How does this compare to the RTA record without factoring in loads/playing on PS2? Is there any way of figuring that out easily?
I'm working on a comparison video right now that has the two runs side-by-side, without loads. I haven't finished editing it yet but the TAS is already ahead by about 6 seconds leaving the Agumon Fight.

The last PSX BIOS revision that was put on actual PSone consoles was revision 4.6 - in the PS3's firmware, there is a PSX BIOS revision that is labelled 5.0. Is this BIOS revision allowed or forbidden?

I'm tryna TAS all the Robot Wars Games - right now, the only ones available to me are Advanced Destruction and Extreme Destruction. Arenas Of Destruction I can't get to because there isn't a reliable enough PS2/Xbox emulator (unless it'd work through Hourglass?), and Metal Mayhem isn't available to me either because there isn't a win condition for that game. I'm considering maybe TAS'ing the Battlebots GBA game, too. I'll upload encodes of all of the WIP TAS'es I have in due time (The Extreme Destruction "tournament mode" TAS I did already got accepted, and that was the most boring one, so... :P ) Temp Encodes'll be here in due time.

Really wanna TAS this, but sadly the only emulator that works with it... is Mupen64Plus. Seems like it was a recent fix as well - one that upgrading the N64 core would fix - but until that's done, would TAS'ing this in Mupen64Plus be accepted? I read that it was deprecated, and I'm really unsure, but would also really love to TAS this little beauty. It also came out on PS1, but the load times on that're so long that it's kinda pointless doing it on the platform.

Do you have any plans on tackling the other modes? If so, you could combine them with this movie if you unlock all the gold parts.
You can't unlock all the gold parts without challenging somebody else who has a copy of the game (and the other gold parts you haven't earned on this save) to a "Grudge Match" to win the gold parts off of them. It's impossible to earn all the gold parts otherwise. I've already finished a TAS of the Gauntlet mode, which is somewhat more interesting - definitely has more strategy - that I was planning on uploading after the fate of this was decided.
Is the following incorrect then?

Repeated plays through the game have given some insight into obtaining these elusive parts, and I list my findings here. These should be treated as speculation, though they do seem reliable: (1) Win the Gold rank Tournament. (2) Win the Gold rank Tournament versus the House Robots. (3) Win _all_ of the Gold rank Bash 'n' Dash versus the House Robots. (4) Win _all_ of the Gold rank Mayhem versus the House Robots. I still can't figure out where the fifth one comes from, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I once found one after doing a Gauntlet challenge, suggesting replaying a random challenge is needed to get the last Gold Part for the game. Any further information for this would be incredibly valuable, so please do let me know if you can tell me anything!
Yes. Completing Gauntlet does not warrant any gold part, and the only gold part earned reliably is Gold Traction for completing the House Robot Tournament. Also, as evidenced in the TAS, you don't earn a gold part for completing Gold Tournament, you only win a gold part for the House Robot Tournament. The gold parts you earn via Bash 'n' Dash & Mayhem are RNG-based, but some Gold part can at least be earned that way, even if you don't know what part it'll be. Regardless, there are 5 gold parts in total, and you can only earn 3 per save file.

I'm confused about the "House Robot Tournament". Is it accessed by simply choosing gold again?
Yeup - you just choose Gold again after completing Gold once. It's technically a separate tournament though, as there's different competitors.

I had to watch it at half-speed just to fully digest what was going on. My god, that was incredible. It's a yes from me.

Then why wasn't it reported in the bug tracker? That's literally step one when you encounter such an issue.
I reported it on the Bizhawk github issues, not this one. I'll report it here too.

