I have Pokémon Green. It's a Japanese one, so it's actually a real game (unlike those bootleg ones which were released in non-Japan places). I also have one of those "x in 1" GB games which has the bootleg Pokémon Green on it, as well as many other terrible games.

If that's the case, I'll bomb(chu) hover into it.

You need the Light Arrow to damage him, though.

That was great. Good job. I think you should take a look at several other places to see if you can skip more things. I'd rather you found them now, before I start working on my run again. ;)

Here it is... the moment you've all been waiting for... the first (and last) OoT any% RBA WIP! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3OWFKS6V Played by AKA, Bloobiebla and myself, the run has already gone through many revisions. At different times, only certain people were working on it, but collectively, we've all worked just as hard on it, so we decided that all our names should go on the final product. The reason we were "suboptimal" in Lake Hylia is because we have to wait until dawn for the drawbridge to be down so we can go to the Market. We talked to the owl on the optimal frame so that we landed outside the Market right at the crack of dawn, which skipped the bridge opening sequence. Enjoy. Comments and criticism appreciated. EDIT: Here's the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXCJQlXmHn8&fmt=18

About the entertainment problem, I asked a lot of online players and yt watchers about what they tought of the videos, most of the people ( experienced and newbie players ) prefered the fastest time completion run , that's one of the reasons that I'm redoing it.
Gee, I wonder why that is. You should do a fastest time run. They're clearly better than these "entertainment" runs.

it's not possible to continue since a soft reset isn't available. I understand it exists on Linux but it needs to be ported to Windows.
Other way around. The record reset mupen makes Linux close the emulator; it's fine on windows.
He's talking about MupenPlus, the one which resets the ROM and not the emulator. Anyway, I'll encode all our progress so far and post an AVI within the next few days.

Awesome use of boosts and Bunker entrance. However, looking at the ground was particularly annoying in this level. Are you absolutely sure it saves time? I wouldn't ask you to redo that level if it doesn't, but if it's all the same, you should probably avoid doing it from now on.

Places where a reset saves time. 1. As soon as I enter SCT for the first time, reset. This skips the SCT introduction scene. 2. As soon as I play the SoT after getting the OoT back. This skips the flashback scene, and the subsequent scene in SCT, allowing me to go directly into the Clock Tower after the second cycle starts. 3. After learning the Song of Healing, I could equip the OoT inside the Clock Tower, save, and reset. This might skip Tatl's dialogue when I return to SCT. (Haven't tested this yet, so it might not be faster. If it is faster, the run will have 4 cycles instead of 3, but the second one will be really short.) 4. After playing the SoT at the end of the second (third, assuming point 3 is faster) cycle. Might not be faster, but it'll skip the "going back in time" scene. I'll test both to see which is faster. EDIT: I've tested point 3 and it doesn't work. The SoT doesn't work inside the Clock Tower. Also, I'm thinking of naming him "SL". This would cost about a second overall, throughout the run. I think it's worth it.

For some wierd reason a rumor came up that TAS'es didn't lag at all.
This is only (as far as I know) the case in SM64, especially in Jolly Roger Bay. OoT and MM still lag in places, as do other games.

Surely the finished run can be encoded by someone who runs Windows.

I'm going to get back to work on this pretty soon, but I'm planning to do a reset to skip the cutscenes after playing the Song of Time. If the new Mupen is available within the next two months or so, I'll wait for that. Otherwise, I'm using antids. I don't care if it "resets the emulator and not the ROM." I'm not intentionally wasting over a minute when I know I can skip it by resetting.

i have a question sami, in mad monster mansion, when you were in the church and did the flippy thing, were you supposed to do a ground pound when you got onto the bench? because it looked like that didn't belong there.
Although it doesn't look like it, that's actually required to land on the bench.

I see. Good luck on finishing this. As for not seeing the credits, I seriously doubt anyone would care. What you could do is just let the final cutscene at the end of Egyptian play, and end the movie after the last shot at Baron Samedi.

That was sexy. One thing I wondered about RT's run, and you did it too, is in Facility, why do you get the keycard from the guard if the other guards open the door anyway? Wouldn't it be faster to just wait outside and go in? Or is the keycard actually needed elsewhere and I'm overlooking something? Also, how much do you think you'll be able to improve RT's run by overall? And are you including Aztec and Egyptian (I think you should. You could just press B after Cradle to get back to the level select screen then go to them)?

OoT is a good example: Popular game, no published TAS exists utilizing all the new tricks, so 2 new inexperienced people submit runs. Both get ripped to shreads by the level of perfection required for a run on this site. As far as I know, those 2 haven't returned to this site. Who can blame them? And who can blame others for not trying?
Actually, the others (i.e. me and AKA at the time) WERE working on it, but were experiencing major manipulation problems in the field. We were also waiting for Mupenplus to be ready so that we could use resets in the run. We made it clear in the topic that we were working on it. That shouldn't stop others from trying, but not only is it rude to do and submit a run when one is actively being worked on, but some people actually wanted those runs published just because they were faster than Guano's run, despite the time saved coming purely from new routes, as they were MUCH worse in terms of optimisation.

I would also like to nominate Bloobiebla's OoT run. Most deserving run of an award on the site, IMO.

LOL @ z0MG putting that quote from me (out of context, as before) in his sig, just because SS previously did it. My god, is there anything you DON'T do together?
