I gave a try to Megaman ZX/Advent. ZX plays pretty much perfect and would be great for a run. Advent has major issues - sprites don't appear and the videos run like crap, so that's out for now. Appears that Children of Mana doesn't load now. Boo.

Note that you shouldn't rely on people having cookies enabled, either. You can enhance your site with cookies, but it should still be functional and look good without them.
Yeah, but it's only for people that want to have a particular style used every time they visit. There's always a default if cookies are disabled or it doesn't exist.

OH MY GOD IT'S FINALLY HERE! The DS is my favorite console since the SNES. They both have the same controller and a ton of really good 2D games. Sign me up! Serious question here. So unlike everyone else I know, I actually bought DS cartridges. Is there any way for me to easily dump them so I can get started? Obviously I could find roms if I wanted to. But I'm afraid that the roms floating around the Internet have the anti-piracy measures hacked out of them. And I don't want to TAS modded games. <- so excited! :D
No-Intro DAT matching ROMs are as pure as they can get.

Given how well that first mission looked, you should almost manage to be able to do both be fast and be perfect. ^^;;

Actually, there's suppose to be a default selected if you've never visited the site. Choosing one of the 6 options saves the choice into a cookie, so that particular style is used the next time you visit. I used Javascript there because that was the only way I could find at the time to make it work. Granted I could just use 1 CSS and be done, but I didn't want to do that - I wanted to throw in a few options. I guess the default doesn't work since it's part of the script code. I think I couldn't put it in the header normally with the script at the same time, because the header one overwrote the script command. I'll have to double check that again. I think I'm understanding how the PNG transparency fix works, but I'll have to play around with it a bit to see if I can. Edit: Got the transparency thing to work in IE6. I've only done it on the homepage, but it works. Kinda sucks that it takes a second for it to activate, but whatever it takes, I guess. So I guess if anybody has any suggestions on how to do the 6 style sheets thing w/o using Javascript, then I'm all ears. I've tried one possibility (the <noscript> code), which should default the standard script if Javascript is disabled. Only on the index page of both IMAMYTH Computers and IMAMYTH Colosseum. I'm gonna try installing Noscript myself and try it out. Edit 2: With NoScript on in Firefox, the default script loads - mostly. It screws up my PNGs though. Standard for NoScript? (Forget the last part, that was just a stupid error in my CSS file.) Script loads fine. Just need to add that to all of my pages.

I would like to see somebody find a way to dominate Etrian Odyssey and turn it from a really long game into something beaten very very quickly. :) (Same with the sequel). Also, Children of Mana. Game sucks, somebody needs to p0wn it already. :) Oo, also, Bubble Bobble Double Shot. Just to prove it's possible to beat 1P, because the 80s are a total bitch.

Looks fine to me (FF3 / OSX). What are you seeing that looks wrong? Here's some general feedback, though. * "Site best viewed in" content is unprofessional. It comes across as telling the user what browser to use, which nobody is going to appreciate. I'm sure many of us would be happier if more people used Firefox (or just something other than IE), but this isn't the way to do it. * Likewise, stating resolution requirements isn't so great either. You should design your website so it doesn't matter what resolution the viewer is using. That said, you should be safe assuming that everyone has at least a 1024x768 resolution display, since very few people are using smaller these days. Thus, if your minimum requirements are 1024x768, you don't need to say anything; it's like listing a mouse as a requirement for a modern videogame. Just remember that not all of that display is available for your web browser; pixels are chopped off of all sides by menu bars, window edges, docks/taskbars, etc. * I'd recommend including comments in your HTML noting which opening tag a given close tag corresponds to. This is mostly useful when you have a series of four "</div>" entries or the like. * Your sidebar (with "IMAMYTH Computers", "IMAMYTH Colosseum", etc.) honestly looks like a section of text advertising, especially with the ringtones on there (I don't think I've ever seen the word "ringtone" on a website outside of an advertising context). It might help if you had some kind of themed icons for each of the different subpages which you could put up with the sections, to make it clear they're legitimate parts of the website. This sidebar is also redundant with the header bar; they aren't both needed. * For your actual question, you might try putting another clear div after your main div.
1. Yeah, I'll remove that later. Though it does look bad in IE due to the logo issue (IE6 doesn't support transparent PNGs) which was the primary reason I stated that. 2. Actually, there's still a lot of people on 800x600 (which is the minimum XP uses, not 1024x768, FYI). And the page gets crunched on that resolution, but looks fine on 1024x768. It got really bad on widescreen monitors (or just high resolutions in general), which I'm finally figuring out how to fix, thanks to another CSS file I ran across. 3. Since I use the same type of style sheet throughout the site, it's used more on the other pages, especially on the Colosseum side (which has very LOOOOONG listing of links, which would never fit on the top menu), it was easier just to modify that. 4. Actually, those are my own made ringtones, which is probably the one reason why I leave the sidebar up - explanation, not doable by a simple link. My opinion though. 5. I'll try that. I put one before it which fixed it in IE6, but didn't in FF3 (XP SP3). As for what the problem what I was seeing, was that at a high resolution (I don't remember what the monitor was at, but this 22" widescreen monitor can go up to 1680 x 1050), the footer was sitting up off the bottom of the screen, showing the background color underneath it, which looks a bit ugly IMO. IE6 was fixed by the first div clear (man it looked REALLY hideous there before I did). I don't have a screenshot since I'm not at that computer right now. It looks fine on some other resolutions (like 1024x768 though, the screen resolution I'm on now).

