I'm in Maine. If you said you were going there, I'd be all "What the fuck?!"

This was one of the funniest runs I've seen in ages. MK glitches always make me laugh, and the 'broken Friendship' was just priceless. XD YES all the way.
And it's actually surprisingly easy to pull off in real time as well. Just get to round two with the "Quick Finishers" code on, and make sure the person who lost the first round wins the second. Now you can do a whole bunch of shenanigans!

Here's all my notes from the game. I love note-dumping! --- Basics: 1.) There are 11 warp points in the game found in different rooms of the house in the "Shadowgate" portion of the game. The first one, which can be found entering a special door in the third room, then opening a window in the room you go into, can be entered without any special equipment. The rest of them need the item you get at the en of the level in order to enter. 2.) There is no real specific "order" the levels can be completed in. One of the levels requires the air helmet in order to go anywhere in, but all of the levels can be accessed in any order, regardless of if you have the item needed to progress further or not. 3.) Weapons are good. Here's what you can get: Knife: You start with it. The damage is poor, it's got short range. Only real good use is on the first boss, as far as I'm aware. Pistol: Long-range, slow rate of fire, does OK damage. Much better than the knife. Machine Gun: Higher rate of fire, does a bit more damage. Grenades: Good damage, and damages everything on the screen, including you. Great on the second boss, and has another practical use, listed later. All items can be uncovered in the first-person Shadowgate-esque rooms. 4.) All the bosses in the game must be defeated. The first ten bosses hold parts of the laser which you need to kill the final boss with. Other: 1.) Enemies can give a height boost if needed, and if timed just right, during a jump. Can help to get onto higher ledges. 2.) Super Jump (found by andrewg): Hold "A" for 1 frame. Hold "Start" for 1 frame. Do nothing for 1 frame. Press "Start" for 1 frame. Press "A" again for 1 frame. Pause & Unpause every other frame (?) This will give a big jumping boost, which could possibly render the jumping shoes a moot item. 3.) It is mostly faster, from what I notice, to suicide with a grenade, die, and go back to the beginning of the game after killing a boss than to do what the game wants you to do and walk yourself back out of the level after killing the boss. All collected weapons will be lost, but you will still keep the laser parts and other important items. Pistol Ammo, Machine Gun Ammo, and Grenades will have to be re-collected though. The only way I see this not being a time saver is if, for whatever weird-ass reason, sticking around on one side of the house is faster than dying and getting back there again. I can't see how that would be though. 4.) Some bosses are immune to some weapons. Good example? First level boss. Not only is it immune to bullets, but its health will increase if you shoot it. Grenades work on only a couple bosses. Boss health will need to be closely monitored in this TAS, because aside from a couple bosses, at this moment I don't know what weapon would work best on each.

OK, unfortunately, no luck with Avidemux so far. I'm trying to figure it out here, but PSP just seems to really, really like one very specific format that 3GP converter is properly converting it to, and it's beginning to really piss me off, because it halves the frame rate and bumps the file size up for no good reason. I can't really figure out why 3GP Converter is the only one that works. It makes no sense to me. I'll keep trying, but for now, that's all I got. I also got a Mortal Kombat II encode I have to upload, that I'll do later.

That seems about right, it is messing with the Battle Plan. I've noticed on the battle plans that it seems to be the same general set of plans of people, as far as I've seen in playthroughs of the game. The endurance matches seem a bit random, but again, I'm going to do a few test run things and see what happens after I finish my class grades.

Necro-posting, bumping, or whatever, but I'd like to try doing a PSP encode thing again, now that there's new management and a lot more new things kicking around. I'm still using 3GB Converter at the moment, but I'm going to check around to see if anything else works. Hopefully it's not going to resist being watched in a PSP, but we'll see what it can do. Does anyone else have a PSP, so that possibly, we can try stuff out and make sure it works? The more help, the merrier. Heck, we could even see if these work in iPods too, if all goes good. I don't personally have one (and I won't unless someone buys one for me), but yeah. Shall we give this another go?

So are the score and the character fairly close together in terms of game data, like you have listed? If so, I'm starting to see a little bit how things might get affected, though I'm uncertain.

Good call, I hadn't tested that a whole lot yet because I've been busy with work (and then after work, I'm getting my ass back on that MMX 100% run). I ended up having a little free time before bed, so I tried out as many things as I had time for. I think I can easily eliminate the ones that result in glitches, then work with the ones I've done. I'd like to try and figure out a way to get up to 25,000 points without winning the match to see what happens, because I don't know how winning the match too affects the outcome (before the bonuses get tallied in, of course).

Walker Boh, perhaps there's still room for some entertaining playarounds. That's something you might want to consider doing, if you want to do more TAS stuff?

