If you have some spare minutes while working on the news feed, could you add a <guid> tag to each <item>? You should be able to simply copy the contents of the <link> since those seem to be unique and permanent. It would really help out us lurkers whose feed readers need guids to track new items and changes.

I don't have the video files with me at the moment, but I recorded using the settings described in the article: ffdshow with H.264 lossless video and sound settings which I completely forget. I have AviSynth, VirtualDub, ffdshow, mencoder, etc. installed and will install whatever it takes to get this done (I'm doing the encoding on a dedicated computer whose fate doesn't concern me). It is not easy to tell whether or not the sound desync happens in the RAW file since my drives are not capable of handling the bitrate; but as far as I can tell the desync isn't there. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the muxing stage in the article, but I could be completely making things up since this is new territory for me. I'll be able to be on IRC later tonight, perhaps around 00:00 UTC (7:00 PM ET).

Hello, I have recorded a movie for Mupen64 Re-Recording and would like to do a video encode. I have tried following the directions on the articles page, but I have read somewhere on the forum that they are out of date and no longer reflect standard practice. The movie itself is long -- just a few minutes over 5 hours. Since Mupen dies after recording video files above a few GB, I had to use the AviSplit version (which itself had a few bugs with file naming that I had to correct by rewriting and recompiling). After the recording, I joined these files using mencoder and doing a copy of the video and audio. I now have a giant file (iirc it's around 84 GB) of the entire sequence. What is the best way to transcode this video to a manageable size? Following the article resulted in a movie with desynced sound. I also haven't seen any forum posts that specifically addressed this problem. I'm looking to have a final encoding with a resolution of 1280x960, although I could settle for smaller if such a beast is impossible to create with a quality bitrate. I don't mind if the final encode is up to 10GB in size. Is using something like MeGUI a viable option? Just to clarify: this video is not a TAS and I am not seeking a video publication. I hope that won't prevent someone from providing assistance. Thanks for any help!
