Speaking of GameFAQs, someone brought this to my attention: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=563433&topic=21941838&page=2 This guy got a sub-30 while trying to beat the TAS, which he thinks is the WR. GJ GameFAQs.

Alright, with no WS in L5, I lose an average of 40s, with my fastest time losing 30s. 12s gained from up+A after getting WS. That makes it at least 18 seconds slower from my POV. There’s also a survival issue there. Edit: I forgot the difference in the L2 path. It would be at least 10 seconds slower, not 18. You would still die a lot in L5 though.

Yes, I’m working on a faster run right now. I sent the 32:56 run in right away because I’d be punching myself if it were accidentally erased/lost/destroyed. I read on SDA, and it just says that it’s a gambling route for 33 minutes. Whatever it was, I can tell you right now that it’s slower than the new one I posted. You can give me any route, aside from the TAS, and I will tell you why it’s slower, and where the time is lost. You can imagine how much testing was done to arrive at this route, TAS-wise and Speedrun-wise. Btw, congratulations on your sub 1:40 LttP. You just finished MM and you set another record so soon.

Edit: Btw, Sleepz, when are you gonna be sending in this vid?
This video, I'm not, but the one I'm currently working on probably. I made some final changes to my routine and trying to push it into the 32:45~32:30 range. The best run I could possibly hope for would be just under 32:30. Regarding the time, Mr.Kelly has already verified it to 32:56, and now just waiting on the other 2 judges. When timing it live, it was 32:51, but the recording playback makes it 32:56.

That means there is at least 58 seconds to improve. Coupled with the fact I believe with enough attempts and skill, people can beat this game very skillfully without getting damaged much and very exceptional use of bombs. I think at least a minute can be shaved off your time. But then it is slower for the White Sword verus Magical. So perhaps it's only 20 or so...who knows...with less damage done per attack.
This would be more like a minute slower, not faster. Well maybe not a whole minute, but at least 30 seconds slower guaranteed.

http://members.shaw.ca/richu/PS4.zip Juza's dead this time, and it ends when Alys dies(spoilers). At Ladea Tower, Rune's theme replaces the funky Ladea tower beat. I kind of wanted to get into a fight to change it back. Demi was a lifesaver at the Gy battle. Without luck manipulation, it would've been over in like 2 turns. Sandworms and Zio up next.

Really? I was planning out a sub-11 run without the shortcut and pushed it aside for LoZ. Did he mention what time he got in SMB3? If someone gets like under 11:20, I’ll do a new run.

Well, it’s sub-33. I’m pretty sure no one has ever gotten that close before, so I’m guessing it’ll be insanely tough to beat. Sub-32? No one will ever get that. Probably not even < 32:20. As for the TAS route, it’s still the fastest by far. The MS and HC’s just ruin things, but are necessary for a human player. (L2>Whistle to L1>Arrows>L6) vs (L7>Whistle to L1>Arrows>MS>L6) vs (L7>Lost Woods>MS>L6)

Probably faster. But it would be faster still to do Topman before Shadowman.

I know a way to get into the walls, only got it working in Snakeman's stage though. When you get to the giant snake, stand on the last segment of it and wait for the 2nd last segment to move higher. Then, slide to the left. When Megaman goes into his sliding animation, his arm will be inside the wall, which is enough to glitch him right through the snake. What's interesting is that in MM3, MM gets pushed upwards as well as to the side when he is in a wall. Something you can play around with I guess. It's easy enough for a human to do as well. Whoever is doing the next MM3 improvement should add that in.

AngerFist, this is the speedrun section, the route I posted is the fastest HUMAN route, and in the other post I mentioned I was speedrunning the game. The new TAS idea didn’t work out. Michael, yes, it’s a new WR. There’s also a slight chance that it might not be beaten.

Sleepz, in that route you posted, why are you getting the arrows and bait just before level 7? You have to walk an extra 6 screens for that. Why not just get the bait before level 2, then get 100 rupees before level 7, then whistle to level 1, and get the arrows on the way to level 6?
You have to stop counting screens. You need to time the actual walkthroughs to see which one is faster: + (L7>Whistle to L1>Arrows>MS>L6) - (L7>Lost Woods>MS>L6) + (HC>100 rupees>HC>Meat>L2) - (HC>100 rupees>HC>L2) + 100 rupee near L7 detour - (Whistle to L3>Arrows>Meat>L7) - (Whistle to L3>L7) You’re losing time in 3 different places, and gaining time in only one. Just the path change from L7 to L6 alone puts you 35 seconds behind.

