Continuances technically last forever. I'd say they're more for people who have put ridiculous amounts of time and effort into an input file already and would rather finish that run instead of spending the same amount of time and effort porting everything over. If I'd spent, say, a year or so running 30 minutes of a 60 minute game, I would most likely ask for a continuance. I wouldn't if I'd spent a couple weeks TASing 2 minutes of a 15 minute game. In your case, you have a little over 7 months to figure it out, but if you're only able to work sporadically/slowly I'd honestly recommend holding out and porting it over to BH once you're able to do so.

You can't manipulate how fast lines come. When you turn in your tray, it erases lines from your end. If there are more lines to erase than you have, the extra ones overflow to the opponent's side.
Slightly inaccurate: You need to erase lines on your side to send them over to your opponent, so it seems like all of the waiting is just to get a good enough number of lines to appear to shove everything back over to the other side. I did manage to get lines to appear earlier by turning in my tray at a certain time, but that's both counterintuitive since you have to turn in the tray, and I think it only applies to a single line anyway, with the next one coming in at the same time regardless. I asked about luck manipulation because I tested the game a little bit to understand the mechanics and ended up getting slightly different lines than in this run, as in everything but 1 or 2 dice is the same. There's also the matter of delaying the start of the game or the end of a match to potentially get a better board configuration in the next one, which I don't think was tested at all. EDIT: Turns out there's a one frame delay at the start menu, for some reason this actually adds a lag frame during the first match and I guess both things combined lead to a slightly different board layout, emphasis being "slightly": A couple dice are changed and the strategy used in the submission doesn't work when doing everything as fast as possible. I don't honestly think this is intentional manipulation, however, just getting lucky with that frame delay. The lag frame can also be removed easily by just delaying the first shot. The problem with these kinds of submissions is that there are a thousand different possibilities, and it's difficult to tell if it's optimized or not without testing a good number of these possibilities. Are these the best possible board configurations? Is this the fastest strategy for every match? What if a slower strategy in one match leads to a much faster strategy in another? That's not to say that everything HAS to be tested to get this to be published, it just means I'm much more hesitant about accepting it. I'd like to do some more testing, or at the very least see some more testing done by the author, before I'm comfortable judging this.

Link to video Welp.
    * Is luck manipulation possible? Is there any way to manipulate what lines you get or how fast they come? * How much strategy went into this run if luck manipulation is possible? Did you test every possible set of lines or did you just go with the first working solution? * Could you please stick to one username for your submissions?

Looking great so far, a lot better and smoother than what we were doing a couple years ago.

This looks to be specific to certain cores (from testing: SNES and N64 get that error, GBA works fine) and doesn't seem to be related to TAStudio at all. It's probably just the usual interim weirdness where things are changing and might not always work.

User movie #30571635771739591 I tried my hand at "improving" Maxim any% using BizHawk, but was unable to finish for two reasons. One reason being that I'm losing frames everywhere, and I'm not sure if it has to do with more accurate emulation or if I'm actually doing something wrong. I know for a fact that loading times are longer, but I'm talking about gameplay: I had to come up with slightly different strategies in a few rooms to get the same warps as in the published run. Second reason being that I'm not entirely sure how to manipulate the crits I need to kill Drac, so the file stops as I enter his chamber. Could someone more knowledgeable with the game help me out? I'm using gstick's verification file from his Maxim all bosses publication.

Is there a way to open .tasproject files made in the older version with the new build? I get an error message saying "Input string was not in a correct format."
Export to BK2 on the older version and open that through TAStudio in the newer version. You'll lose basically everything except the input but it should always work. EDIT:

Just left the new build running unfocused for close to two hours without any freezing or crashing, so maybe my issues were just a one-time fluke.

I've re-uploaded feos' build to MEGA for people who don't get along with rghost.

