Hookshot free run: see current any% No explosives run: very similar to current any%...the only changes would be as follows: 1. Go to graveyard and get Hookshot (pretty boring). 2. Shadow early and get Hover Boots (done in every other run but any%, and this would have to use the slow and annoying poe ss warp method instead of a chu ss warp). 3. Skip using the Lost Woods warp and instead go through hyrule field everytime you want to get to Kakriko (gets even more repetative and is a less entertaining route). 4. Use hover boots to ascend death mountain to magic (probably the only interesting trick gained by skipping explosives, but this would likely also be used in a new all temples TAS) 5. Hookshot across Gerudo bridge (not as entertaining as the current megaflip used). 6. Trial skip with the spirit armos (this is a slow trick compared to the fast staircase the any% will use). 7. Cut out all superslides, megaflips, and pressure jumps (movement throughout the game will be much slower, things will take longer for no entertainment benefit). In summary, a no explosive run is just a more boring version of our current any%. It is definitely not worth doing. "No explosive all temples" would be impossible due to Dodongo's Cavern, Fire Temple, and Spirit Temple. A low% TAS probably won't come any time soon, since well chus without lullaby opened up a really bad gray area when combined with RBA involving whether sticks on B counted. There are 3 sides to this debate (they should only be counted if you RBA ammo, they should not be counted no matter what, and they should be counted no matter what), and it is not worth going into the full debate here. Find me on the ZSR irc if you want me to devil's advocate your points. Low% all temples, however, might be worth TASing. The goal choice has some complaints about being arbitrary, but it is basically "complete all temples with the least ammount of items". This run would not use RBA, so all dilemmas involving sticks on B are negated. But I think most people, me included, would rather see a new all temple TAS before a low% all temple TAS, since the current one is very out of date.

Others may disagree, but I think this should be done like that Kirby's Dream Course TAS: Highest score in the Pokemon Report is priority 1, Time is priority 2. You can do many tricks to make you go faster through levels (see SDA run), but getting perfect pictures on every pokemon seems like it just has to happen.

Great run so far guys! I was wondering something though. Would it not be faster to simply skip the kokiri sword and shield, and instead just purchase 2 deku sticks at the shop. Use on of the sticks to escape the forest and then the other one can be used for the temple of time skip? I noticed that the sword was only really used for the forest escape, and the shield was only used for the hyrule field superslide. I know the deku stick forest escape is much slower, but i figured that the time saved by not collecting rupees/sword/shield would make up for the difference, plus some. I am sure I am wrong, but I figured I would mention it anyway.
Kokiri Sword is absolutely required to get past the door of time without the Song of Time. Since most C-items are unusable in the ToT, the only other way is to get a Deku Stick on B. But the only method we have of doing this is stealing the rod, and you can't steal the rod without the Kokiri sword equipped (you will be unable to cast it). The Deku Shield is also necesary to skip the long Fairy Ocarina cutscene. If you notice by the bean patch, he does a crouch stab in order to activate the Infinite Sword Glitch he uses to hover. To crouch stab, you need a shield.

There are only two ways to BA Light Arrows: 1. With the pedastol of time - this requires a way to get back through the door of time (meaning Song of Time or Hover Boots/Biggoron's Knife) and Forest Medallion to travel through time (which requires Hookshot). 2. With the Light Arrow cutscene...and if you are there already what's the point. Now, the first one has way too many extra steps to be useful, and the second one is excessive, since you'll already have LAs from the cutscene. And for a final nail in the coffin, for both of these you'ld need to either get Light Arrows to make a bridge (then why BA?) or the Megaton Hammer in order to ISG (IHG) and bomb hover over (the Fire Temple takes a long time). Light Arrows any other way then BGS RBA + Cutscene isn't going to happen with the current tricks. End all discussion of it.

V2 of the ruling is up, fixing the i.e./e.g. thing, and adding a few more technicalities (such as bottle duping over an empty item slot). The ruling on 1b/2d will have to be discussed further before a change is made.
1. Any item that appears in your Item Subscreen counts. (e.g. bottle, megaton hammer, light arrows)
1a. All items in the same slot (even if they are at different times) in your item subscreen count. (e.g. if you get Egg, then Cucco, it counts as two items; the same is true of hookshot and longshot, etc)
1b. Previous items are not assumed in any item. (e.g. if you get Zelda's Letter, you do not automatically get Egg and Cucco)
1c. Transforming an item into a bottle does NOT count as an additional item (e.g. turning Deku Sticks into a bottle with bottle duplication)
1d. Using bottle duplication to get a bottle on an empty slot does NOT count as an additional item

2. An item that appear on your Equipment Subscreen counts. (e.g. quiver, master sword, iron boots)
2a. Kokiri Boots and Tunic do not count, since they are obtained at the start and are never "collected".
2b. All items in the same slot (even if they are at different times) in your item subscreen count. (e.g. if you get Bomb Bag, then Big Bomb Bag, it counts as two items)
2c. As a clarification for 2b, Giant's Knife and Broken's Giant Knife are two different items.
2d. Previous items are not assumed in any item. (e.g. if you get Golden Scale, you do not automatically get Silver Scale)

3. Every Heart Container or Heart Piece counts as one item.
3a. The first three hearts you get do not count, since they are obtained at the start and are never "collected".

