And I think the opposite - I think taking damage for faster overall completion was a total win. Though indeed I would like to see a no damage fastest IGT run, but this was fantastic in and of itself.
Yes vote from me.
I'm also excited for this run. Quick question (sorry if it's been answered): are you playing on easy, normal, or hard?
(I still can't beat this game on hard.... )
...this is a Contra game. The rule of Contra speed running is you play it on Hard.
First off, the intro stage still needs to be fixed. Plus the game doesn't start when it should.
Also, the game clearly desyncs at Grenade Man's miniboss. I know you shouldn't die there.
How can I start a game. I configure the joypad control but it have no effort. It seems that the controlinput don`t work from the emulator ?
I try it with an PC-joypad an the keyboard function too. But it`s ever the same problem. The emulator don`t detect any input.
The control plugin for 0.9 sucks. I couldn't get it to work either, though the one with 0.7 works just fine. I don't know why this is though, but I did report it on the Google Code page.
1. It supports non-DVD encoding - I've used it for compressing the DS encodes I've made.
2. It doesn't have to be for SDA. Putting the logo intro/ending is optional.
3. I think it is indeed x264, but it's another option and worth a try at least.

This is Contra Rebirth (WiiWare game) played on the Dolphin Emulator.
So it means that we can TAS some other good Wiiware games too like Mega Man 9 and World of Goo.
In that case, 2P Contra Rebirth on Hard needs to be done. :)
It's a Dega movie…
How does the MMV file format identify which console it was made for, if it's not always SMS? This was new information for me.

As for Game Gear ― I thought we were supposed to use … wait. Which emulator? I know nothing of this system. What's the screenshot resolution for it? Eh.
Well, looking at the MMV file in hex, it does list the ROM name within the file, starting at hex 64.
Real quick - did you have to hit start on player 2 to make the game continue to the level 20 screen? If so, could it stay on longer, to show the glitch?
I may be in the minority, but it happened so fast, I couldn't tell what happened, the first watch.
Looks like he hit Up/Down/Left/Right all at the same time to get around the glitch stopping the game, from what I saw with the key input display.
Here's an encode for you guys. Damn I love anri-chan. Makes life easy. Also, makes this game much easier to watch.

The viruses caught a cold and coughed and sneezed themselves away. Better the suffering a fever or a chill, right?
The ending made me go WTF, then watch it again. Totally awesome.

Mother 1 was for NES.
Mother 2 was SNES (aka Earthbound)
Mother 3 was for GBA.
This submission is right on time! The Mother series is being marathoned right now at TheSpeedGamers in the name of charity.
Or maybe here's an idea to help limit cheating - modify a console version of an emulator (like, say, FCEUGX for the Wii) to work with the achievement system. Granted how the achievements will be saved can still be copied over or whatever, but it's still a cool concept, I think.
I also can't find the spec for the dsm format. I wanted to test making trivial hex edits to the movie before I started doing serious work.
Hell, you don't even need a hex editor. It's viewable very nicely in just plain notepad. I've got most of it figured out from TASes already done/in progress.

R = Right

W = L button
E = R Button
T = Select
Not sure what the last one is. The lid button entry didn't appear in a test. Also not completely positive on how mouse entries are recorded, but it does have to deal with the 0s at the end. 000 000 have to deal with the coordinates (somehow) and the single 0 at the end will be 1 if the touchpad is being pressed.
As for the .savmovie, that's the movie's save file (unlike normal .sav, which is a general save file). .ds# files are the save states created by the emulator itself.
Basically, to restart where you were recording, you basically have to play the movie back and then restart the save state you were on. Don't know why you can't playback your movie though.
Honestly, I don't see the point of 100% items in any Castlevania game. 100% map coverage, I can understand though. Especially since Large Cavern is a pain in the rear.
