Well I'm putting the controller down for 100%ing this now, but when I figure out something I'll let you know about it. On a side note, I recon that there should be 4 parts to Crash Bandicoot or 6 (6 for doing 100% but getting different endings) Deathless - any%/100% (Only done by JPN) Deathabuse - any%/100% (PAL/NTSC)

No, I didn't mean jump shots in comparison to just jumps. I meant jump shots in comparison to normal walking shots. Means: when you want to shoot a creep maybe it's 1 frame faster to do so while jumping at same time. But as I said I might be wrong.
Oh I got you now (by now I meant when you put this in I was busy tassing Klonoa during that time and kept deleting files every-time I failed) when you go down a slope (Vision 1-1) with the enemy at the top grabbing is faster than jumping it. Link to video 8 goes later I came with a new one to show started again from scratch. I might have to fix something in Vision 2-2 I cannot tell but it looks optimized right now (Vision 1 was done with 0 mistakes and the fastest boss battle so far over all my comparisons). I also found out sliding is slower when going to a door it's best to frame precise that door.

Wow, what? This shouldn't be possible on my archive channel I got 2 livestreams of AGDQ on there SMBBlind and SPOBlind. Unless that's a completely different thing, then it would be because of the original owners of the livestream if it's him then what?! It should not be possible unless there is copyright music involved which usually makes YouTube go hang on this is not meant to be there. That's my best analysis on this.

Because I must restart Crash2 from a beginning, I make deferment, but do it by all means sometime soon if there is time.
Oh okay I understand. Also don't forget Hog Wild in the Japanese version has the Green gem not The Lost City. Also Slippery Climb and Sunset Vista are swapped in the Japanese version so you can break a harder level first then break another at a later time :D Piohiko I just thought of something Link to video Since you got the speed in N. Sanity Beach during the whole time going pass the box bridge like this shouldn't be an issue when jumping on the side as it is shorter than going left.

"Oh hello hello" Okay me and my friend Crash41596 obviously him telling me later after me finding it found this: Link to video I can safely write down that it is NTSC with a specific jump which PAL can get and NTSC cannot so this is the TAS you have to beat (oh damn that's me too) it was never sent to tasvideos!

There is this graphics plugin for PCSX2 it's really good it's called "Cutie" i don't know if i'm allowed to link it so I'm just going to avoid doing that unless aloud to :/ Cutie would be good to use as it prevents lag with the PS2 emulator better than the PCSX2 Graphics

Nope your not optimized enough you missed a box where the level can be 100% If i need to be specific at the whereabouts it's on the box bridge. How you make me start again... I have 10k on rerecords feels like a waste now

Welcome to TASvideos Anch. The problem with SHUMP TASes is that the games have to be rather insane or glitchy to make interesting TASes since it's difficult to compete for pure speed. Other ideas could be to never kill the smaller enemies unless required and just circle them, and other kinds of shenanigans. You can upload your WIPs here for us to look at: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php and I am sure someone who knows more about this game or SHMUPs in general will give you feedback.

I'm aware that it's more difficult in a casual speedrun, and of course it'd be easier in a TAS. Only thing that would bother me is, you don't get the dash ability until you defeat Cortex, so that's a lot of repetitive skidding, and that'd get old quick, considering theres like 30 levels. (still have to do them all, whether its any% or 100%)
Just like Crash Bandicoot: Warped...

I've done my fair share of work with WoC, and I got some interesting results. I noticed that sliding/skidding was indeed the fastest method of travel until the "dash" ability is unlocked, but an interesting trick is to Skid at the first possible frame you can skid again after a skid! May sound silly, but it is indeed the fastest way to travel. It's been far too long since I've played Twinsanity, and I remember little to no glitches in the game. Spikestuff, what kind of glitches do you know in the game? Sequence breaking glitches?
The keep on sliding technique is quite annoying in RTA obviously tas it's simple I cannot remember many only 1 where you can skip from N. Sanity Beach to Outside of N.gin's boat but I cannot find the video :(

I just thought of something while I was tassing the 100% of this trying to get the fastest (I'm on island 2 having a "blast") How's about this Crash Bandicoot "Deathless" tas this would only work with the Japanese version the best as when it does box counter there is only 1 box that hits Crash's head when you have something like 29 boxes missed it just goes bang 1, also pointing out when you die at checkpoint it still hits you on the head in the Japanese version making it a good candidate for a deathless tas. I need an answer I have 2 aku masks ready for Sunset Vista BUT I need to do boulder dash first if I make it all the way to the end I miss 18 boxes is it worth the time waiting for 18 boxes hitting on Crash's head for invisibly at Sunset Vista?