4. Any Great Fairy Gift counts as one item. (e.g. Magic, Double Magic, Double Defense)

5. Any wallet upgrade counts as one item. (e.g. Giant's Wallet)
5a. The starting wallet does not count, since it is obtained at the start and is never "collected".

6. Any song learned counts as one item. (e.g. Song of Time, Zelda's Lullaby)
6a. Scarecrow's Song counts as one item.

7. Any Medallion or Spiritual Stone counts as one item. (e.g. Light Medallion, Kokiri Emerald)

8. Gerudo License and Stone of Agony count as one item each.

9. Epona and the cow in Link's house count as one item each.

10. Each Golden Skulltula token collected counts as one item. Any reward from the Gold Skulltula House counts based on the other rules. (e.g. Adult's Wallet counts, silver rupee does not)

11. Ammunition does not count as an item. (e.g. arrows, nuts)
11a. To clarify, ammunition-in-themsleves items, such as Deku Nuts and Deku Sticks, do count as one item when they are first picked up.
11b. Anything caught in a bottle is considered "ammunition" and is not counted as an item. (e.g. bugs, fish, poe)
11c. All types of rupees are classified as ammunition

12. Dungeon items do not count as an item. (e.g. Small Keys, Boss Keys, Dungeon Maps, Compasses)

13. Any item obtained in the fishing pond does not count as an item. (e.g. fishing pole, fisherman's hat, 6 lb fish, sinking lure)
13a. If the item obtained would count under a previous rule, it is still counted. (e.g. Heart Piece, Golden Scale)

14. If an item is lost and then regained, it is not counted again. (e.g. burning a Deku Shield and buying another, getting a hylian shield back from a Like Like)

15. If an item that would count under a previous rule appears on B, it counts as obtaining that item.

16. Deleting an item through RBA or any other means does not remove the item from your count.

Due to the controversial low% rulings at SDA, we at ZSR have drafted up another set of rules that govern items do and do not count. As of now, TASVideos does not have a specific ruling. The one concern noted so far is that 1a and 1c contradict eachother in a way, but that has been the accepted ruling for a while. Should that change? 1. Any item that appears in your Item Subscreen counts. (i.e. bottle, megaton hammer, light arrows) 1a. All items in the same slot (even if they are at different times) in your item subscreen count. (i.e. if you get Egg, then Cucco, it counts as two items; the same is true of hookshot and longshot, etc) 1b. Previous items are not assumed in any item. (i.e. quiver, master sword, iron boots) 2a. Kokiri Boots and Tunic do not count, since they are obtained at the start and are never "collected". 2b. All items in the same slot (even if they are at different times) in your item subscreen count. (i.e. if you get Bomb Bag, then Big Bomb Bag, it counts as two items) 2c. As a clarification for 2b, Giant's Knife and Broken's Giant Knife are two different items. 2d. Previous items are not assumed in any item. (i.e. if you get Golden Scale, you do not automatically get Silver Scale) 3. Every Heart Container or Heart Piece counts as one item. 3a. The first three hearts you get do not count, since they are obtained at the start and are never "collected". 4. Any Great Fairy Gift counts as one item. (i.e. Magic, Double Magic, Double Defense) 5. Any wallet upgrade counts as one item. (i.e. Giant's Wallet) 5a. The starting wallet does not count, since it is obtained at the start and is never "collected". 6. eternal: You know, you don't have to get the Stone or Wallets to get chus, you can just skip talking to people for those prizes... Anyways, what seemed like a good solution was "If you get one or more tokens, it counts as an item." Most people were fine with this, yet a few think that since the pause menu shows X GSes, you should count it as X items, and that the pause menu reigns supreme (to which I say: Egg+Cucco do not count as items as in the end you'll just have Zelda's Letter in your inventory, and the pause screen reigns supreme!)

Also no bottle adventure will be used in the TAS, it is an RBA TAS...but enough of technicalities. Really, what I wanted to ask, if you duplicate a single GS token 40 times, is it still only one item for the sake of low%? With a few more tricks...well I assume most of you know where I'm going with this. Lets pretend there was a use of getting fire arrows multiple times. And for some reason the ass chest was useful. I don't think anyone would say getting fire arrows ten times from the ass chest would count as ten different items. On a similar note, if you burned the deku shield multiple times and rebought it back, nobody would say that that is multiple items. Logically, getting the same GS token ten times then, shouldn't count as ten different items. Some people are saying it should count as 0 tokens since the gs never dies permanently and the token is always still there...that I'm not so sure about, but that would make this even more useful. However, I'd use the same fire arrows parallel: you can get fire arrows from Lake Hylia and they count...just because you could get them again from the ass chest, doesn't mean the originals don't count. There is an intense argument in #zelda on irc.metroid2002.com right now, and I can't include all the points for all three sides in one post, but it is probably still good to here other's inputs.

