The GBA version is way different than the NES version. It's easy mode from the PS1, with new dungeons added in.
Pretty much no two versions of FF1 are the same. PS1 fixes glitches, GBA is easy mode, and PSP has some crazy equipment glitches.
Basically, while we (the player) see things as two separate castles, the game stores things smashed together into one giant map. When you leave via the intended exits, the game knows where to put you. But when you leave via unintended routes, the game moves you to areas that are stored in memory next to where you currently are, thus allowing you to often warp between the castles.
If you've ever heard how Zelda 1's dungeon maps are stored, this is basically the same thing.
I think an exception should be made for the code used in this game, because without it, the entertainment factor would go through the floor. As long as there's a notice saying that "we don't normally except runs with cheat codes, please see our rules as to why" I'm absolutely OK with this run being on the site.
Voting yes for moons.
Please look at some of the Street Fighter runs on the site. They are way more entertaining than your attempt at a playaround. You basically shoved them into a corner and did the same combos over and over. Not entertaining. Sorry.
Voting no.
Edit: My personal favorite is the 2 player vs 1 CPU run. THAT is how you do it.
If this run ever gets improved/redone, I would love to see the credits actually played to see how fast you can get through it while dodging everything, or getting all the bananas. Or something like that.
I think all 100% Souls runs of Dawn/Aria of Sorrow should have to get the Chaos Ring as proof to the viewer from now on.
Big ass YES vote from me. That was an awesome watch.
The faster boss fight at the end looks sort of ugly, though, when you hang out on the boss and take damage. (I realize it saves you time in the score countdown at the end.)
That is an insane setup for those three fights.
Zidane, I mean Gecko, might as well be alone, with friends like those.
"Please die so I get all the EXP k thx."
Voting yes for vaulting this run, replacing the current run.
Would also love to see a run sometime of this FFV romhack: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1408/
Please stop saying things like this. I know they're not your words, but I'm saying in general that this isn't right.
I'm saying this from the suicidal person's point of view, because I've been in that situation more than once: Even if you talk to someone, that's not a guarantee at all that they'll listen to you. It's not a guarantee that they'll understand you or even attempt to help you. In my experience, I've had people shy away from me, or people try to tell me to "be happy" without even bothering to help otherwise. I've had people refuse to speak to me because they didn't want me to "bring them down". I've even had people tell me to just go ahead and do it.
Three things about this I need to address.
1. My friend zidanax committed suicide 3 years ago. NOBODY had a clue. There was no indication to any of us. I knew him from two different forums and there was no idea. No warnings.
2. You're somewhat right, but also somewhat wrong. It's important to talk to people, but it does have to be the right person. If a person is a true friend and understanding, the least they can do is listen. They may not have the answers, but at least getting it out may help some.
3. The worst thing you can do is keep it in. When I was around the age of Rachael and zidanax, I felt some of those same feelings. It's horrible, especially if you're all alone. I'm fortunate that I made it through, but I'm sure my problems paled in comparison to those two. While I probably shouldn't compare (and I'm trying not to), I do understand those feelings to some extent.
There is not one solution for everybody, but keeping everything in and trying to pretend the problem doesn't exist won't help anybody. Especially not yourself.
Nice. I was curious to the limit on some of the bosses. Try Baladium, the only boss that I think the time is unbeatable unless somebody manages to find a way to hit more than 2 pieces at a time.
I'm also curious about Evil Seadoph, mostly in regards to RNG. I got a patter in that run that I've yet to have seen since then and I'm curious if it has to deal with how I played or if I haven't been that lucky since.
Voting yes and hoping that the XBLA or PC versions will be emulated someday to replace the GC version, because I'm always sad that the story was removed from the GC version.
Also kinda curious why you let the chain counter get so lopsided in Final Chapter? Come on, let Shinra go out in a blaze of glory, dammit. The text of the final chapter is about him and the Ikaruga. :P
