This is probably the easiest "No" vote I will ever cast. Even within the first chapter there are noticeable unoptimized movements, and even some mistakes. This only makes sense based on the rerecord count which shows that you did not spend that much time on this. The fact that you created this while other members of the community were working on the "real" TAS, and you had the audacity to submit it even though it's horribly unoptimized is just... I don't even know what to say. Looks like you want the credit for something you put less effort into. No submission text to explain / credit the tricks and skips to their finders. You opted to make your own movie rather than help the community work on the in-progress one. If the amazing TAS from Karaage never got published here, then this movie 10,000x does not deserve to be published here either, sorry.

why would you want to put 150k rerecords into something and then act like explaining your movie is outside the scope of what you have time for lol

I have to completely agree with c-square here. The concept is really cool and I think this is quite interesting, but I don't think this is a movie that should be published because it's not a "real" game that existed in this exact form before the run.

Is there a reason for selecting particular characters for particular worlds beyond entertainment value (i.e. does the character you play as make a difference)?
Ah right we forgot to mention that in the notes. No, in this game all characters are identical other than their sprites. We cycled through them between each world just for fun, and because it doesn't lose any time menu-ing to them.

Quick update to let people know this project is not abandoned: we currently have 13 levels left to TAS to beat the human record on. 95/108 levels have been done and we have started working on this more again a couple days ago. (We stopped posting progress and levels as we TASed them because we want to save everything for one big reveal when we submit it.)

I just wanted to drop in to say that the absolutely massive shortcut that Gonquai takes on Deadline was thought of years ago as a theory strat and was never done until now, and it's as awesome as I always dreamed it would be. If you have never played this game, it's almost a bit hard to comprehend how ridiculous the collision is throughout this entire run. Mega yes from me, the craziness of the strategies and optimization of this run came as a surprise from me even after you told me you started working on this. Great job!!

I just thought I would mention that almost all of the levels being played twice would look completely different the second time around. Collecting bananas fast means a much different route for each level compared to going for time. The reason we are asking is because doing this instead of new game+ essentially doubles the length of the movie and the amount of work we will put in. I remember many people asking for SMB1 TAS that goes for bananas and score, so I figured people might want to see it here too. So the real question is would you want to see every stage played twice, even if the gameplay were quite different the second time? Thanks for any input.

I was entertained. Yes vote for moons. As for rebranding, none is needed. The published run is already a "playaround". This would simply be a new publication without obsoleting the existing one.
Exact same for me. Yes vote for publication. I was entertained by this movie as much as the currently published one.

Improving a 5 minute game by 2 minutes? Impressive. I would really love to see more notes and comments about the run, if you get the chance. Yes vote from me.

People have given feedback that a TAS of expert mode for this game is too long and not entertaining enough to accept. But I would love to make one and see what you think :P

Shouldn't you start from expert mode?
Beating Expert and the extra stages don't let you continue on to Master in this game. Also I think most people wouldn't find a full 30 stages of this game entertaining enough to watch.

Posting here to say I'm starting a TAS of this game, but no promises of ever finishing it. The people in the Monkey Ball community have not started routing the banana grinding, but we will get around to it if the TAS ever gets that far.

I don't see anyone improving on this movie (mainly because nobody will ever bother :P)
Hi, I'm Spikestuff and I already fixed your TAS.
sheeeeeeeit apparently I'm stupid because I don't see an option to change the movie file. Do I have to cancel this submission and upload the new fixed one?
