I worked on the level 1-1 and successfully improved it by... 7 seconds, by discovering a new skip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxLcQxDSSYQ Of course, this motivate me to re-do all the run, plus I'm in contact with ion12 who can help me :) And yeah, maybe I made this run a bit too fast... But that let me wondering : what should we do with this submission ? Let it publish and then wait for an improved version or cancel it ? What do you think ?

Hi ! Thanks again for your work ! But what are the settings to record without lag ? And what codec to use ? I tried to dump frame, dump audio to avi and dump audio and then to only take audiodump.wav, but it still have sync issue :( (I'm using the latest version of your A/V hack. EDIT : I made some test, and for some reason I can't capture the level 1 : it always skip the part between where I jump on the cliff to when I open the egg which give the hatcher costume... The audio is captured though, the frames are just not there.

Ok I tried what I could, but I don't see many options. I tried to take an egg while an ennemi touch me --> does nothing. I tried to press all the buttons at the the same time --> Just jump I tried to kick an egg, and when it roll back to me I take damage of an ennemy --> the egg just stop and the ennemy goes away ... Not very good results xD But I succeded to do that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxZbq01VxAQ So yeah, is there any glitch hunter who could help me by telling me what to do ? I'm trying random stuff, but I'm going nowhere :|

Hmmm, reading some comments on the submission thread, I would like to try to optimize this run. But I'm not sure about how to proceed... I mean, should I try all the levels, get all the times and see which route is faster ? (I just made estimations) And about finding glitch, should I try to find them in Real Time or with test in TAS ?

I can't, you need a GBA link to get some eggs I think. And I worked during the night, that's why I went so fast :p I've beem looking again at the levels, and the route taken during this video is in my opinion the most optimal one, as the other missions are minigames, long races, kill 100 of crows and save 8 chickens - type of mission, which are pretty long and sometime without many shortcuts.

En fait je savais même pas que c'était "ça" qui s'appelait "hex editing", faut dire que j'ai pas vraiment fait de recherches sur le sujet (j'imaginais que ça avait à voir avec du bidouillage de la RAM ou chaispasquoi :p). Ca doit être à cause du mot "hex", rapport à hexadecimal, alors qu'en fait dans l'exemple on tripatouille juste du texte.
En réalité, tout les émulateur ne supportent pas le format texte, j'aurais dû en parler... En effet, il faut modifier les valeurs hexadecimals du jeu pour copier/coller/ajouter/enlever.
Déjà pour la vidéo c'était bien, on regrettera juste le fait que tu n’aies pas montré qu'en modifiant le 1er niveau, le 2ème reste inchangé (d'ailleurs à ce sujet le mario de HappyLee reste accroché moins longtemps au drapeau grâce au petit glitch, donc l'hex editing de ta vidéo aurait provoqué une désynchro si tu avais continué la vidéo).
Oui, ça desynch après, je m'en suis rendu compte tout à l'heure en voulant vérifier si j'avais bien fait... Bon ben voilà :P Le LUA a l'air simple en effet, mais je vais peut-être pas expliqué les loop ect... dans une vidéo :p Donc je rappelerai juste qu'il faut des bases en programmation comme dit avant et voilà :p Merci infiniment de vos retours, je vais essayer de m'améliorer pour les prochaines fois :)

@AngerFist -> Yup, I start to work on it right after World of Goo. I tried at each level to found new shortcut, with different size of eggs, and I did found some. I also don't use death as a shortcut, as the speedrun does... But yes, I have to admit I didn't look at all the levels (actually, I did at the beginning of the run, but then I quickly start to follow blindly what the speedrunners made). So should I do all the levels, see the times, and try to make a route out of this ? That should be possible actually, and as you say it would take more than a month :p EDIT : Note though that I was really motivated to make this TAS and that I spend some night in it. Don't think that I didn't put any effort on it :p

J'ai uploadé la vidéo sur l'hex editing. J'ai tout dit sur le sujet ? Aussi, je vais avoir besoin d'aide pour le LUA scripting... J'ai jamais manié ce langage, et je suppose que comme tout les langages de script il y a des documentations particulières pour chaque émulateur... Donc si quelqu'un connaissait un bon tuto pour le LUA et les docs pour les émulateurs, juste assez pour développer un script pour son TAS quoi, qu'il le dise s'il vous plaît :)

There's no use in saving him. Firstly because Dino Mountain isn't great to speedrun (long level), plus with this route we already have enough short levels, combining with the levels we need to complete the game.

It had too many drawbacks to be used to often. Anyway, I finished my TAS, but I'm not going to submit it yet. I'm going to encode it just to see if you think that it is submitable. Time : 1h22m22s53ms (including the credits because of the "Would you like to save ? question asked after...)

I re-made the 9 emblems with what I learned and saved 00:32:31 (new time : 20:25:50 ). And I just discovered that rolling+jumping at the same time goes as fast as dashing (the only drawback is that you can't turn...). Not sure if that would save time before, but I'm going to continue with that in my head :)

vvvvvv musics... I never know if I should listen them in 720p or 360p... They're very good yeah ! A really good soundtrack is the one of Mafia 1 had very good musics... The Intro was awesome, the in-game musics were great too as well as the action themes.
