There's no way that this can obsolete Castlevania - Dracula X. That would be like doing a run on Metroid and obsoleting Super Mario Bros 3.
I disagree on this, well, the games are vastly different, also, theres 3 rondo movies in total :p (if not 4... since apparently its a big deal to mr.sirvg to take stage4, im on doing stage4', witch will be WAY less entertaining, of course)
My regards to Stage 4 vs Stage 4' is speed. Especially with Maria doing Stage 4' is considerably faster then Stage 4. Even from a speed run perspective, I can do Stage 4' 30 seconds faster then Stage 4, since it's straight shot. Yes, it's less entertaining, but you have to balance it here. There's plenty of more exciting levels then Stage 4 or 4'. And you fight the same boss anyways. That's all.

It sounds like you tried to use an old version. Try this: http://mednafen-rr.googlecode.com/files/mednafen-rr-249-pce-mc2.zip
Yes, it's old...now. But 227 was the newest download at the time I downloaded. But I still run into the same issues with 249. mc2 won't play, and the audio is off.
mednafen.exe -mov "D:\Games\mednafen\richter.mc2" DraculaX\DraculaX.bin -play 1 "D:\Games\mednafen\SYSCARD3.PCE"
It launches the program but just sits on the Press Run screen.

I must say, after trying this emulator for a few minutes, I hate it. Especially the audio desync issue. It works perfectly fine in MagicEngine, but fails horrifically in here. And the front end doesn't want to recognize or run the MC2 properly. Yes, I know you can just use the command prompt, but if you're putting an emulator out there with a front and and it doesn't work as it should, maybe it should wait a bit. Granted I don't know how to fix any of this, so I shouldn't speak so loudly, but I just think PC-Engine games aren't ready for TASVideos yet.

THAT is what a good fighting game TAS should be - fast, filled with glitches, and keeping the viewer guessing. Excellent work. YES vote from me.

One thing I don't like from the get go is you're using a dirty ISO. I can tell because the BGM is off. Hopefully it won't affect syncing, though it shouldn't because BGM is position based pulled from the disc. (This generally happens when people are using the ISO+MP3/WAV version that went around for years.) Stage 2 Notes To my recollection, you can't die from Werewolf's Final Attack, which will drop your life to 1. Nothing major. Also, you should be able to item crash the key, like in CDX, which should get you up higher then what you did. Did you check this? Stage 3/4 Notes I'm fairly sure that even for Richter, fighting Dogether and going through Stage 4' and then fighting Dullahan is faster then battling Minotaur and going through Stage 4. Stage 7 Notes Getting Shaft's ghost to appear means you have to hit the mid point. It's not time set, so you need to move over faster. Stage 8 Notes That last hit on Dracula's 2nd form probably cost more time then avoiding it. Overall, pretty good. I think it can be improved though. Giving it a MEH.

What ending?
The ending of the video (2nd quest).

Wait wait...you can kill him with the fricken KEY?! Damn that's hilarious! BTW, for the any% run you are going to Dogether in Stage 3? Stage 4' is much quicker then Stage 4 (especially with Maria).

Might be because he ends his movies after the credits, according to his submission texts. I can't get this movie to sync up on any version of Gens. I've even tried using different versions of the game as well as converting it (Who knows if that could even help/hurt). I've tried messing with settings, deleting config files but still nothing. But reading in your submission text, it sounds like you found another place to zip.
Even if he ends after the credits, it's STILL longer. Credits run about 3.5 minutes. This movie is 8 minutes longer then the published submission. You do the math. And I've tried Gens 10a, 9Z,, and I can't find a copy of gens_movie_9j anywhere (google search only turns up 5 results!). But even if I could play it, I think this is a very easy no vote looking at the time. (Hell, unless it ends after the credits, it's slower then the UNASSISTED speed run!)

Well, it's faster for speed running purposes, but while Richter has faster movement, Maria CREAMS bosses with Guardian Fist. Richter TASed may attack bosses faster, but question is...how much time will Maria make up on all the other enemies because she can attack better?

We haven't been NESVideos in what, 3 years? And since Bisqwit isn't our overlord anymore, that should probably be changed too.

Agreed. While somebody did a speed run video some time back of Maria only while saving everybody (So they started in Stage 1 and took the alternate route the entire way, sans 5'), there's no point for TAS purposes. As a note for restarts for the any%/100%, you have to wait until at least the black screen, maybe even until the next stage appears. Sometime during the black screen is when the save file gets written to. Also remember that you can fast reset by Select + Run. As for Richter only, I think that should be done low%, which would be more of a variety then any%. So to do that, you do Stage 0, Stage 1 (alternate boss), Stage 2 (Oarsman Route), Stage 3' (alternate boss), Stage 4' (Normal Boss would likely be faster), Stage 5, Stage 6, Stage 7, Stage 8. Good luck. I REALLY want to see a TAS of this, being a fan of the game (and a speed runner of it too).

So is there a performance bottleneck with some mother boards?
Yes. Oftentimes the FSB (Front Side Bus) can be a factor. The L1 and L2 cache can be as well. Also, a processor with multiple cores but a slower speed will wipe the floor (more often then not) then a single core but faster GHz processor.

Well, the movie file is linked, so you can play it for yourself through Gens, if you want.

Doesn't the good ending basically consist of Richter saying "But he's ten times your age, Maria!" ?
10? Given that Maria is 17 and Alucard is at over 300 (more if you consider Legends to be canon), uh, yeah. He's old.

The only good thing about this movie were the finishing moves. Everything else got boring in a hurry. Voting no.

What is M3?
The M3 series is a series of flash carts for the Nintendo DS. It includes stuff like the M3 Perfect, M3 Professional (both slot-2), M3 DS Real, and coming out soon is the M3i Zero which works with the DSi.

I've finally watched it. I'll give it a yes, despite that the programmers were lazy and only programmed 3 pieces of music in the entire game. And I thought Squaresoft was lazy with FF1's battle theme...

The "nothing happens" is a placeholder if there's no .torrent file uploaded for one reason or another. But why publish this if you have no AVI/MP4/MKV for us to enjoy?

For chopping basically 2 SNES games into a GBA game, it actually remains surprisingly faithful to the original material. Yes, the physics are skewed, the sound and graphics are well, like 6bit, but the level design is fairly close, the boss weakness makes sense in comparison to the SNES games, and it well, could be enjoyable. Maybe. Good work. It was fun to watch. Yes vote.

When I was playing Bubble Bobble Plus on the Wii, I noticed there was an achievement list that was based upon getting special items, like candy, shoes, crosses, etc. And it gave a listing of how to get the stuff. Since it's based upon the original arcade game, I'm sure the same priniciples apply to the NES version. I don't have a listing and there's no FAQs on it, but if you can find out what it is, I'm sure it'll help.
