It's really nice to see some planning and stuff for this game, especially Gunty's lua scripts looks pretty damn interesting and helpful ;) I've finished this game several times because of the great story, level grinding etc. so you better complete this run in the future before I do something really horrible!

EDIT: Also, the precedent (set by this game in fact) is that bot rerecords don't count towards the final rerecord count. Thus, the rerecord count of this movie should be modified.
Thanks. Because we messed up with our rerecord count, the real non-bot one lies somewhere around 60 000 to 70 000 rerecords. Overall this doesn't matter and I can't seem to solve this riddle even from my backups. If it's ok, just add a random number like: 65313, 69231, 64989, 68997 etc.

The topic of a glitchless run seems to surface each time new more significant glitches are discovered. But nobody is starting to do make one. Is it because of the intimidating subpixel optimization expectations?
Mhh.. I think people just don't know the requirements to make a one, like me who have thinked doing a one many times in the past. It might depend about the person itself but I myself can't see any reason why not to try something new, fun, weird, different or challenging project for a while. I'm pretty sure there are there are many other games with hard(er) subpixel functions like Gimmick! and later mega man games.

No need to be afraid about bots because refill manipulations are optimized and played by a hand and for a good reason too, only ones with bots are DelayStageClear glitches which are impossible to perform without them. Yes, DelayWaterCurrent is possible without any botting, you'll just need to get NMI's NEXT value to "1" which was somewhat easy in Iceman stage because conditions there was more better than we expected. We tried to keep eye on rerecord count because a few people requested to keep bot recordings safe too. Since I had to go out from school apartment because of autumn break, I forgot to save my record log for W1's DelayStageClear and I only remember my first botting took something like 50 000-56 000 rerecords and second attempt took more than 100 000 rerecords so I didn't include them in the run. Own personal playing and optimization took around 60 000~70 000 rerecords.
How many rerecords were done by the bot? In my opinion, you should either substract all bot-rerecord counts from the run, or include all of them in the it, instead of only include some of them. I incline to the former choice because you don't give credit to the bot(s) who did 99.999999% of the whole job as a main author(s), though. Yes vote for great justice, anyway.
Bot did a bit over 4 million rerecords in total with DelayStageClears. Because I forgot exact numbers for those attempts I wasn't sure if it is ok to add a wrong number in our movie, still it's fixable if we put like 150 000 rerecords (this is really close to the real number) more to the movie. I just felt a bit anxious and unsure with it.

I think he meant more like why you didn't do it earlier, like right after Elec Man, potentially reducing lag in Ice Man and Fire Man stages.
This. In fact, if it could be done without any special weapons then you could do Bomb Man FIRST and have a weapon to beat up Elec Man with.
Oh, I misunderstood. DelayStageClear needs Elecman's weapon without it is impossible to perform, also this route decision was done by how we change weapons along the way. When I used magnet beam to zip in the beginning of the Gutsman stage it helped me to gain 9 frames and it seemed to have some kind of connection while glitching (seen in Cutmans stage too), zipping was more smoother on the top of the screen. I can't think any places where that kind of behaviour could be prevented in Fireman's stage and there's not much lag to begin with. In Iceman's stage it's essential to have lag in the beginning in order to make NMI's NEXT value to "0" incl. that enemy in the progress, and I don't see how it could help there either. I bet Iceman's later lag is unavoidable since there's already magnet beams, double speed and a couple of different enemies around of you while you glitch through the rooms. I noticed the difference in the first zip of Gutsman and in the whole first screen of Cutman stages and later glitch rooms (both stages has different zipping compared to other stages because they "shakes"). In Wily stages I didn't find any differences in lag behaviour. Your question was good and I keep it in my mind. I might want to check it out sooner or later if it has any relation with Iceman or Fireman stages. Also I'll check it out if DelayStageClear needs some further requirements in Bombman stage.

Question: If Bombman can be completely skipped and afterwards reduces some amounts of lag (as you say in the description of gutsman's level), wouldn't it make sense to do it whenever you like, in particular before the level that would benefit most from this effect?
If that were possible we would have done it in that way. DelayStageClear is a glitch which won't work on other stages and compatible ones are Bombman, W1 and W2 stages. DelayStageClears effect is always the same throughout the whole run because it doesn't write some part of the sxreen if I recall correctly also it doesn't change screen changing time at all. In final battle there's some extra lag because background is glitched and shows more stuff in the screen which makes it a bit slower.

