Personally, I'd just rather not see the mudslinging at all, period. This forum just isn't really the place for it.

I think it's a good movie and it's got a lot of potential, but personally, just going through those rooms and getting the bombs like that just got dull after a little while. I think it has potential, but I just vote "Meh".

I don't think that everyone has the ability to use RAR files without having to download WinRAR or something. Zip files are a completely different story, however.

shouldn't you be using V1.0?
Maybe, maybe not. I believe when I was playing this game, I was having a glitch where I was unable to use any animal buddy. I believe that was 1.0, and it got fixed in 1.1 when I tried it for some reason. Or it could be the other way around. When I get home, I'll try this again, beceause I did know there was something screwy with one of the versions I downloaded of the game.

Yeah, he does get fairly busy with stuff. I talk with him on instant messenger sometimes. If I see him on again, I'll ask him about it and let you know what he says.

Call me bizarre for this, but I like the final boss of Metamorphic Force for the arcade. The fellow just does not understand the term "die" and has three fairly tricky forms. The game itself is rather weird and cartoony, but it really improves on what X-Men didn't. Thank you, Konami! The voice acting is still bad, though. XD

I just remembered another thing I found. And it has to do with Plasmo's trick in Flood Zone where he mentioned he didn't have to use the Vitamin X to slip through the door, but it was unpredictable. I think this glitch has to also do with the same trick of going through the vents in Hotel Hell. I managed to pull this glitch off a few times, but got trapped in the building area. I'm starting to think even more that strafing is very glitchy for some reason, because it always seems to let you go through some things you shouldn't. I really can't understand the behavior for this, but I think that there's a small chance that this glitch could be used a little more practically in a speed run.

Well I could do that, but it won't play in Flash. =P I just need to rip the sound effects somehow or just find a place to download them regularly.

I actually meant to tell you that you can jump on top of the other player in co-op, and you also can jump on top of enemies too, if you're feeling lucky. I forgot to mention it. By the way, because I'm not very search-savvy, what other projects are you workin' on at the moment?

I'm going to be bringing back the site that I used to run back from 2000 to 2002...however, I shall be doing it in Flash as my class project! The site is Game Genie Code Oddities. Perhaps some of you may have heard of the site. Anyhoo, I was wondering if someone knew of a place where I could get the Game Genie sounds, or how I could rip them myself so they're in .wav format? I need to use sounds in the project and I have no idea where or what to use to get them. Thanks bundles, amigos!

FODA, you rule man. n_n There is no 4-Player co-operative mode unfortunately, but there is the 2-Player co-op. I'm keeping an eye out for some shibby tricks if there's ever a co-op version decided upon. And you were right, Plasmo. I searched everywhere and there wasn't a jetpack. I'm not giving up yet, I'm gonna see if I can jump on top of an enemy's head to get enough height to jump up to the bridge somehow. Where there's a will, there's a way! I'll see if there's also some Vitamin X in Toxic Dump before the halfway point in the level. I also found some Dum Dum bullets in the secret passageway where you move the bed. Y'know, it's the one at the end where Duke says "I guess he didn't escape from L.A." I'm starting to think there's a clip in every level, and I'm gonna put that theory to the test.

Oh, crap. That's right. I forgot entirely about that. I need a strategy re-think now. I'll get back to you on that.

I'm not entirely sure of all the Dum Dum locations, but I know there's enough in each part of the game where you should be able to collect them no problem. When I get home tonight, I'll take a half hour and look through all the stages for Dum Dum bullets. I do know in Gun Crazy, in the gun shop area, there's a little poster behind the counter that has Dum Dum bullets in it. There's also Dum Dums in Hollywood Holocaust if you take the teleporter like you would the convenience store and open the shelf in the office area. They're lying around, the trick is just to find them...at least for the first two bosses. I know killing the Battlelord is less than two clips, and the Overlord takes somewhere over two clips. I'll have to re-check it. At some point too, I'll make a much better Secret Areas FAQ. As for the Death Row thing, I thought you did have some jetpack fuel remaining. Funky. o_O However, now that I think about it, there's probably a better way to go about this. You'll have to find a quick out of the way place to refuel the jetpack, but you can definitely take a quick stop in the bathroom of Gun Crazy to get the Vitamin X in that secret area. It may not save as much time as you're thinking, but I still think it saves at least five seconds or more. The trick now, I think, is just finding where to refuel the jetpack before then. For the plasma gun, I think that in quick bursts, it's a fairly good weapon to use in areas where there's enemies around a crack you have to blow up, or just for blowing up cracks in general because one uncharged shot blows them up and there's no lag time if you need to shoot again unless you're charging your shot. I must say too, on the Piece Of Cake difficulty, I was honestly surprised at how little the explosive droids did in terms of damage. o_o