I noticed one thing in the cave. Why did you let Hahn miss with his blade? :P
Was it Hahn or Chaz? I let Chaz miss on the last fight so the slug gets the chance to kill Hahn. In Zio's Fort, the LSword is very off course, so I only get the claw. I already picked up a decent sword for Chaz in Bio-plant. I will try to get all the good stuff in the dungeons instead of buying them.

http://members.shaw.ca/richu/PS4.zip I had to make some major changes with leveling because Juza kept killing me. There are twice as many Newt fights now and then Meta Slug fights in the passageway. I also let the other characters die so the exp goes to Chaz and Rika. Then, had to redo a second time because I remembered buying a telepipe would save the long walk back to Zema. Just note, it desyncs during the fight with Juza and he wins. This is the first time my own recording desync on me during playback. Anyone figure out what’s causing this?

I'm using Gens test 9c, 3 buttons, rom: Phantasy Star - The End of the Millenium (U) [!].bin . Don't know what else might cause desync. Replaying from a savestate does work as long as you have read-only checked. If unchecked, then the movie re-records from the savestate instead, which is how my work got erased last time.

http://members.shaw.ca/richu/ps4.zip I erased about 2 hours work and now back in Tonoe. My plan for leveling is groups of 4 newts before Tonoe, so Chaz has tsu and Hahn has wat, and then sandworms after getting Rune again in Ladea Tower. If you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know. I'll start setting up savestates from now on so you guys don't have to watch from the start over and over again.

Luck can be manipulated by holding or pressing buttons between character actions. You can have characters dodge attacks or choose which characters will be attacked. For leveling, I think it will be necessary for boss fights, at least to get the skills, Crosscut, etc, and made easier by deathables. Not sure it will work on Sandworms though. I think Sandworms were the best exp until Vahal Fort, and they can be fought at any point in the game. They're a bitch to kill though.

Fastest Human Route: 1.Sword 2.L3 3.up+A 4.Gamble x1 5.Blue Candle 6.L4 7.HC 8.L1 9.White Sword 10.L5 11.up+A 12.HC 13.100 rupees 14.HC 15.L2 16.Whistle to 3 17.Arrows 18.Meat 19.L7 20.Magic Sword 21.L6 22.Whistle to 2 23.L8 24.Whistle to 1 25.L9 60 before candle, 140 before arrows. Might even be faster than the TAS route with HCs and MS added.

Well that's the thing. PS4 has lots of actual cutscences, and they can't be skipped, so you have to watch them anyways. There's no sequence breaking in this game that I know of. By going as fast as possible, the dialogue goes by too fast to read. Have a look at the WIPs and you'll see what I mean.

I'm just thinking about the majority of people who have never played or heard of this game. Anyone who's played this has most likely been over everything and made it to the end already, so they'd want to speed through the script. For someone new to PS4, they would probably want to catch the story as well as the gameplay. My idea was to make something a little more interactive, not just a plain fast walkthrough. I really don't like doing those. If a video is made, then people could just skip over the cutscenes if they wanted to.

You should make a Triceratops/Tyrannosaur/Brachiosaur/Anklyosaur hybrid. That thing was scary tough.

I thought this might be a kinda neat idea. My first try at an RPG is PS4. For those who remember this awesome game, you know that the dialogue and cutscenes play a very important part, and most are unskippable. What I’m trying to do is, instead of just skipping through the dialogue as fast as possible, is to progress the dialogue at an actual conversation pace. I realize it will add a few minutes to the total time, but I’d find it much less entertaining if all the dialogue was skipped over, especially since its an RPG. This way it would be like watching an animated movie and reading the subtitles, and you can actually follow along with the story. The fighting and walking around will still be done at full speed of course. Here’s a WIP: http://members.shaw.ca/richu/PS4WIP.zip There are 3 files in here. Each one is the beginning dialogue, but at different speeds: Fastest speed, Regular speed, and the 3rd most closely resembles regular talking, which I’m trying to go for(I will still fix this a bit). At least watch the 1st and 3rd one, and tell me which one you’d prefer to watch and what you think of the idea. I don’t want to do a whole game just to find out that everyone preferred something else.

If its absolutely perfect, LoZ. I'd like to see how fast it really is. Other than that, maybe F-Zero for GC or Sonic for DC/GC. I'd have to think of the arcade games too.
