Even if this run was rejected, if somebody else posted a run that was say, 5 seconds slower but looked cleaner, we could simply point out this run and say "YOU CAN DO FASTER" and reject the run as well.
Personally, I would rather see a run using Henry over anybody else, but I will watch this later, because unlike most CV players, I actually DO like the game.
There's a restaurant I ate at in NYC called "Cafe de Leon" in Brooklyn. 142 W 49th Street, just about a block off of Broadway. It's great if you like a small shop. Good pizza and pasta.
I'd recommend musicals to watch, but every single one is gone off of Broadway (all 7 of them!). Go to the Statue of Liberty at least anyways. You'll have a much better view then when I went (which was in January - and very snowy).
Don't melt in the heat wave too, BTW. Make sure you're well hydrated. They've been running in the triple digits lately.
Now that I've actually watched this, I can comment.
I have to agree in a sense with CrazyTerabyte's post. I like that the game tries to follow the "intended route" instead of always just climbing to the roof and flying though. It gives more of a sense of "we could do it if we tried hard enough" feel to it.
However, while we have done pacifist Contra, "coinless-capless-cannonless" SM64 didn't make it though the ringer.
Some of the things in this video were quite interesting in order to skip rings (Scrap Brain 1 especially) but I'm a bit unsure still on whether it should be published.
But, considering that this goal is likely impossible to do via normal game play (which seems to be the reason why CCC SM64 was rejected), I guess it probably is worthy.
While "CCC" may be a common unassisted playing goal, it fails to be an impressive TAS goal. If anything, because the goal itself is doable unassisted. "Extra" (runs other than any%, low%, 100%, or perhaps pacifist?) of games tend to have goals that would be thought impossible or at least impossible by human standards to achieve. Such as SMW's small only run, Metroid's no mini-boss run, or Nightmare on Elm Street's 4 player run.
Yeah, but stage select code allows you to do special stage, avoiding that conundrum.
VG - Is there some obscure way of doing this? I tried enabling the code, collecting the emerald, Reset 68000, re-enabling the code and selecting special level... but it only took me back to the first special level. :(
It's probably as stated below your post. I remember it working on the real system. Sonic 2 also can be done that way as well.
Congrats to Detroit for winning. Again.
I'm hoping that the Wild fine tune things next year, cause they had a great 07-08 season. Here's to hoping the cup comes to MN next year.
Yeah, but stage select code allows you to do special stage, avoiding that conundrum. But not if soft resets aren't supported. And technically, I meant 6. I forgot that Sonic 1 only had 6 emeralds. The 7th was added to avoid the complaint gamers would have later "WHY CAN'T I BE SUPER SONIC IN SONIC 1 IT WOULD BE SO COOOOOL!"
Too bad.
Questions:
1: Could you have gotten into the pipe at the end of the last level of Space Zone any faster?
2: Macro Zone 1: Were the weird waits necessary for the platforms? No way to get though faster?
3: Turtle Zone 2: Was the wall glitch (and assumably 2 hits you took in order to do it) necessary? If so, why and how much time did you save?
Before I vote, mike89, I would like an explanation on why you decided to collect rings during the credits. Clearly breaking your goals.
On a more serious note, that was fucking awesome! Good work, mike!
Yes
Your next mission, if you choose to accept it, is a no rings, all emeralds run. GO!
;-)
I don't care to sit though 7 resets just so they can use the stage select code to do the special stage over and over again. Besides, can Gens here record soft resets?
Doesn't this game support tilting the GBA? So, how did you implement it in VBA, by patching the ROM or with a plug-in?
Generally, it's patched to use the L+R buttons. I assume it's done the same.
As for my thoughts, this doesn't make a very good game choice IMO. I'm voting no on that factor. I believe somebody had done a Warioware game before and that was rejected for the exact same reason (I think they did the first Warioware game).
Edit: Found it.

Truncated: Rejected because of poor feedback, and I can understand why. A human player could have done just as well as this. And all the events are timed, so there is no way to speed anything up.
I haven't seen pictures of my doppleganger, but apparently he likes gaming. He worked for Squaresoft on Final Fantasy VII (can't remember what) and Parasite Eve (CG Movie & Map Animators)
Not sure if the same guy was responsible for work on Stargate (the movie) and Night Club.
Looks like according to IMDB, he is.

I also work for DreamWorks Animation now. :P

Well, Manticore is the body of a lion with wings and a human face. Hippogryph is a griffin with hooves. There is enough of a difference.
Or are dogs and cats essentially the same?
I also thought the video desynced, it was so freakishly bizarre.
Then all I could say is WTF?!
I don't completely get the glitches and why all the sleep mode movements are needed, but I can still say YES to this run, and also demand a major glitchless version.