Watched while ripping video for encoding. Mind blown. I've seen DelayStageClear in action before in the improvement threads, but I did not suspect it would glitch the balance of the game heavily. I think we can now consider Rockman to be as heavily broken as some of our other famous heavily glitched TASes (S3&K comes to mind). Obvious yes vote.
Thanks. It really does weird things to the game like it makes graphics really glitchy, sometimes it helped you a bit like in the beginning of Gutsman and Cutman stages to get some lag off also in later rooms (game doesn't write certain sprites in the bottom I believe). In last Wily Machine fight we had a big bunch of extra lag because there was some extra sprites and stuff on the screen so it made the whole boss fight totally different.

I forgot to notice but nicovideo streaming links offers an encode which shows your Y/X position, a little map with a block and weapon selection screen. If you want to question me about rerecord count, own personal playing took around 60~70k and any other rerecords came from optimized Delay bots which we used for DelayObjectTech and DelayStageClears. This is just a note if someone misses it (same information exists in this submission).

After I saw morimoto and FinalFighter's Rockman 2 run somewhere around the spring of 2005. Firstly I though some crazy Japaneses played everything in real time and I was curious to know more about it. Later on I realized it was done by tools and I was more than impressed by my find.

Week numbers are evil because they differ from standard to standard. So you mean Oct. 25 to 31. During that week I'm not likely farther from Helsinki by average than I am now, probably closer even.
Oh yeah I didn't even think about standards. Damn you standards! Yes, from Oct. 25 to 31 is correct.

Hello people! I'm planning to visit Helsinki to see my sister somewhere around autumn holidays. I'm not sure about the date yet (week is 43, from Oct. 25 to 31) because I have to discuss it more with my sister and see how things will turn out. Particularly I'm not going to do anything special during my little journey, just hanging around etc. I have no objections if someone is encouraged enough to meet me there. I'll be updating this thread a bit when things gets more clear to me and If there's something you want to mention, recommend or anything you desire or want me to know about that weird city, feel free to. EDIT1. Date is now confirmed and it's 28 Oct. thursday and I'll be leaving Helsinki somewhere around 31 Oct. sunday.

pirate_sephiroth.. I must say this once, you're a genius from another dimension which got split by my own power which I discovered in the past. You are my creation.. no you are both my creation and your own will! You behave like a brave warrior from distant stars. We should travel together through cosmic voids and gather tools from another dimensions to make better tool-assisted speedruns. Oh this poetry.. no insanity which flows in my veins is calling you to sleep in my bosom. Let us feel the grand renewal of terrific passion!!

So... why even bother submitting this version, especially since it's only 237 frames faster? Sounds like a major waste of time to me (similar to the currently published run. Notice a trend?)
This game has a long history and all we do love to waste time on this game and improvements. You're not in our shoes but sometimes by wasting time might lead to something interesting, like pointing the weird construction of Item 1 out which took some time to find out.

Finally this one and big burden came off from my shoulders. I really seek forward to aglasscage's ambitious plans in the future because he can make impossible things possible. Also I'm pretty happy there's people around in Japan who wishes and wants to help much as possible with tricks no one else are capable of. I'm still amazed about pirohiko's determination towards delay screenscrollings and so on, how in the heck he optimizes them? Like stated before he's known as pirobot too. It's great to be alive and see things going like this.

Hey TAShoneys, I have a request for you. If there's any possibility please remove my name from there. Basically I am not an author of this movie because my WIP is slightly outdated, I didn't put much spirit and time to it so it was a bit like test 'n round thing and if I remember correctly I did it somewhere around 2006. I don't feel being credited by a WIP I did the past which was almost forgotten by me due new discoveries and improvements I've already found. If anyone else is interested to use my playing from Heatman -> Flashman feel free to copy and modify as you like, this is officially open source bitches. Also a nice work you have there woabclf, I have to say your understanding and calculating through NMI, NEXT etc. scrollings are great and your playing is improved a bit from the last time. Woabctl you can use your own name in the author section.
sgrunt kirjoitti: I get a desync in Wily 1, and I'm apparently not alone in this respect if IRC is any indication. Apparently the ROM checksum doesn't match what's listed in the input file. Has anyone been able to get this to play back successfully?
I had same problem in the past when I saw woabctl's WIP through my friend who is much in contact with him. It was fixed by a new copy of ROM or different IPS patch.
