zggzdydp's N64 Akumajou Dracula Mokushiroku Gaiden If it actually syncs for everybody else but me, this should go back on the workbench. It's actually a very well played movie (coming from somebody who's done the same run on a console).

Good work. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you manage to balance your emotion meter for the rest of the game. :)

As many times as I played this on ePSXe, this game never froze or crash under the game nor the emulator. It's shocking that we don't have TAS features on that emulator.
Because ePSXe to my recollection is closed source.

No, they're using the (J) ROM, because I guess Peach is faster in there then the US one (which I don't think it's the case, but whatever).

Very interesting tricks. I especially liked the use of the giddy emotion combined with a high jump at the 2nd toad. Nice work. :)

Thanks! If anyone is interested, here's the 20 screenshots that were considered.

If it doesn't unlock the extra levels and doesn't count towards 100% in the scoring, then what's the point? Skip them.

Oh yeah, much better. I don't know how much you'll be able to use the cry emotion in later levels, but for there, it's a definite must.

One big improvement right from the get go - press start twice at the title screen to skip the float in animation. Also, I would suggest trying to balance the sad feeling in the run and use it more, because she runs really fast while sad. You do start with a full heath bar and there's several feeling refills in the level.

I'm using the US version, since that's what should be used. And yeah, that's an old one. Get the new one in the DS Emu forum (assuming your computer supports SSE2, which is why it crashes for most people).

Wow, I got an immediate desync. Didn't even get past the title screen. ^^;; Are you using the new DeSmuME emulator that just got compiled, or the one that has major desync issues that everybody has been told to not use?

Well, that explains it. Your processor is the problem - it doesn't support SSE2, so whenever you try to run a program that uses it, it crashes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2

Is this dead because of an emulator problem or still in progress?
Looking at the prior posts, it was stopped because of emulator problems, but since there's a v9 out now (v7 was the one out at the time it was worked on), it's worth checking to see if it works now, or if it's still dead in the water.

I agree that the villagers are a bunch of idiots who reward your grinding with underpowered items. I think they should be skipped in a TAS. Technically, the villagers could give you items earlier than you should have them. But since you usually have to replay a stage 3 times to get the right green chests to make them happy it's pointless.
Agreed. Saving the villagers is a must, but doing their dirty laundry is stupid and should be skipped.

Long story short, the only way it will be entertaining is through cheats.
I think the opposite. Knowing the usual limitations of this game, I think it'll be MORE entertaining to watch somebody work around or get past those.

I was a bit sarcastic about the loading times, but they're there (going in and out of the menu, especially). Depending on how you load the game on ePSXe you may not notice any since loading from an ISO is faster then from on the PS1 at 1-2x speed.

How's the conversion of the DS version? I'd hope it's better than the execrable Playstation one if it's going to get a serious run made for it.
You don't have the 2 minute long load times, which is great for a start. But everything I've seen and played of the DS version is just as good as the SNES version.

You're selected the wrong save type. Put it on auto or EEPROM 4Kbit (0.5KByte) for the game to work.

Is it better to be close because you can only have one ball onscreen at a time, and that's what determines your firing rate?
Yep! Just like everything else Mega Man shoots - the same rule applies with the Mega Ball.

Maybe you would lose time to get near to the boss, that kicking seemed pretty optimized already. other opinions?
Getting closer is faster. You can actually kill him up close before he shuts his lid.

I'm finally back at this, using 0.0.7 of the emulator. The times listed above are from the old v1 run, but I'm keeping them up for my reference only right now. All golden frogs will have to be collected, because apparently in order to get the ending, you need them. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVqLb6IFDZY - Human Play of Tropical Zone) Current Progress: 1. Zone 1 - Retro Zone (Truck) - 5 levels a. Level 1-1 - Retro Level 1 (CLEARED - 6s, 5s, 5s, 4s, 6s = 26s)
