so wtf that's is too hard to follow ; I actually, as some others vierwers, enjoyed the camhack better. I'd glady watch the full game run that way, in fact. would it be please possible ? even if it's not published, maybe posted somewhere ? I'm quite sure it would find its audience easily.

Bisqwit, doesn't the color of your avatar change according to the number of the post ? if so, isn't there a bug, since there's none here... the_gamer134783483 : please consider choosing a more original nickname :D (as well as Naruto82, Kenshin7933, player48746, etc.) just install a bittorrent client (example : bitcomet for windows). be sure to check "open .torrent files with this program". then, click on the torrent link in the movie description. it will download automatically. good luck !

they're stupid because they were programmed that way. ie, it's a feature, and if it can be abused, it's a glitch.

I agree with you, Guano. This random desync crap is pissing me off, too. In fact so much so that I'm almost considering trying to join the development team on mupen so we can get some of this crap fixed (recordable resets, desyncs, etc).
this version (nitsuja's) is open source. besides, it's not supported by the mupen team. so why not trying to edit the source yourself now ? yeah, this idea is frightening :)

advancecomp-1.15-windows-pentium is the name of the binaries file ; for the source you need advancemame-0.104.0.tar.gz just unzip it and read the BUILD file. here's an extract (since you got the windows version, I suppose you want to compile it under that OS) :
5.4 Windows ----------- To build in Windows you need the following software: MINGW 1.1 (or newer) MINGW GNU gcc C/C++ 3.2.3 (or never) NASM 0.98.33 (or newer) SDL 1.2.4 (or newer) FreeType 2.1.7 (or newer) The only tested compiler version is 3.2.3. Other versions should work.
you can get mingw seperately, or inside environments like dev-cpp or cygwin. as for visual c++, I don't know, it could be quite complicated to make all the needed libraries work. good luck, mame has a very impressive source tree, since it emulates tons of hardware.

there are many emulators for PSP. with the memory stick, it's pretty easy to put your favorite SNES games. the best known psp rgp is tales of eternia, at the moment. screen is bigger and 3D is better than those of the DS. and you can play divx too :) the 16/9 image is pretty impressive. games are still lacking imo. I haven't tested those of the DS, the stick could be fun or limited, I don't know.

it looks boring even if it wasn't tool assisted. the character just goes on a straight line, absolutely nothing impressive. it looks as if you let the game run by itself and went away, having a coffee break, and watching it made me want to do the same thing. hollow seems an appropriate word. I haven't watched the other wips in this topic, but this will definitely prevent me from watching any. thanks for the encoding :)

forgive me ! I shouldn't have answered so bluntly to you. I'm just a kid after all. may I send you some money as an apology ? will you be magnanimous to me if I bow to you ? also, I'm terribly sorry if I can't fulfill your request. we just boycott those capitalists from google in my country.

this isn't a fast food where you could request for whatever you want. ever heard of humility ? http://justfuckinggoogleit.com/ and if you can't find, learn how to search for it by yourself. and, no, search does not equal lazy. just how old are you to be so blunt... U_U

short answer : your emulator must obey the rules of this site, so that movies made by it can be accepted to.
OK then, considering all emulators mentionned above (Meka, Dega...) have zero of those features, I don't understand why above is was mentionned that "Meka's GUI and source code both fail those criterias". Is the GUI causing any problem with your set of rules?
1st criteria : getting accepted on the site. ok, if you add the needed features, it will be accepted, but as Frenom suggested in another thread, Meka's GUI isn't the most practical to use for movie making purposes. people are used to the windows-style GUI, so my argument was that they'd prefer emus having it. but as xebra mentionned, the first working rerecording SMS emu will be used anyway. 2nd criteria : the source code. I have the regret to say that it's not enough to include the needed features ; there will be bugs and the emu will have to be improved over the future. comparing to Dega's source, it seems that Meka's source does not look as easy and as pratical to read/alter. you might not always be there for us, and if you leave afterwards, and that there are still bugs to be fixed, no one will be able to take the task over. the more complicated/spaghettified the code is, the less chance we have it will happen. please take those lightly. they're just an opinion. I know that it might not look like it, but whatever the contribution you'll give, the community will be thankful. take your time. also, I was just trying to help upthorn chose among the propositions he made, and the pros-cons he advanced. sorry if you felt directly concerned.

could any of you, masters of this game, please record a speedrun of it ? the game does not seem very resource-consuming, so external programs such as fraps or camtasia, or whatever solution you prefer, could probably be used along the run.