http://www.super-play.co.uk/index.php?superplay=142 I give you, the first-ever speedrun of Duke Nukem 64...EVER! However, this isn't done by me, this is done from a buddy of mine, Gordian from the GameFAQs boards. It's about 28 minutes long and plays on the "Piece of Cake!" level. From studying the routes that I wrote up, and that he found, here's the major differences: General: Use of Vitamin X, which I did not use in my run. Use of SMGs is prevalant. Hollywood Holocaust: Stops to pick up more items. Good idea, actually. Death Row: He picks up both the yellow and red keycards, which I really don't believe is necessary. Toxic Dump: Uses a Multiplayer teleporter to skip about half the level entirely! The Abyss: Goes a different way at the beginning to get to the San Andreas Fault monument. Does NOT use the shrinker at all. Instead, he goes around to the spot where you'd normally go after going through the hole when shrunken. Tiberus Station: I don't quite feel it's required to grab the blue keycard. Raw Meat: He doesn't grab the red keycard before the blue, which takes more time than my route. Flood Zone: He sure found a route that beat my non-squish route by a ton. He also shows why you shouldn't try to land on land when you fall down the long hole that goes to the Nukem button. =D Bosses: He should've at least stocked up on Dum Dum bullets, IMO. It's the thing I know is the fastest to kill anything except the Cycloid Emperor (final boss), and even if they dont' kill the last boss, they take off at least a good chunk of his health.

Alrighty, I've had to do a few level route fixings, since I noticed I could make a couple levels faster after re-reading my own FAQ. I also did a test console speed run with an all-levels run on "Come Get Some!" difficulty with a few cheats on. Some other things I can add is that there will be some slowdown, explosive weapons are highly, highly important, and Battlelords suck. I managed to get a rough time of about 35 minutes on the console. I also got a run with the same settings (Except on Piece of Cake difficulty instead) or 28 minutes. ---DUKE BURGER--- 1. Blast the crack in the wall near the canisters with an explosive weapon and go through it. 2. Leave the alley and turn left, You should see the drive-through window with a slanted vent. Actually jump on the slanted vent, and jump into the wall! Go through the exit inside this secret area. 3. Turn right, then take a left in the corridor and grab the keycard. Exit and use the card on the other side, and go in the door. 4. Follow the conveyor belt to the very end and jump on the left platform. 5. Go into the big meat room, and look around on the right side of where you enter, at the end of the room, for a passageway. Look around there for an office room. 6. Go behind the desk in the office, crouch, and activate the switch. Go into the newly-opened door. 7. Bee-Line toward the Nukem button and you'll get captured! Since you have to wait to exit the level, save the babe for fun since it won't cost you any time. ---TIBERUS STATION--- 1. Shoot out the vent, being wary of the slimes, and hop out. Shoot the switch ahead of you with the pistol, and jump out towards the door. 2. Follow the path to the next room. 3. Take out the explosive homing droids and use the jetpack to fly up to the bridge. Take the door on your right first. 4. You'll end up seeing a balcony on your left overlooking a pool of toxic water. Jump onto the ledge, then crawl through the opening and into the pool. 5. Immediately after you go underwater, turn right a little and grab the red keycard. Switch to your jetpack, activate it, and fly out of the water facing where you got the keycard. 6. Fly back the way you jumped up, and go back through the door. Go to the red keycard slot and unlock the door. Go on in! 7. Big fightin' time! Yeah, these shortcuts so far suck with a big battle, don't they? You have one Battlelord and some Octobrains and various misc. things to fight. If you feel bold, just blow up the gas canisters and go through the vent. 8. In the vent is those slimes. The easiest way to get past slimes in the vent is to just hold down the kick button as you crawl through. When you g get to the end, jump up and follow the vent out. The Nukem button is on your right. Try to ignore the enemies there, knock off the glass, and hit it.