That may actually be the most boring TAS of all time, other than the inherently un-TASable Desert Bus. Drive backwards and push robots into the pit again and again and again. Towards the end, a few vehicles drove themselves into the pit, or put up a bit of a fight on the way into the pit. Good thing it was only 5 minutes. Definitely vaultable but, entertainment-wise, that was my easiest No vote ever. Love the Craig Charles version of the show, though!
Fair enough - really, I'm just getting this category of the TAS out of the way so I can do the other, more entertaining TAS category - the Gauntlet! Actual strategy there, I'm working on it right now, and I'm looking forward to showcasing that a lot more than I did this. Don't lose hope - this game has more to offer yet! :D

Voted meh also. It's nice to see a Robot Wars TAS. Maybe the Gameboy Color version will get TASed one day. That was the one I played as a kid. The 8-bit music in that version was awesome!
Can that one be completed, and if so, in how much time? TBH, I'm just looking for more games to play until the Bizhawk devs update to the latest GlideN64 core. Then I'll be able to TAS the game I -really- wanna do... Might do Advanced Destruction while I'm at it, too! I agree with all the Meh votes, TBH - hence why I wrote in the submission "Intended for Vault" :P

Thanks for trimming the blank inputs! I assume it works okay? Whoops, haha, my bad on that one. I'm using one of the Dev versions of Bizhawk for this, that's why I didn't specify. Just tested it on default 2.3 and it seems to work fine also.

Help me TASVideos, you're my only hope... Basically need a team effort to finally help crack the coveted Tutorial Skip. It's bothered me long enough, so I'm throwing it out to the community. The Tutorial Skip is a long-theorised skip which would allows us to save 5 minutes with a single, well-placed OOB or jump. Countless hours have gone into attempting it, with no success thus far. We know that it's possible because of videos like this, showing that the room loops back in on itself: https://go.twitch.tv/videos/117045341?t=03m20s However, the above video was only achieved with cheats. We in the HP1PS1 speedrunning community want to find a way to do this without cheating, either with an extremely precise jump, or with an OOB clip off of the edge of one of the bookshelves. This point in the game is only 5 or so minutes in, so if anyone wants to acquire a copy of the game and attempt it, it'd be much appreciated. We -know- it's possible, we just don't know -how- it's possible.

Giving it a tentative Yes. The amount you skip is impressive, but the movement (particularly the camera) feels unoptimal, and there's a lot of slow stuff. Would be interested in seeing you TAS the PS1 version of Chamber of Secrets regardless.
There's quite a lot of movement optimization - the camera is unoptimized because which direction the camera is facing also influences which direction HP runs in - they're not independent of each other, like in SM64; if you turn the camera left, HP turns with it also. The slow stuff - daddy, if there was a quicker way, I woulda done it. We're always looking for more skips and timesaves over in the HP speedrunning scene, so maybe this run'll be updated in 6 months or so? We'll wait and see... Chamber of Secrets... Phoo. For me to TAS something, I have to have some sort of nostalgic connection to it, and I never played Chamber Of Secrets on PS1. Plus, it's an hour or so longer than this game, and honestly, an hour of TAS'ing is a lot to ask from a casual viewer, never mind two. That's not to say I'm not thinking of doing another PS1 TAS, though! Ghost In The Shell looks very promising, and a lot more action-packed than this game, so look forward to that sometime this year!

Oh, trust me, I would -kill- for a Gringotts skip. Qudditch I don't mind that much, 'cuz at least it's fun to play, but Gringotts is just... eww.

And there's nothing on his account (besides a v1) so... Shima where's the encode? I ain't doing it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's uploading to YT as we speak. It probably doesn't suit half of the TAS guidelines though, it's just a reference render if anything. Expect it sometime within the next 6 hours, it's at 76% right now.

Do note that this is still your input that you provided through mediafire only that I corrected your large blank in input at the end like I wrote.
Duly noted.

An issue with greenzone perhaps. Go to edit and Clear savestate history and see if it still syncs..
Nope, still syncs, even with the savestate history cleared. This isn't the first time that Bizhawk has had an issue with HP1, or even the only issue it has. Audio in certain cutscenes, such as the opening cutscene and the cutscene of Hermione going into the Upper Castle section, are glitched and choppy. I'll upload a temporary encode until we get the glitch fixed - expect that sometime tomorrow.

I've re-created the .bk2 and uploaded it. Let me know if this version de-syncs also - if it doesn't, I'll replace the file in the submission; if it does, then something else is the issue. https://www.mediafire.com/?o3h8u26hoxd0hcq

Right, replayed the TAS on a fresh install of Bizhawk, and you're right, it does desync. I'll try and solve this sometime tonight - expect an update soon! ...Okay... The mystery gets even deeper.