Judging by the fact that it was made by three prominent tasers here, don't you think they've already posted it? In addition, it may not even be the fastest way anymore. And the trick to skip the door of time is over a year old.

1. RBA/BA is currently banned under MST ruling, at least as determined by SDA (TASvideos has yet to make a ruling, but the SDA ruling is what grunz is using). 2. The point and glory of MST is to see all the temples and bosses beaten, instead of any% where you skip them all. It is not about the games chronology or completing "essential" story points (such as opening the door of time). It is simply showcasing more of the game being broken to bits, not trying to break the game less.

Anybody who has been in the #zelda irc knows that a major MM trick was discovered today, via a PM to grunz. We've spent all day (mostly unreal and grunz, with a few others helping) researching, and this is what we've found. First the glitch: 1. Go to the Curiosity shop. 2. Go through the dialogue, selling an item, until you get the point where you can either confirm or deny the sale. 3. Confirm the sale and then immediately press start (mash start if on console). You will open up your start menu. Select any item and place it in the slot of the item you are selling. 4. The item you swapped will now become a bottle. So, what can you do with this? 1. After woodfall, bottle dupe over deku nuts, deku mask, and bow. You now have four bottles, and only have to make one trip each to Pirate's Fortress and Pinnacle Rock. You can also skip the ranch completely. As you still have the quiver, you can still fire arrows, you just need fire arrows (haha...or light arrows). 2. When you perform this glitch, the item you were selling remains in the original bottle, yet you still get rupees for it. For a 100% run, get Gold Dust and perform this trick, switching to an empty bottle every time. You'll get very, very fast rupees, and are conveniently right next to the banker. 3. Turn the ocarina into a bottle. The game now thinks you are on the first cycle. If you head into the field, there will be no enemies or music, just like the first cycle. Useless, but it gives us a look into the checks the game uses to determine cycle. 4. Instead of pausing, if you mash a button for a transformation mask or the ocarina, you will transform / pull out the ocarina instead. This will turn whatever item you chose into a bottle. If you do this with every mask, you can even have yourself permanently stuck as a transformation. We put a lot of effot looking into ways to dupe eggs or rba/ba, but no luck so far. Anyways, the route will have to change slightly, and grunz and slowi will probably do that soon. Lucky for swordless, it seems the first cycle and the first part of the second cycle will not change.

New idea for a faster 16 item low% route (in before massive debate).... Kokiri Sword + Shield Forest Escape To Gerudo Valley Cucco Jump Child Gate Skip Wasteland Enter Spirit Leave and get Requiem Savewarp (we'll have to wait for this obviously, or just deathwarp) Forest Escape again To Kakriko Village Cucco Bottle To Lake Hylia Golden Scale then steal rod Ruto's Bottle + Sticks on B (by current ruling doesn't count as an item, balancing out the requiem grabbed earlier) Play Requiem Spirit child, using b sticks for small key Up to chus Up to mirror shield Savewarp Forest Escape again To Hyrule Castle Lullaby and Letter DoT skip Adult as normal, but when ready to go to Spirit just play requiem Would save a few chus, and the time it takes to get to spirit temple as adult (which is obviously a fair ammount). I'm not sure how OI would work with sticks on B, yet if something goes wrong just get bottle on B, warp to spirit, and save in spirit to get sticks back on B. Also, you may want to RBA chus as a child, but I'll leave that up to more experienced people to decide. This also only matters if we never get the deku stick skip to work (and for people playing on console).

You mean Ganon's castle early? That was discovered a long time ago, there are multiple ways to do it. The only reason we get/rba medallions is because you need light arrows for ganondorf.

That would take deku nuts, assuming you are using it for a low%. I heard something about ocarina and tunnel glitch, but I think that was for canceling it. If it is possible to do tunnel glitch with ocarina, that is probably a % drop (with a slightly altered version of the route I posted a bit back). Edit: A few seconds after posting this: <ZFG> hey I tested the theory slowking posted at tasvideos for stick skip <ZFG> in botw <ZFG> WWT to the bottom floor <ZFG> it still loads the bottom <ZFG> but you regain normal control over link <ZFG> and the camera acts like normal <ZFG> but the text box is still there <ZFG> neat but useless

Reposting this, because for some reason my other post is gone... Basically, is there any error in this route, which gets the same low% ammount of items (16) without any items in bottles (or bottles themselves for that matter)? It is a lot slower, and is definately TAS only, but it is pretty cool to have a different route with a lot of different items. It would also please the garden noob who thinks items in bottles should count (or the more legitimate complaint that BA shouldn't be allowed at all in low% runs). Also, if stick skip becomes possible (which there are rumors that we are very close with a trick in BoTW), the old route still will get a stick on B for BA and not count it as a %, which is agruably wrong, while this route won't.