I might as well post a few more little tricks and tips just in general that could be useful. In Hotel Hell, I managed to slip into the vent without breaking open the grate! What you do is turn to the side of the vent while standing on the vent area, turn 90 from the vent, crouch, then strafe right through it! I figure it might work on other vents, and you can't use the same way back out, but it might save some time. While using the jetpack, you can't go underwater. However, you can activate the jetpack underwater. I mentioned it in a few points in the walkthrough, but I didn't know if it was a clear thing. I've found Dum Dum bullets for the pistol to be one of the best weapons to use in the game in terms of damage, but you can only store three clips of them. However, three clips is more than enough to take down EVERYTHING..except unfortunately, the final boss, but they still take down a huge chunk of his health. As a small aside, later on, I'm going to go through and study more in-depth where you can find Dum Dum bullets and jetpack refueling, as those might be important. Battlelords can't seem to be shot in a "waiting" state. Waiting, that is, when you can see them, but they don't notice you. I tried firing round after round of the grenade launcher at one of them in the Lunar Reactor level (the one after you go through the blue keycard room), but I couldn't get him to insta-attack me. Laser tripbombs may have a use to thwart enemy traps beforehand. In fact, it might be quite a help to clear out enemies so you don't get hurt so much. A great example I can think to use them in is in Dark Side, because when you get the yellow keycard, there'll be at least twenty enemies waiting for you (on the "Come Get Some/Damn I'm Good" difficulty, which I assume would probably be used) As odd as this may sound too, Duke's "Mighty Foot" definitely has one good use in a speed run. Use it anytime you're in a vent with the slime things in them. It's the absolute fastest way to kill them in a vent, and they don't even touch you. Another thing about the slimes is that they'll actually eat other enemies! They'll eat most of the lower-level things, and I've even seen them eat Alien Beasts before! I don't know if they'll eat Battlelords or Assault Captains (the ones the fire missiles, they may be mislabeled in that guide, and I'm not about to fix it now), however, but it might be worth having them kept around. Don't forget that the splash radius of an explosive weapon goes through force fields! I'm pondering about the use of Vitamin X too. I don't know how often one would have to go out of their way to get it, but it does give a temporary speed increase when used, which would make the runs even faster. I'll stick that on my list of things to check. And now that I think of it, I almost think I need to re-write my Duke Burger strategy. I completely forgot of a shortcut inside without the need of the blue keycard! I'll have to test it when I get back to my apartment sometime later this weekend. The shrinker and expander weapons are the only two weapons I consider useless in a speed run. The holoduke isn't needed at all, even in a non-speed run, and the night vision goggles aren't really necessary in a speed run, since you'll know exactly how to get through all the dark places anyway. That's all I got for now.