I'm bumping this again because I'm looking for a little more assistance, since I've been playing around with it on a much higher resolution. http://www.imamyth.com/ I'm working on the CSS that directly affects this page, though the same general layout is used for all of them (but they're different CSS files). Surprisingly, Firefox is the problem. IE actually displays it how I want to (save for the lack of PNG transparency in IE6)! I want the footer to sit at the bottom of the page, no matter the resolution. IE 6 does it right, Firefox 3 isn't. Is this just a Firefox problem, or am I missing something?

I got it fixed. Basically, I just needed to throw around App.Path around more then I was using it. I guess going between two different locations (since backups are done on a different drive all together), I guess that was confusing the program. It all seems to work now. w00t! That big headache is over. Now to rest until the next one... ^^;;

Actually, the start command (uses to launch XLS) is not used with backups. I just use filecopy commands for that. The issue is that the weekly backup function causes everything else BATCH related to break. I have one idea I ran across while comparing my Beta (where it never broke) and my v1.0.1 (where it's always breaking). For the file listing on the local drive, I don't throw in an App.Path command, which could be the issue. That's really the only difference between my Beta and my v1.0.1.

Well, I tried the quick fix by modifying how the BATCH file loads, by including the directory path to load the XLS file, but that didn't work - there's some issue with the program itself, I guess, since it just skipped it (today was the usual weekly backup time frame, so I got to test a possible fix today), just as it had the past two weeks. I'll dig a bit into the code itself now that I have another week, but I still don't quite get why one computer works right and another doesn't, but I'll keep hammering away at this. Eventually I should get to VB.net, but I just don't have time right now to do a quick convert, though I won't close the option completely.

I've heard about VB.net, but I didn't (and still don't) have a copy of it. I'm also more familiar with VB6, but I would be willing to do a conversion if it doesn't take up too much time, but I'm more looking for a quick fix so I'm not having to go through some complicated mechanism every week. That's something I should look into for a long term fix.

VB6 and BATCH files. Two of your problems right there :p do you make sure that the current directory is set correctly before launching the batch file? you can also try to add a PAUSE command to the end of your batch file to keep the window open, allowing you to see the error messages.
You know, the directory thing could be the issue, given that it only happens on Weekly Backup days, which means the VB6 program jumps between two different drives. Though it still seems odd that it doesn't occur on all computers. That's something I could easily fix by changing how VB6 writes the BATCH file (print #1, "start " App.Path + "\pmr.xls") Thanks for the idea. I'll try that method when I get back home to my computer. Yes, I'm aware VB6 + BATCH files suck, but I'm not a C++ coder or anything like that. I use what I know and plus the simpler interface style of VB6 makes it easier for the people using the program, since some of them aren't very computer literate.

I've developed a program in VB6 that uses BATCH files to do stuff like launch Excel files, do 7z compression, etc. But I've run into an odd problem, that maybe somebody can help me shed some light on. For some odd reason, despite that the same program is running on 3 different computers (all using XP), one computer works perfectly fine, one occassionally has an issue, and the 3rd breaks every time at the same point (when I do a weekly file backup function, but every other day works fine). What happens is that at one point in the program, whenever a BATCH file is suppose to be launched, either it doesn't appear (in the case of the 7z command), or it will flash the DOS box and not do anything at all. It's a serious problem, because when it's trying to do the 7z command, it causes a preprogrammed error message to appear, though oddly we've actually gone well past when that message shouldn't be applying anymore (since the file does exist, and the on error command has been changed TWICE). The kicker? You can actually go into Explorer and manually run the BATCH file itself. I'm not sure what's causing this and it's driving me nuts. What would cause a VB6 program (on XP) to misbehave like this...and on top of that only on certain computers? I know this is a stretch to ask for (expecially w/o providing code), but I'm just looking for general ideas.

Damn, GWBasic. It's been too long... I used to program in it a lot, but it's been years, so I'm probably very rusty.
