Thought, I have one question... how can use use frame advance with controller? You need to use the keyboard anyway for this, right? ..despite using a script.
You can use JoyToKey or Xpadder. @Sir VG: I already answered that question to you many times before: just keep using the plugin that worked for you. The only thing that ever changed was the name of the plugin folder, so make sure you're using the new folder (I explained this to you before in greater detail, too).
The folder changed? That explains why it wasn't even showing up on the list. Granted going from plugin to plugins is something I guess is easy to miss. I remember in 0.09 that it kept killing my plugin choice for whatever reason. Glad to see it's not doing it now. I still thing the flaw in the default plugin is stupid and should be fixed, or a different plugin should be provided as the default.

In comparing just times with your old run, I notice that the following levels are supposedly slower: 1-4 3-5 You mentioned something about a time item in the prior attempt. Care to explain why it was not used in this one?

There is a glitch I discovered in Super Princess Peach. If you jump on top of a Big Chain Chomp and stay on there long enough (a second or two) and then jump, you will get a huge burst of speed.
Interesting. Do you have any videos of it in action?

I wish the issue with USB controllers not being able to be used would be fixed. It's weird that the plugin allows me to set the controls, but when the emulator is run, no input is recognized. This issue has been around since 0.9 due to the change in plugins (the one with 0.7 worked just fine). And the controller works just fine in ePSXe too. Drives me nuts, cause I don't wanna use a keyboard. Granted, then again, Castlevania Chronicles crashes at the menu screen, so can't run it anyways. -_-

This game makes about as much sense as the show itself did.

9) Bubble Bobble: Level 57
Agreed on that. DAMN I hated that level. Thankfully it's not in the arcade version nor Bubble Bobble Plus.

Well, here's a new tool-assisted record by WaddleDX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToZsIhTXJu4 I'm not sure that it is publishable, but it definitely proves a point.
...GEEZUS. That...was...AWESOME!! Now if that was submitted, I would so vote for a yes on that. That was quite entertaining.

Thanks for bumping an old thread with the obvious, which anybody could have figured out by watching the speed run...

Also, keeping Zero alive could also count as a 'percent', and also counts for 'best ending'. Not having the saber also gives us more entertaining boss battles in the rematches.
Seconded. Not only because it would be more interesting, but given that you'll have to get the Gold Armor, you'll have to do some MAJOR charging just to get up to saber level anyways.

Well, anything StrangenessDSS does is always gonna be good. :-P But yeah, Wario World and Wario Land: Shake It! would both be good choices.

Looks like the default controls (except Select): D-Pad is the stand alone arrows Start is Enter A is Z B is X Not sure what Select is tied into Make sure also that Windows' focus is on VBA, not on something else.

I'm aware of that, Phallosvogel. It is a major shame though. I would love to have a Megaman game I can actually play with friends and family. It's why I've taken such a strong and quick liking to New Super Mario Bros Wii. Can't help but laugh at Spiked wall Man though.

Works now. Having played this game, I know that it's a tough game, but you make it look easy. The 4th boss on (except the final boss) really has crazy amounts of HP...the 2nd from the last has waaaay too much HP I say. That boss is by far the hardest and yet you managed to goof it up and find a totally safe spot right in its face. NICE. I enjoyed it. Voting YES.

Yay! I loved playing this game, though frankly it's tough as nails, even on the PC-E mode. The final drop to the boss is a bitch. I tried to watch the DailyMotion encode, but they're having troubles...

Did anyone else notice that in the opening movie (right after choosing game start) Richter slams his hand down on the map that showed where you were in the original Castlevania between levels?
Of course. He's thinking "Damn! Due to the power of chaos, this map left by my forefathers is useless!"

Initially, I thought FFCC: The Crystal Bearers would be too long for a TAS, since I figured it would be about 7 hours. Given that my speed run is down to about 4.5, it should be a bit more bearable. Of course, if you don't need all the life that I do, you would cut out almost every fight there is, leaving the 4 boss fights in the game. It might not be that entertaining of a run. Would make a good movie though. :-P

What was the purpose of switching to Richter right before killing Dracula? Wouldn't it have been faster to stick with Maria? Or does that not get you the "good ending" you're going for?
Maria's ending is the same no matter how many people you save. Richter's ending changes if you save everybody. Edit: Just to note something I found while console playing this, it is very easy for even a console player to pull off Maria in the black wall trick in Stage 3 while going towards battling Minotaur. I've just never done it before or thought of it until this run.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about that bomb in Stage 4 in order to get to Stage 4' boss. I was also just used to doing Stage 3 after Stage 2, from doing any% runs. The theory works...I'm just so damn rusty at the game, I need to get back in tune with it to do it, but the route works.

I use dirty SRAM and you use a cheat code. I guess we both suck then, huH? :-P Granted my timing is different then yours anyways. Not only would SDA not count the intros, but it doesn't appear to count the reset timings either. Granted the current run there is no longer my best effort - I just haven't submitted my newer time since I've been looking for a few more shortcuts and tricks. That one in Stage 4 at the beginning of your run is nice. Edit: I'll admit that this run has given me an idea to look at when doing an improvement to the 100% speed run: [Richter] Stage 0 -> Stage 1 (Wyvern) -> Stage 2 (Rescue Maria) (Werewolf) [RESET] [Switch to Maria] Stage 1 (Serpent) -> Stage 2' (B. Golem) -> Stage 3' (Rescue Tera) (Dogether) -> Stage 4' (Rescue Iris) (Dullahan) -> Stage 5 (Death) -> Stage 6 (Shaft) -> Stage 7 (Rescue Annette) (Shaft's Ghost) -> Stage 8 (Dracula) [RESET] Stage 3 (Minotaur) -> Stage 4 (Laura/Carmilla) -> Stage 5' [RESET] [Show 100% status]

Normally, I'd object to the code, but those who haven't played Dracula X Chronicles should know that in that release, beating Death (not Dracula!) allows access to Stage 5'. The downside is that it does create an unfair comparison to the speed run since it is forced to beat Dracula before going to 5' and finishing at Stage 6.
