the idea! I'll have to try and do it at the end of the run. It takes a little while for the tire popping cars to start pulling out the blades in their wheels, and plus I can't shoot, so it'd be a sweet trick to pull off at the end of the run. Or, now that I think of it, I wonder if doing that, and then making it into a truck would fix things. Now to just find something to be accomplished. I'd go for trying to hit 1,000,000 points, but I fear that would take about an hour and a half.

I did a second movie to try out some different tricks, including shooting Motorcycles at the very last second to make them move, and just try to make things more entertaining. I don't think there's a way to make cars and stuff appear at this moment, as shooting hasn't really resulted in much, though moving differently seems to do something, although I have no idea how it works yet. I still don't really know of a goal to reach either. Does anyone have any idea what I could do for a game like this? Anyway, here is the new movie. This one's 1:25 and it does stop mid-way, but this, once again, is only a test movie to garner some ideas for a real one. www.freewebs.com/rickcressen/spy_hunter_tas.fcm

I believe Super Spy Hunter is a different game altogether. Anyway the random shots fired were to try and manipulate luck. I think I was successful in getting the cars to appear, but I'd have to do more testing on that to say for certain if it worked or not. While I was doing the frame-by-frame bit too, it was difficult for me to tell if I was going at top speed or not, therefore the changes in speed were in that video. Going into those trucks was necessary only for the sake of more entertainment, since you can't get weapons any other way. I finally fixed the link to the video too.

Well, it's not really much of a time-attack seeing as how the game goes on forever, but here: http://www.freewebs.com/rickcressen/spy_hunter_(u).fcm I wanted to go for some entertainment and go as fast as I could to learn some things about this game. I tried some random shooting to see if it manipulated luck. I tried playing around with the enemy cars and tried to be as interesting as I could. My biggest problem though is that I don't really know what kind of goal to achieve. I end the movie at about 2:43, soon after I switch to the boat because I got tired of doing it for the moment and I knew it was going to be a test movie. Thoughts, comments, concerns? If there's enough interest in doing something with this, maybe I can make this my first-ever submission once I get the movie re-made.[/url]

I acutally didn't know about this hack until it was brought up here. I suck like that, though.

I like this movie a lot better than the other movie, where we can actually see the route being played instead of just seeing a big bomb-collecting fest. I give this one a yes!

Wow, I'm glad this is being looked at more! And I thought I knew almost everything there was to know about this game. =P I do know this game still has some of the things from the PC version in this game, such as the No Clipping mode and Third-Person view available through gameshark, so it doesn't surprise me that this is still a lot like the PC version. I'll keep up with what you guys find and see if I can offer any more shortcuts.

I've been looking around for a site like that. I'm not looking for hardware specs or pictures of the cart, that's all useless to me. I'm looking for the actual comparisons as to the beta game and the final for some NES games where the Prototype of a released game ROM has been found and has been looked at for the differences. I remember seeing a site like this before too, but it got lost in my many reformats of the comp. Can anyone lend a hand? I'm not looking for ROMs, just comparisons.

I think if I remember right, the prior movie was just killed off pretty quickly due to it not being up to par with the standards. Of course, this is my memory we're talking about here. =P But as for the ghost, it's funny because it seems like every few minutes that I play the game, that music cuts in and he slowly makes his ugly self appear. The ghost is killable, but I just hate the music that goes along with it, even though it's like, the first little bit of the Wizards and Warriors boss theme replayed over and over again with a long stop. (Yeah, I know that Spelunker came out first, but still. n_n;)

That's interesting in itself that you can actually get somewhere in the game. Keep that up, man. By the way, how did you keep the ghost from appearing? I can never seem to get it to stay away.

Well I"m out of the running for any sign-ups unless someone needs a planner. Despite being here for a year and a half, I've never once made a TAS. Only one crappy attempt that never really got off the ground.

I personaly find the game un-bear-ably stupid. (Har har, I made a pun.) So yeah, I don't know if it'd really be worth doing just because the game is so simple and extremely stupid, as I reviewed it on GameFAQs here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/review/R65137.html

Don't worry, the first rule of either side is to not talk about feitclub('s abilities) , so you've got a clean slate either way. =D Mayhaps we could form a team!

I'll see if I can give it a shot after I finish a site translation project, but I can guarantee that someone is going to finish this in two days, send it in, and BAM! Done before I even get to start.

I think that it's actually an intended cheat feature rather than a glitch in the game, therefore, no one's really bothered to use it.