ok, I've sum it up. I give no guarantee whatsoever, please note that I never played the game either, so translations are approximatic. you can find the matching images on the original site. Armet : THE rumor. launched by Squaresoft itself. can be seen in the french guide, a helmet with an unknown price/defensive power. the place where it can be found is of course "secret"... squarepalace (the site) opinion : we proved the existence of the Armet. our friend DooKie, as an exclusivity back then, found the Action Replay code "7ECC250C". Secret item : again found while toying with Action Replay by DooKie. it looks like a healing item, since its graphic effect is close to a candy or a nut. you may download here a zSnes savestate providing that object, in slot 9. careful, your rom's name must match savestate's name (extension excluded) for the file to work. SP's opinion : incredible ! 12 years after its release, SoM can still surprise us ! where does it come from, and what is its use ? if you know what this is about, feel free to contact us. Secret character ? while testing the heroes characteristics, DooKie and Poppu found by chance an unused sprite in SoM ! in some aspects, it reminds the emperor's sprite. to see it, enter zSnes code "7EE180B3". who is this person ? what gender is he/she ? why wasn't him/her included in the final version of the game ? those numerous questions will probably never find any answers. one of the "ultimate" secret of the game ! the character's palette. it's complete, so the sprite was fully finished ! SP's opinion : again an enigma left to solve : why not included ? enemy ? ally ? again a SP's exclusivity. don't forget to change room once the code entered to make your character's sprite change. if you know who it is, please contact us. The Mysterious Island : you must surely have already seen this island, lost somewhere in the ocean. a lot of people pretend it's a secret world, with much stronger enemies than in Mana's Fortress. some even said having been there, and found the Armet there ! what is about it ? SP's opinion : SoM was originally designed for Satella View, the famicom's extension. but this extension was a failure, and only available in Japan. it allowed to play over the satellite at the cost of a monthly fee, like today's Internet connection. the most famous game on it were BS-Zelda and F-Zero premium edition. the main interest was the ability to add new content to games, like dungeons in Zelda or tracks in F-Zero, without erasing the player's data. back then, it was a very interesting feature and really extended the games' lifetime. but the developers rather chose to adapt SoM on the Famicom, which had a much broader public. that's why some parts of the game have no meaning, like this head in the ocean. the greatest loss about that change was probably about weapons/armors : players could borrow those of the sets to equip them (especially in the empty rooms of the ruins). but those elements disappeared because the console couldn't handle them, due to its lack of memory. that's why there is this head-shaped island. maybe was it a whole lost world, or even more, the Armet, surely the remains of the beta version of the Satellite View. moreover, a second head was found in the mountains. those oddities seem to be some sort of dedication from Squaresoft, since other faces can be found in the Final Fantasy series. more to come : - Solar - Mana Sword - True Sorcia ? - a debug room ? - kill Jojo - infinite life points - invincible - go back to Potos - sleep as Mimi - perverted Mana developers ? - level 9 magics - infinite weapons spheres - weapons spheres retailer - no more shadows ! if you want on of those sections first, say so, or I'll do them in that order. might take some time. sorry for the (often) poor translation.

tasvideos (fomerly known as nesvideos) is a site where players can submit TAS, that is, inputs recordings of oldschool consoles emulators. the site works as a community : everyone has the right to create those movies, but there are rules. I'll pass on the submission/workbench/vote/judge/publishing system (I suggest you read the faq), but to prevent the movies from being accused of cheating, one rule says that the emulator the movie was recorded with, must be accepted by the admin (Bisqwit) of the site. he has written very specific conditions so that an emu can get accepted and added to the publishing system. there are 2 kinds of features : - needed features, IE what an emulator and the movie format it generates must do (example : savestates, record from reset, tell if pal/ntsc, only record inputs and other stuff) - confort features : often required by players to allow them to create movies more easily, like frame search short answer : your emulator must obey the rules of this site, so that movies made by it can be accepted to. about the joystick support : I don't know, maybe the facility to use actual PC pads/sticks ?

I was wondering too, where the vote link was. I followed Bisqwit's first post but just vote results could be seen in the movies list. but then I saw this link : http://tasvideos.org/rating.exe which gave me the full explanation :
Movie ratingAuthorization required The movie rating function is only available for registered users. If you have registered at the Nesvideos discussion forum, you can login here with your forum username and password. After you log in, you can return to this page and you will be given the list of movies to rate (and the list of what you have already rated). You will also see a "rate this movie" link on each movie entry on the movie pages. If you haven't logged in, you will see this page instead.
nowhere was it mentionned that login was necessary. actually, like most visitors, I never log(ged) to visit the site, outside the forums. And I was wondering what good it was for (if you're neither an editor, nor a player with a projects page). maybe could it be added somewhere, on the results list ("please login to rate those movies" for instance). I can clearly see now the advantage of the login system. without it, votes could have become a total mess, heavily abused, etc.

as trazz pointed out, there is a problem of confidence with the ratings. one vote of 10.0 shouldn't be better than 100 votes of 9.0. could it be possible to add, for each rating, the number of votes please ? that way people could trust them more. //edit damn, Omega was faster than me. forget it then. thank you.
