Why do the Celeste and F-Zero GX runs not on TASVideos yet? In F-Zero GX's case, I'm assuming it's because only a few levels were made, but the Celeste runs were clearly complete, so I'm quite confused there.

Does anyone have complete maps of how the dungeons are generated? Note that this information is missing from Nintendo's official Player's Guide published back then; they only gave examples of generated maps, not all possible combinations.

I don't know if that's technically possible, but since it's possible to access the Arena of the Ages before the first fight by saving and quitting, there's potential for a garbage stats run in this game that doesn't appear possible on the SNES version. I think such a run would be very entertaining. To clarify, I'm thinking of something like the following: . The Workman's Wallet must be equipped during all fights to prevent XP gain. This means acquiring it early. - All characters must have the worst possible equipment when fighting. For Crono, that means acquiring the Mop early. This probably requires multiple copies of the Workman's Wallet too. - When given the choice of a party composition, the one with the worst level sum must be used. This includes rejecting Frog's help in the Cathedral and preventing Crono's death. - Using tabs is banned.

It seems the huge majority of the challenge in this run from a TAS perspective is to figure out the order in which to pick up and drop objects, not to actually execute it. The length of the run doesn't help the simplicity of the game, but at least there's a little bit of variety in the platforming showcased. Overall, I still have to vote no as I wouldn't have watched the whole thing under normal circumstances, but I'm glad this record exists, and I'd be curious to see records for other game modes and for score attack.

Not sure if this is the right place to report this, but the Uzebox is not listed as a supported platform on the main Bizhawk documentation page.

Voting no. The run is trivial to accomplish, and the attempt for entertainment becomes repetitive very quickly.

Didn't realize this run was un-cancelled with a new version of the movie that fixed most of my criticisms. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to a 100% run!

I just did a 100% completion of the e-Reader levels on my Wii U this weekend, so my memory of the game is still fresh... and it made me notice a lot of wrong going on in this submission. First, the game version picked makes no sense. Not all the 3-e cards were released in the US, and yet the original US version was picked. so level names for the Japaneses-exclusive level cards are corrupted. As others stated, the Wii U version should have been used instead. Next, the dirty SRAM. Forget the fact that it skips the formatting screen, which causes the final time to be artificially shorter, or that it was unnecessary altogether. The real issue is that it has all the levels already completed by Mario and all the Star levels with 100% completion, with the exception of a missing promotional level. That alone would be a valid rejection reason in my opinion. Now, the actual goal of this submission appears to be completing the World-e Mushroom levels with Mario, which is arbitrary in my opinion. Why only play 30 of the 38 levels? The goal choice probably didn't help the entertainment value either, as skipping the collectibles also skips most challenges of many levels. Speaking of entertainment, not much is being done to make the numerous autoscrollers interesting to watch aside from wall clips and collecting 1-ups. I can't vote more than Meh for these reasons, despite how badly I love those levels. That said, kudos for the attempt. I'm definitively seeing the potential, and gonna look forward a more polished and complete TAS of this game mode in the future.

Am I to understand you didn't attempt to resolve the issue Nach brought up in his judgment of your previous Othello submission?

So if I understand correctly, a hack of Crayon Shin-Chan 4 just got published to Vault even though the rules for Vault clearly states that hacks are not eligible. Was this a mistake or am I missing something here?

Almost missed this amazing submission due to it being lost in the middle of the April Fools submissions. Congratulations pirohiko!

It feels wrong to me that a 100% run of this game would not include any of the 38 World-e levels, especially when considering that they were included in the Wii U Virtual Console port. Will refrain from voting because of this issue.

That's exactly what goes on today, see the links I put in my first post in this thread.
I fail to see how that answers my question. What I was wondering about is whether the alleged reporter is a bot (such as the one described in one of your links) or a human (as the error message suggests) in this very specific case.

Very cool, voting yes! By the way, I would personally prefer seeing different branches instead of a continuous movie. The second part looks like you're losing lives for a quick game over, which confused the hell outta me until I realized the counter was not representing lives.

Maybe the submission warning should be more clear? A lot of newbies tend to submit sub-optimal movies. Also, this is probably irrelevant at this point, but the game version listed in the submission doesn't seem to make sense. It claims to be v1.1, but as far as I know Team Megamix never released such a version as it's not listed on their website.

As the rest of the web is transitioning to an HTTPS-only world, I'm surprised TASVideos still doesn't properly support HTTPS. HTTPS has a bunch of advantages, including: - Preventing man-in-the-middle attacks, including password/session theft and ad/spyware/cryptominer injection - Allowing HTTP/2, which uses less bandwidth overall despite the security overhead thanks to Brotli compression - Granting access to users blocking all HTTP traffic for security and privacy reasons - Better rankings in search engines - No annoying browser warnings - It's free! I highly recommend TASVideos to implement HTTPS with HSTS as soon as possible.

From the point of view of someone not familiar with this game, all I'm seeing is the protagonist opening a gate, going down two ladders and throwing a spear. Hardly entertaining. I'd be curious to see a run on the hardest difficulty though.

This is a really cool glitch and so simple to set up too! I'm glad it got submitted just so that I got to see it. :) As for publication, I think it boils down to whether "fastest input" and "fastest completion time" mean the same thing for TASVideos for its Vault eligibility. In my opinion, I don't think they should.

I'm sorry, but for me this movie is incomplete. The challenge of Game & Watch games is to do a high score, not complete a 20 points objective. This movie doesn't reach the max score of 999, nor even reach the 300 points bonus. It just stops when the difficulty barely starts to ramp up. This game deserves a better tribute in my opinion.

For those unfamiliar with Mahjong, it plays just like a card game, and in fact it has the same ancestor as Rummy. Basically, the goal is to complete specific combinations of melds in your hand, and rarer combinations are usually worth more points. The main difference with using tiles instead of cards is that discarded tiles don't need to be stacked up in a pile to fit on the table and can be tracked more easily. Therefore, this game would fall in the board game category on TASVideos along with its additional publication restrictions, and considering the nature of the game, a TAS would basically end up manipulating the RNG to have winning opening hands, which isn't very entertaining to watch. Maybe a perfect score TAS would receive sufficient support for publication, but that would need to be verified.

I don't mean the classic ones where you have a formation of tiles and match them two at a time
Mahjong solitaire was invented as a computer game and released in 1981. Hardly classic compared to real Mahjong's rich history over multiple centuries.

What do you mean, originally a PC game? The PC version has the extra/expanded levels from the Sega CD and 32X versions and is usually considered to be the best version of this game!

I've done a quick check and found that depending on the point in which Toki Tori is when A button is pressed when close to an edge, the jump lenght is different, while the jump duration is still the same. So with frame-perfect inputs, the overall travel speed can be optimized.
I didn't realize that. Still, it doesn't LOOK superhuman, which is a major entertainment factor to me.

Spinning more prevents dizziness on the GBC version? That's super weird... but in that case, I would think a 180 degrees would be sufficient and more optimal to overflow the counter, considering you are bubbling immediately afterwards. Is there something else I'm missing?