Oh, yeah, definitely stay away from anything tagged with (b) or [b1]. A bad dump might explain the issue you were having with the game as well. We're likely to reject runs if they use bad dumps, so see what you can do about, er, legally dumping the [!] ROM.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0G_VA4o4DU Testing, might work on this a little more seriously in the future. EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHD1tTKresE Fairly large (1-2 second) improvement here, uses one less throw than the published run. Perhaps other bosses have similar optimizations?

One thing I'd like to ask someone more knowledgeable about this sort of thing is which ROM I should be using. As this game only came out in Europe, there is no American ROM. I'm currently using 'Tintin in Tibet (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Nl)'. Is this the best one to use?
Compare it to GoodSNES and see if it's a perfect [!] dump.

Alright. I would recommend cancelling the submission and working on an optimized version, perhaps posting your work to userfiles before the next submission. Oh, and welcome to the site!

Yeah, just managed to get both the freeze and the crash to happen without Float From Parent, although the crash when opening TAStudio seems to be happening a lot less often now. I'll keep looking into it. EDIT: I thought it might be the configs I loaded from my old 1.11.6, but it's still happening on a fresh file.

Well, the first notable problem with that build (apart from being on rghost ._.) is that it can't load Genesis games, but that's not specific to TAStudio. So far, branches are working beautifully again, which is what I wanted most. Autosave is working, huge props for giving the option to autosave as BK2 and for autosave only activating when changes are made. On a whim, I tested an N64 game and it seems to be completely stable now, though I don't remember testing it on 1.11.6 so it could have already been fixed. A couple extremely small issues with N64: * Typing in analog inputs will conflict with hotkeys: For example, "-123" will result in lowering the speed, then selecting branches 1, 2 and 3, bringing up the "Branch X does not exist" message if those branches don't exist. Would it be possible to disable hotkeys temporarily in this case? * Similarly, raising/lowering the value with the up/down arrow keys will scroll the piano roll alongside, making it somewhat difficult to keep track of the value while making small adjustments. It all works beautifully apart from those tiny little trivialities. There's a major problem, however, one I'm hesitant to bring up because I can't for the life of me figure out how to reliably reproduce it: There's a freezing/crashing issue that, as far as I can tell, is related to BizHawk losing focus. If I tab over to another window and come back, sometimes BizHawk/TAStudio freezes and has to be killed via Task Manager. This also occasionally happens before TAStudio is opened: Tabbing over to another window, coming back and opening TAStudio will result in a standard "stopped responding" crash. I wish I could give more specific information than that, but it really does seem to just happen randomly whenever BH is in the background. The closest I've gotten to reliable reproduction is letting BH run unpaused and unfocused, then coming back and opening TAStudio: I got it to crash 3 times in a row, but then it didn't crash another 3 times in a row, so there has to be something more to it apart from just losing window focus.

I think the run's interesting as it is, but I admit I have different tastes than most of the crowd here. Definitely a publishable game, though, so I'd recommend keeping at it. Question: In the opening part, what are the specific conditions needed for the purple "bosses" to spawn? That whole section looks a tiny bit iffy with all the waiting around, though I'm assuming that's specifically so you can kill the last one right before the door you need to go through.

No point in responding to him anymore, he's long gone. Apparently, even though he shouts horrible racial slurs at hecklers during his comedy routines, he can't handle someone slightly aggressively giving him the information he desires.

Let's not let things get out of hand, here. Kramer, as both Invariel and zeromus have suggested, try running the prerequisite installer and seeing if EmuHawk works after that. If that fails, read through the BizHawk wiki page to see if your problems are addressed there. Yes, this is an exact retread of Invariel's post, but it does need to be heard since it should have answered every question/problem you're having.

Thread #17925: Bizhawk issues This thread in the Newbie forum got me to look up how to reproduce the bug being talked about. Quick GIF of the bug in action: Easy reproduction steps: 1. Create a new tasproj 2. Record 20 blank frames 3. Drag down some new input from frame 10 to frame 30 4. Frame advance a few times without going past the end of the new input 5. Drag down a different piece of input from any frame past frame 30
