My fault, Bisqwit. Guess I did get a little sidetracked.

Bisqwit, I tried the XviD but it still doesn't work. Thanks anyway. If anyone figures this out, please help out. Thanks again.

Good points you make, Josh, but consider this: the fact that the Industrial Zone level is cut out would make the run that much faster. True that I didn't even think about the arcade version, and yes, that would be much more entertaining. Looking forward to it. P.S. Haggar & Cody would be an excellent team. Haggar with the Piledriver as that does massive damage & Cody with the infinite punches. Guy is just too weak to get the job done. Playing with him seems to me to be more of a challenge if you've already beat the game with Cody & Haggar.

This question has nothing to do with the run itself. I was wondering if anyone else had trouble viewing the avi for this one. I usually use Media Player (along with the Divx codec) to view all files from here, but for some reason it says codec error. I check previous avi's & they all still work fine. Anyone else run into this?

Actually, I think taking a bit of damage in key places in the run would save you quite a bit more time than 5 seconds. Mainly waiting for the spikes, although I do recognize you take massive damage from them. But would it really matter if those are the only places you chose to take damage? Food for thought.

Anyone thought of a time attack on this one? You could use the "infinite punches" to smoke through this one pretty quick.

I actually liked this game alright, but sadly, it would make a boring time attack. There's no real way to avoid anything. Bleh.

AxeMan, your speed run is very impressive and well received. Just the other day I was wondering why this game hadn't been speedran yet. I especially like the vertical flips up the wall-wow! Didn't even know that was possible. There were 2 things I noticed that I wanted to bring to your attention. First, there seemed to be so many times where you could've shaved off time had you just taken damage. While it does look smooth finishing the game without a scratch, I'd say the primary goal in a speedrun is to finish as quickly as possible. Things like no damage would be secondary IMHO. Also, around 8:15, it started out walking and it made you slip a little on the ice, therefore slowing you down. Would it be faster to do a quick hop in order to avoid sliding or would that throw the timing off altogether? Just some ideas if you plan on doing a version 2.

No WalkerBoh, I didn't think you were being rude it all. It just seemed as though all of us (myself included) were pointing out alternate ways to do things and I saw an oppotunity to use a quote from the game, that's all. Looking forward to version 2.

Don't have negative thoughts, Walker Boh. Remember your mantra. ;-) This is a tough game to speed through considering all factors. The speedrun is impressive, and I think I speak for all of us when I say we're looking forward to version 2.

If you do a second version, try it. It works, I promise. I've been successful in doing it several times. Keep up the good work; very entertaining stuff.

I love Faxanadu and I agree with the author of the recently released speedrun that it is highly underestimated. Being extremely familiar with it, let me point out this small time-saver that was absent from said video. In Conflate, there's a screen where you can go right or left that contains 2 of those slug-like monsters that give you bread when you kill them and a bottle of poison on the right-hand side. It may seem hard, but you can jump over this bottle without being damaged. Wouldn't save you much time, but every millisecond you can shave off is worth it, I guess.
