sorry, I'm not. close call. I'm not married either but just like feitclub, I have a busy life outside those forums, unlike most kids here, and many other guys I see spending way too much time around. I wonder how any adult guy could find some time to TAS up up any elephant, it's way too time consuming. also, I'm a bit surprised by the question. it looks very limited to me, as many people live in a couple without considering neither marriage not engagement, and that most marriages end up in divorces. in fact, I don't see what such a question do on public forums. making me older or feitclub married do not make any of us wiser or skilled. come on, those are just old video games, who cares who any of us is ? let me sum both those ideas up together : once you're not a teen anymore, you get a busy professional and private life (how are you GuanoBowl ?), and gaming becomes just a side occupation like many others. it will happen to all of you... unless you intend to spend the next 50 years playing 80's and 90's video games for a living ;)

Back then, peach was seen as the slowest character, and several runs with different choices were published every other day. One day, someone (Bisqwit ?) dared anyone to beat the then current run, saying it was optimal already, adding that it'd be even impossible with peach only. A short time later, someone beat the record with peach only, and it was an instant publication, as it kinda taught a lesson to non-peach believers. Of course the run did not survive long, obsoleted some time after, but it stayed in the list for those historical reasons. It reminds us to never pretend that a run is optimal, and never pretend that a choice is definately suboptimal. But yeah time has passed and it should get removed from the list now. The run is not an exploit anymore. Historical reasons should be no exception, but it's up to the admins to strictly apply the rules.

because it's the legend of the princess zelda, not the legend of link. it's quite different from super mario bros. the former emphasizes the heroic context, whereas the latter just, well, is about delivery guys (and later plumbers). you'd (almost) only see link save zelda, when mario is used for whatever. I guess the creator of zelda wanted to show more of the rpg side, but failed miserably, since most non gamers believe zelda is the name of the hero, while it's a girl's name.

Boco, get the faqs and try to master every combo in practice. then, try to beat the computer at the best level. if it gets too easy, switch characters. then, make sure you keep playing with the best players you can find : the more difference there is between you and them there is, the quicker you will progress. patience is the key. note that this is true to every fighting game, as well to many video games. the more you loose, the more you learn.

just look for the file [ROM name].srm in your emulator's directory and erase it each time before you run the game.

have you tried compiling and running the linux version, Bisqwit ? were you able to encode a test movie ? if the emulator fulfill all conditions the site need, it's about time it gets accepted and we see runs of some classics. now on to tas games you players :p

the code to have the banana gun is given to you in Tyrian once you finish the game. next new game, you have it, but you lost it once you collect another weapon. the game is very easy with bananas, since it spams tremendous amounts of ammo. a run with it would not be very interesting, and you first need to finish the game anyway.

with the program you wrote flagitious, one could easily write a bot that could perform a decent TAS for the picross games already emulated. it would be a much more interesting challenge than just filling the grids row by row, "by heart". would anyone be interested in seeing such a TAS ? it'd need some additional tools, either storing the puzzle in the same format the posted site proposed (lots of work !), or OCR.

a larger request I'd have would be to be able to search by date, either by topic (last post by criteria) or by post (show a link to the next post of each topic that has been updated afterwards). that's what the new posts function does, except it only shows what has been updated since your last connection. why not any arbitrary date ?

can he at least save any file on the hd ? even if the files were sent on his email, which isn't likely to happen, how would he then save the attached files on the hd ?

hit tab until the dotted square gets over the link you want, then hit the context menu key (left of your right control key). the menu will popup in the top left hand corner. with the down arrow key, go to "save target as..." and hit "enter". no mouse needed at all. there is absolutely nothing you cannot do without a mouse. the only exception I know is the menu to dispose the windows automatically (mosaics...). with ctrl, alt, shift, escape, start, context menu, space and arrows, combinations with letters, and the F* keys, you can access to anything. or, get a new mouse for less than 10 bucks.

probably the same as any other pc speedrun, through camtasia or fraps. check the faqs over speeddemoarchives.

a subtitles file is very basic : for each sentence, the timecodes of appear/disappear are added. a basic tool could be designed to generate such a file by dropping markers (in & out) along a video being played when buttons are used. I used to have such a tool but I lost it :( it was a very basic avi player (generated by a microsoft dll) with the basic playing buttons, and the following options : - a textbox to enter, well, the text - a button to tell the program to make the corresponding subtitle begin at the current moment played in the (paused) video - same to drop an "end" marker - very basic menu to load/save the .srt/.sub file. I'm not sure if such tools can be found easily ; there is one for the .ssa format though, but only synched to sound, not video. maybe a virtualdub plugin ? equipped with this, anyone could produce subs with great ease.

that's not true, because wheter it's in english or in japanese, only people would have played the game know the game, since dialogues are usually sped up by a lot. besides, who would want to read each and every sentence ? would you press "pause" all the time ? and rpg runs are all terribly long and excessively talkative... subtitles are much better, since the writer can sum up the plot and detail the actions taken to gain time in the tas. it also helps the massive crowd who never played the game to enjoy it. indications must help the viewers watch the movie faster, not hinder him...

that's the role of the btfriendly client over there. check the helping page. there's at least one person running this script at any time : Bisqwit himself. his script automatically seeds torrents that have the fewest sources, especially those without any full source. but the script only checks this every 5 minutes, and sometimes is not working since it's a free service, so just launch the torrent and wait, it will eventually download and finish.

is playback broken ? I launched wb3, tried to run OgreSlayer's testrun, but to no avail, just an ironic "movie playback started" message on the status bar. retro compatibility problem perhaps ?

works much better with overlay set to none, thanks. is it normal that "red&blue 3d" is checked by default btw ? does it have any side effect ?

I might report a bug as well. under xp. - launch latest rerecording dega - open a rom immediatly - the game will start without the menus showing - let's say I want to watch a movie now, I hit escape to show the menu - the bar shows but the lists won't : impossible to select any option, it's ultra super slow. the problem does not appear if I let the game play for at least 20 seconds before trying to reach the menus. please note I let the emu run with all default options, so that's 4x display for you.

neither, looks pretty neat. would it be faster to get hit by the falling ceiling instead of slowing down, in order to avoid them ?

use a video editing program such as Virtual Dub or RI4M (Ripp it after me), separating audio and video tracks is called demuxing. this is a very quick and simple operation. the opposite is called muxing of course. welcome to the world of video editing.
