The games were released as tie-ins the movie, which was based on the comics.

This is one of my favorite games, but I think this game, like other fighting/combat games, would be more interesting as a glitchfest/playaround then a speedrun. Voted meh.

It is worth noting that Wizardry IV came out in 1987, featuring a main character that summons underlings. Given how popular Wizardry is in Japan, I wouldn't find impossible to imagine the developers played it.