And now to finish up the last five levels! ---RABID TRANSIT--- This is the second and only level where using the "Invincibile Squish" is beneficial for a shortcut. Basically, whenever you take the moving car, what you do is you try to force yourself through a certain revolving door the wrong way. The particular door you'd use is the right-most one when you begin the level, or the left-most one after the beginning. I won't list this strategy, but it will be obvious when you'd use it once you look at the run and have a small idea of where it would take you. If you're lucky with this, and you can catch the car, you'll actually teleport yourself right to the other side of the level! 1. Immediately exit and run to the subway car. Get in, and wait for it to go to the other side. Might be beneficial to kill off the enemies and the laser tripbombs before entering. Take the car to the other side of the level. 2. Get off and blow up the crack in the wall. Go inside and get the blue keycard, and clear things out. 3. Take the car back to where you came, and get off at the newsstand. Instead of taking the revolving doors, go through the left corridor. and around the front of the blue train. Kill off the enemies there and open the doors up with the blue keycard. 4. It's gonna get tough again, folks. Kill off the Battlelord and Alien Beast at the top and get the red keycard they protect. 5. Go back on the train, but instead of going all the way, there's an alcove on the right you can hop out of. In fact, you have to get out that way! Get off, pick up the missile launcher near the door, clear the hallway, and use the red keycard on the door. 6. Go into the door and immediately hop into the middle of the room while turning around. You'll go underwater. Kill the Octobrains and go through the passage, and surface. Hit the Nukem button at the end of the cave! ---FAHRENHEIT--- 1. Exit the sewer and go straight, then left. You'll come to a cement wall place. Use the jetpack to fly up and over it, and land on the other side. 2. Go into the fire station on the left side and blow up the left wall. Go on inside. 3. Go up the stairs, then go straight ahead, and turn right. Turn right again and you'l see a switch on the opposite wall. Press it and strafe left slightly, going down the pole. You'll get the yellow keycard automatically at the bottom of the pole, if you're in the right place. 4. Turn left and exit, and go straight until you see the door. Then turn right and go to the radio station door. Watch out for the ambush at the door! Use the yellow keycard on the door and go inside. 5. Go up the stairs, turn around, and take the left side. At the end of the small hallway is a door. Open it up, kill the Alien Beast inside, and grab the red keycard. 6. Exit the room, and take the door to the right of the double-doors. You'll now be outside. Use your jetpack, turn right, and fly over the first wall and turn the jetpack off. You'll land in the water. Turn to the right and fight off the octobrains, then surface where they were. Use the red keycard on the door (NOTE: If you want, get the blue keycard for kicks, but you don't need it. It's just in front of the red keycard door. =D) 7. Uh oh, trouble. There's two Battlelords in there and a couple other enemies. Kill them, then blow up the crack high on the wall. Follow the path that's blown up and hit the Nukem button! ---HOTEL HELL--- Super Shortcut #6! And like the Movie Set, if you're doing an all-levels run, you can't do this shortcut. Bummer! 1A. At the beginning, you'll need an Explosive Shotgun Shell. Turn right with the shotgun equipped with those bullets, and aim in the crack. Get a clear shot at the Nukem button, and fire. You'll blow the wall up in front of you! Just hop in and hit the Nukem button. =D 1B. Exit the area and immediately turn right and use your jetpack. Fly up to get the blue keycard, and hop down. Turn right, and go to where the dumpster is, and turn left. Use the blue keycard on the door. 2. Follow the hall and there'll be an explosion with two pig cops coming out. Take care of them if need-be, but turn left as soon as you turn in the hallway, and you'll see an exit door. Take that exit and go outside. Follow the street to the end with the strange windows. 3. When you get close, the windows will open up automatically, and also release enemies out. Kill them all, especially the Alien Beast that may not notice you at first, and go inside. On the right wall when you enter, get close to it and an Assault Captain will assault you. Kill it, then grab the yellow keycard and the missile launcher in this room (You'll need all the firepower you can get in the next level.). 4. Run back around the way you came in, and use the yellow keycard on the elevator door. Go up the elevator and straight ahead past the bar, then turn left to see the pool. Go in the pool but don't go underwater. Instead, go into the waterfall. 5. You'll be teleported off to some place. Go straight, until you're close to the bloody handprint, then turn. Go through the trees and hit the secret Nukem button. ---FREEWAY--- 1. Swim through the opening in the gate, surface, then fly up the hole in the ceiling. 2. Turn left and fly up and forward, into the left building. It's the building with the black conveyor belts that drop you out of the building. Get inside and prepare for a nasty ambush! Get to the end of the room and hit the switch on the right. Clear out the enemies and grab the red keycard. 3. Get out of there, but fly out. Keep along the right side until you get to an alley. Drop yourself off behind the car and use the red keycard immediately. Go through the door, quickly kill the resistance and blow up the crack in the wall. Hit the Nukem button at the end. (You wanna do this quick or the Battlelord and/or Overlord clones will frag you from behind.) ---STADIUM--- This final boss fight is like fighting a humongous version of the Overlord. This guy is tough in terms of damage he can take, but he can only move on the football field. Use this to your advantage! Constantly circle around him and fire with everythign you've got until he kicks the bucket! Congratulations! You've finished the game quickly! ---FINAL RUN THOUGHTS--- Like I stated before, this route doesn't even touch much upon weapons or ammo, enemy placement, damage taken, and jetpack availablility. Further testing (which I just don't have the time for right now) will be required to modify the runs. I will not be TASing the game either, due to time contraints and my lack of knowledge with TAS's. My prediction is that in a non-all level run, this game can be completed in under half an hour. A all-levels run would probably be under 40 minutes. A co-operative game could be possible too, depending on if people aren't going to be bothered by a split-screen view. I could look for places where two players could be better than one, but that's all I'd have time to do. I hope this run inspires someone to actually do this. The heavy planning has been done! The modifications and actually doing it have to be done now, and even then I'm looking around for Duke Nukem 64/Duke Nukem 3D Speed Run videos (that aren't demo files beecause I don't know how to work those). The heavy planning is being taken off you guys. n_n

It can be hard to follow with the split screen, and while I assume there's a lot of shortcuts in that fashion, I don't know how many more I can find for co-op stuff. I have the cart, but I don't have another player most of the time. It would be a good alternate run to go along with the "All Levels" run.

It is, for the most part, a port, but the designers also added and took out some things in the game, so it's still quite fresh. Especially with a Multiplayer mode which allows you to play against the computer (albeit it's very basic, it's still cool.) and you can even play a two-player co-op! It's the first N64 game I knew about that could let you do both of those things. The game was released around the time Goldeneye was, if I'm not mistaken. Sadly, the game got overshadowed by that, but it's still a great port anyway.

I'm only playing through the levels with cheating to find all the fast routes. Other than that, I just haven't the time to dedicate to actually doing a TAS on this game, as much as I'd absolutely love to do this game. However, I'm happy enough with just doing a truckload of route planning. I think that's where my niche is on this site. n_n I don't think anyone's going to pick this one up to do a TAS until all the more popular games are completed (I.E. Mario 64, Goldeneye, etc.) just because they're a lot more well known.