Enjoyable little run so far! Now it's time to fight Reptile! Will that be part of the next run? Also, I'm doing some testing still. Here's what I've found so far: 00,000 = Kano, ladder shows you're Johnny Cage, but that's not true. 00,500 = Johnny Cage 01,000 = Rayden 01,500 = Johnny Cage 02,000 = Johnny Cage 02,500 = Johnny Cage 03,000 = Johnny Cage 03,500 = Johnny Cage 04,000 = Null, freeze 04,500 = Null, blackout. 05,000 = Null, blackout. 05,500 = Johnny Cage 06,000 = Johnny Cage 06,500 = Null, freeze. 07,000 = Null, blackout. 07,500 = Null, blackout. 08,000 = Scorpion 08,500 = Johnny Cage 09,000 = Johnny Cage 09,500 = Johnny Cage 10,000 = Null, blackout. 10,500 = Null, blackout. 11,000 = Johnny Cage 11,500 = Null, blackout. 12,000 = Johnny Cage 12,500 = Null, glitchy. 13,000 = Null, freeze. 13,500 = Null, glitchy. 14,000 = Null, stuck. 14,500 = Johnny Cage 15,000 = Johnny Cage 15,500 = Goro 16,000 = Null, but actually the funniest game freeze I've ever seen. 16,500 = Johnny Cage 17,000 = Null, freeze. 17,500 = Null, freeze. 18,000 = Null, stuck. 18,500 = Null, blackout. 19,000 = Null, blackout. 19,500 = Null, blackout. 20,000 = Johnny Cage 20,500 = Null, freeze. 21,000 = Null, blackout. 21,500 = Null, blackout. 22,000 = Johnny Cage 22,500 = Johnny Cage

I've been trying to think of what it could be in a few simplistic things. I know the magic number for the character mod is "07". If I add up the digits in the score, it comes out to 11. Which would be "B" in Hex. I also double-checked to see, ignoring the first two digits of the score, what 155 would be in Hex. That came out to 9B as well, so no match at all there. I'm probably doing it wrong, but I at least figured I'd try to give it an honest-to-goodness shot.

OK, so the reason why I haven't been doing any TASes? Part of it is that I'm teaching a creative writing class this summer. So as a carry over from that, just for fun, see if you can guess the vocabulary word definition that I'm quizzing my students on over the course of the summer. Go ahead and spurt out answers and it'll be a collaborative fill-in, but I'm asking to go by the honor system here and not cheat by running out and going to look the words up. So, maybe just one or two per post then? I'll fill in the definitions as people get them right. --- 1.) Felicity - 2.) Lexicon - vocabulary (moozooh) 3.) Jostle - To shake up, shake around (Ferret Warlord) 4.) Pious - Religious (Blublu) 5.) Vivacious - lively (alden) 6.) Beguile - 7.) Ubiquitous - Omnipresent (moozooh) 8.) Superfluous - unnecessary (alden) 9.) Obstinate - 10.) Cacophony - 11.) Deprecate - 12.) Facetious - 13.) Veritable - 14.) Cavort - 15.) Inundate - To flood (Ferret Warlord) 16.) Inane - 17.) Nimiety - 18.) Convivial - 19.) Staid - 20.) Copse - 21.) Incipient - 22.) Glower - 23.) Badinage - 24.) Perfunctory - 25.) Obfuscate - 26.) Hermitage - 27.) Abscond - 28.) Bombinate - 29.) Vagary - 30.) Aberrant - 31.) Temerarious - 32.) Mephitic - 33.) Egress - 34.) Frission - 35.) Fervid - 36.) Bedlam - extreme disorder (moozooh) 37.) Expectorate - (to) spit (alden) 38.) Carom - 39.) Somniferous - 40.) Venial - (Edit: More definitions to come as I poke at it over the weekend)

It still is, in its own way! Or maybe that's just me being a life-long MK fan. Anyway, pitching a little suggestion. kchrules, who were you thinking of using in the run? If you use Liu Kang, you could have a little fun in The Pit and use Liu Kang's fatality to uppercut them into the pit. It's actually kinda cool-looking.

I can't say for sure. I know that 0C seems to load a glitchy character before hanging at "Fight!" when I pick Liu Kang, but I really have no idea what's going on with that. I think you just happened to find a "Null" character that for some reason, worked.

Yeah, the character thing seems to follow the games order (which some games will do, like this, Doomsday Warrior, etc.), which is: 00 = Cage 01 = Kano 02 = Rayden 03 = Liu Kang 04 = Scorpion 05 = Sub-Zero 06 = Sonya 07 = Goro 08 = Shang Tsung I'll have to play around with the stage values. However, score could be a very possible thing to look at. I'll look into both and see what I find. It seems like this might be the flood gate for a whole host of interesting with the Goro glitch.

Are you even using tools in it this time, or are you foregoing them again?

A TAS without tools is basically just a regular speed run. That's not what we're aiming for here. If you don't know how to do the tools and want to do a TAS, then read up on how to do it.

I think so, nice find! I wonder if that can be incorporated. Perhaps, I wonder if it's possible to use the memory watcher or something in the making of having Goro playable using the glitch, then see how the patterns change. I think what we're looking for is 7E002208 for Shang Tsung. For Goro, the last digit is 07, so when you check for that, see if it changes to 7 when you do the Goro trick normally. I can't help on the memory watcher thing right now, though. I have no idea how to use it. Also, too bad we didn't have a way of being able to access This with a glitch.

What combos have you tried so far on that one? Kind of a shame you can't get to him that easily. Also, here's a bit of a note list I've kept for many years. There's probably not a whole lot of interesting things, but maybe it'll help out with something, somewhere, somehow: http://debugunused.wikia.com/wiki/Notes_of_Mortal_Kombat_(SNES) (Copy-paste the full thing)