I disagree to record a ps2 emulator the "F12" button does the recording with lag obviously but it won't in final playback. Yes there isn't a fully functional way but I was talking about the recording part of it. Now back to Crash and Spyro for Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex slide jumps are the fastest mode of movement compared to slide-spinning (which doesn't work) Twinsanity you can break the game to finish it quickly :D

Underwater. Spinning is a little bit slower. During the 36 frames that cost a spinning you travel a distance of 93, when pressing A every 12 frames travels a distance of 99. Spinning must be avoided except to kill ennemies or end a level due to its fastest acceleration.
What? isn't the laws of Crash Bandicoot spinning and swimming together are the fastest combined strategy for swimming? (I have to bring up a video from one of my old WIP on Crash HA 100%) if I remember right the speed is 2-2-3-3-3-4-4-3-4 and then -2 for going left it's mentioned earlier in this forum that using the Crash 3 strategies on water levels are faster for this game Video doesn't do time I want to show at... Ok now I can talk about the majority of the issues in this TAS. Link to video This video will help prove my statement as it is the same for iiro's tas all the way through. Now besides leaving the Green Gem without getting it early1 Iiro2 doesn't use much velocity in his tas he only uses glitches to save time! Mukki, myself and Turbofa did (the one published, one still in progress but only started and one canceled due to forgetting to get the green gem. I should drop the mentioning of green gem talk now and go on with this run. Now bringing up Mukki's tas from the ground (not grave noone is attempting to beat it yet) speed is very important, I'll get to it in a bit. The only way you are faster than Turbofa is with little glitches and only by 1 min & 34 secs You can go faster than that in all honesty if you didn't screw around at the perfect screen if you didn't waste time walking rather than spinning across the ground when velocity goes down you jump (I need to restart mine on the topic of that part) You could have been faster than Turbofa by a good 3/4 minutes if you didn't do the simple lazy things, and I'm not going to stop on the Lazy Things I just mentioned you also should have clearly used more save states I mean seriously Great Gate if you used saves you could have bypassed waiting for the spikes going back down that seriously slew you down (For Mukki he used some interesting techniques to bypass this in his any% tas well besides death), in Upstream you wasted an extra 30-40 frames trying to kill Crash when all you needed to do was jump from a specific position to the checkpoint spin then fall (glitch)/drown in the level before passing the Checkpoint. I'll come back to this and talk about lua scripts and speed now. You need the lua script as made by Pirohiko which isn't hard to make all you need it Notepad++ and the Lua script created by Pirohiko, when you create the lua script and look at it there is a part where it says Velocity make sure your Velocity is always high and not low numbers.
Mukki wrote:
Movement: Crash's fastest movement speed is with the third mask (velocity = 12), however due to the death requirements it can harldly be used. The next down is spinning (velocity = 10), rather than walking (velocity = 9). However, when crash stops spinning his velocity drops to 7 for two input frames before returning to 9. This makes spinning ultimately slower. If, however, Crash jumps two frames before his velocity drops to 7 it will go straight to 9 instead. This saves a frame every time it is used.
iiro2 wrote:
In levels, where I couldn't get a gem immediately, I skipped the missed boxes screen by dying near a checkpoint.
Absolute lie we need to watch mukki's run again do we? What you did in "Road to Nowhere" Seriously made me upset and a tad angry who knows maybe it's faster killing Crash rather than waiting for 11 boxes to hit your head (even though Mukki does this in his tas he used a large margin of velocity in it but the any% speed runner Samura1man of the any% RTA does do this to save time the method needs to be changed for 100% compared to any%. "Sunset Vista" one of the hardest levels in this game I didn't see anything entertain compared to Mukki and Turbofa. "Heavy Machinery" one of my favorite levels I just waited for more like this interesting glitch which would have made people go what just happen to the game (The glitch is at the 3rd Tawna token you can make an interesting jump down the stairs the camera gets lost!) but then again it might be a hard glitch to tas correctly. "Castle Machinery" THIS IS THE LEVEL YOU STARTED BEATING TURBOFA! I am no joking here Turbofa uses less glitches in this level you're lucky to be able to beat him by such a small amount of time. Before heading to a boss you could have wasted you Aku masks as when you enter a boss fight you get the masks back. In some levels you could have entertained us while waiting like this video I did a while back without any tassing, But the one thing I'll keep coming back to is what you did wrong in "Jungle Rollers" (Don't worry I'm not going to mention the green gem this time). At the very start of this level you didn't grab invisibility correctly there is this part that sticks out on the level (Very start first aku box) that you could have just wedged Crash's body in there. I'm going to prevent commenting about anymore of this run.
