http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1482321253/SprintSaber.smv Finished Jodvalley just now. Currently 2454 frames ahead of the published run. And new filename so the link doesn't break.

Link to video it's an alternate youtube Improved the end of Tong City by 152 frames. Could've potentially been 169, but I sacrificed 17 frames to make the Undead Princess fight more entertaining. I'll post another WIP file once I get far enough into Jodvalley.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1088712134/Run%20Saber%20%28U%29%20%5B!%5D.smv Up to Stage 3 and currently 1331 frames ahead of the published run. The Stage 2 boss battle is a cop-out, I admit, but it's going to be reworked. Just wanted to show off an easy way to win that fight. I'm still not TOO happy with the minibosses. The head is rather erratic with its movement, and Red Saber and the rock boss have varying invulnerability times. Edit: Tubin' up the new boss battle (and the rest of Tong City). There. Link to video Edit2: Just realized that the microstorage links are broken. I'll tinyurl them from now on.

If you're in the air at the right time, you can avoid the "Boss Defeated" pose. That was the purpose of my being in the air after taking them out in my published run. Anyway, it's good to see someone else taking a crack at this. I had been doing some work on it, but couldn't figure out how to bypass the intro in SNES9X the way I did in ZSNES.
Ha, I knew that would be mentioned. That was just me ending the video in a flashy way (the input file ends right before) I end up jumping from the girder to skip the pose (and save some climbing time). Up to the first miniboss of Stage 2 now. I had gone through Red Saber but there was a desync, which was actually really nice because I wasn't happy with the battles anyway (and it allowed me to save a half-second of time :3). http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/776523367/Run%20Saber%20%28U%29%20%5B!%5D.smv Not sure how correct my calculations are, but this should be 462 frames faster than the WIP. I'll Tube it in a bit. Tubed. Link to video

I'm taking a crack at this game. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1691132420/Run%20Saber%20%28U%29%20%5B!%5D.smv Currently 165 frames ahead of the WIP in the last post, as of the last hit on the miniboss. Mostly optimization all throughout and taking a few different routes when possible. There's a weird timing difference between ZSNES and Snes9x that allows for the splash screens to be cleared 66 frames faster on ZSNES, so the total improvement is actually 231 frames. Tubified: Link to video Edit: Up to 223 frames ahead at the first frame of the boss's spawn animation, though I'm still working things out. Edit: And 274 frames ahead after the first boss. How do you even GET a boss that's that random with invincibility time?

Believe it or not, yes! I've been really busy lately, but I've been finding (really) small periods of time to work.

Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but I was planning on picking up all the STR potions. Definitely helpful to know it saves time! The grinding spots/calculations are also extremely helpful. :3 And great finds on some of the Tower 1 stuff! I started over (again) and it's wonderful to have some extra improvements to incorporate. While I'm here, timesaver! Saves about three frames. Link to video

I admit that I don't know anything about the game or MSX in general, which may make my opinion invalid, but this just looks like an above-average speedrun on console. I'm hesitant to say it's unoptimized, considering it might be console or game limitations, but it doesn't look like anything of completely optimized quality. Meh vote. Bad game choice, in my opinion.

I don't really see a reason for both runs to exist on the site. If this is published, I would hope that it obsoletes the other movie instead of being published alongside it. I will abstain from voting for now.

Ah, it's almost sad that I've played Aria to death, so I understand everything that's happening. Yes vote, of course.

I suppose I'm the only reasonably active person who hasn't thrown in a vote, yet. Yes vote. Not like it matters at this point, though.

I'd love to see a true playaround. The tricks are interesting enough to warrant a playaround publication, while being able to collect things and not having to wait for the timer to run out would keep the variety strong throughout. I did like this, however, I'll abstain from voting.

Jegus fuck, I feel like I just read War and Peace. That submission text is literally a novel, a tour de force of literary accomplishment. Oh, I voted yes.

Holy crap, this is awesome. Thanks for this. I'm slowly getting my motivation back, although I'm probably not going to be making any new WIPs for at least another week. This is my birthday week, and I'm taking the time to bid farewell to my teen years. I WILL finish this. Trust me.

The link should go in the submission text, just to be safe. That being said, I'll watch this as soon as I can.

Sorry guys, but I have to say that is bullshit. I get the feeling people are abstaining because they want a lynx title on the site.
I abstained from voting because I didn't finish watching the run (couldn't, rather), and I find it disrespectful to vote without watching a movie in its entirety. I apologize if my personal standards of respect give off the impression that I'm desperate to see another system have a published run.

I watched up until level 1-2 before thinking "This is all going to be the same, terrible game." Abstaining from voting, but if I did vote, it would be a no. Bad game choice... bad system choice, even.

So far, the only arguments that seem logical: 1. Return the stated published submissions, and any others that might qualify, to the submission queue for a second round of voting. 2. Create a list similar to the "Movies to Obsolete from 2004" list, and list the known improvements. Personally, I'd like to see both happen. If the submissions are re-published, add them to the list and link the list in the submission text. I believe I've said "list" more than this submission has said "grue". It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a list.

My vote is for Aria of Sorrow. The run absolutely blew me away when I first saw it on the submission queue, and continued all through the time I first watched it. Tightly optimized, highly entertaining, and most importantly provides an incredible amount of variety, which is what strengthens the first two points the most. Crusader of Centy is a close second for me.

Edit: I managed to get the laptop working again. Admittedly, since the initial loss of the laptop at the beginning of the month, my motivation's been a bit down, but I can say that I've at least made some progress and saved a little over a second within the first 15000 frames. I should get on a steady schedule of working on this run within the week. Just gotta make absolutely goddamn sure this thing stays in one piece.
