it seems some countries were added to the list, I can now watch the movies. too bad the quality is so low, I've just watched the fast s3&k movie, and the plugin just can't bear the frame rate. anyway, it's quite useful for users that can't make bittorrent work...

But there are still imperfections in the run, it's probably gonna be remade for submission.
do you, or does any player of your team have any plan to re-tas the game and actually submit it ? it's a great classic and it'd deserve to have a run published ; the site lacks GB classics IMHO.

don't forget that many countries have no access to google videos. hopefully, it can be circumvented via proxies such as Tor, as someone tested.

if I'm not mistaken, it's Gens+ and not Gens that has the SMS (and GG) emulation. source is available, but someone would have to add the missing functionnalities (I don't know which of them). (Jyzero, if you hear us... :) ) so, meanwhile, any other SMS emulator would satisfy us fans :)

I'm curious, why does it seem like all the Europeans are into death metal and the like?
it has nothing to do with nationalities. a lot of the visitors of those forums are geeks, and goths are common among geeks, that's not new. therefore, metal music is popular here, and since it's become the new subject of this topic, its fans reply more often. (note : I'm not judging anything, I appreciate metal too, at a very small dose) as for my personal taste... pretty eclectic, as long as it's not known on TV. no pop hence, etc.

which other system, that has already an emulator with tools (rerecording, savestates...), could emulate SMS better then ? is PocketSMS better than (the previously discussed) DrSMS ? (it displayed an intro and rescaled the image, but was discarded)

some suggestions : remove the submissions (by rejecting them) of movies that have been already improved and re-submitted. easy to tell which by sorting the submission queue by author or better, by game name. specifically the cameltry movies : SNES Cameltry in 04:37 by Simon Andersson (hadock) is better than SNES Cameltry in 05:47 by Simon Andersson (hadock) and SNES Cameltry in 06:31 F.Y (fuzi2) the older submissions deserve both the "rejected in favor of a faster submission" decision. couldn't find any other, or I might be blind. hope it helps.

maybe the SNES adaptator for GB games ? then record the SNES on tape normally. have to watch the run first though. //edit just read the comments, indeed the Game Boy Player is mentionned.

reminds me this good old link. must read. http://pepper.idge.net/japanese/ (mirror since original 404'd) and those kanjis are way too annoying >___<

yeah, cape is boring, especially when the movie is long and the cape is used too often. that's sad, because the parts without it look fantastic. couldn't we set a new objective which would sounds like "uses cape/feather as less as possible" ?

isn't that the case of every TAS ? every trick ? basically, they're just commands that a human could reproduce if he had "perfect reflexes". one could justify any glitch this way... but if it's done without tools, then it's maybe "legal"...

I believe that only differences are encoded into videos (except key frames of course). so, in theory, 60 fps wouldn't be that bigger since the more frames there is, the less differences between frames there is, and smaller difference = smaller size. sorry if that's not clear. earlier movies made on this site were recorded in 30 fps : the video quality was much lower (less smooth), and more important, it was much more difficult for players to pull out tricks, since they had half the number of fps to try things.

I like your tutorial, DeHackEd. it's clear and concise. should the section Resuming recording be updated ? I can't tell if the info there is clear enough.

I caught myself wondering why some runs don't last more, as I was fascinated by the action and asking for more... example : Umihara Kawase's long run over the short one.

and program the rerecording function to remember events, and make discontinuous movies ? like : "press X for 5 frames, wait 10 frames, wait for end of loading screen, press Y" etc. ? or maybe that's too complicated :/

you can resume any movie at a later time. some movies like the Sonic 3 & Knuckles took ten thousands of re-records (160 000+ in that case), obviously not in one sitting. rather 6 months... check out the faqs for the manipulation... or wait for the answer of a true player :) good luck with your runs.

there's a very small french community throughout the forums. usually, english then spanish or german (neighbors...) are taught at school here, but only the first remains spoken/used after graduating. japanese is becoming a fashion since animation/manga has spread quite well in the occidental countries lately. but most fans quits rather quickly since kanjis are way too hard to learn :) speaking of otakus/nerds, there's a Zorg community here, as I can see :)

it seems the upcoming version of gens has been delayed to an uncertain future. so no sega cd, no sms, no gg TAS until someday ~~ unless a nice coder from the forums kindly has a look a it :)

replace the space with %20. http://impact.megarpg.net/Amagon%20(U).fc0 (should work with copy pasting)

the new section's name reminds me something... And I thought Zork was an obscure enough quote as a signature :)

This would be good if the emulator emulated it perfectly, which it doesn't. Not only it displays an intro screen, it also has to remove a lot of lines of pixels which is totally undesireable (but understandable since it's the gba screen resolution)
but aside to these 2 problems the game seems to work, and the movie to synch ? wouldn't this solution be usable ? we could start timeattack sms games <3 :)

(if I understood it correctly) the most famous Caesar's cipher (breaking included) is rot13, usenet's most famous "crypting" method. it's not a real protection for your data, better used to hide spoilers. nowadays, (paranoid ? j/k) people rather use PGP, a much more robust crypting system.

Shoulden't there be support for SMS in the new Gens version? Wonder when they'll release it?
as I'm also interested in those questions and that I believe this topic is more appropriate (correct me if I'm wrong). never owned any of the consoles supported by emulators having rerecord-support, so would love to see (and maybe contribute to) SMS classics (and yeah Dragon's Trap would rock !). any news Jyzero ?

or append a "bonus" section at the end of the regular avi. for instance, during the ending, in a corner, reduced, that would make the ending more entertaining to watch.
