Just in case there's any confusion, this is what will be done: http://download.yousendit.com/5418F4182DB3243E

and excuse my noobiness yet again, but why can't you just press "no" when it asks if you want to continue playing when you die after falling into the void at ToT? Yes, I tested this last night and it puts you at the start of the ToT when you reload the file. It begs the question of why people are getting worked up about how to return to the start of it when this simple solution is obviously possible.

That was awesome. You've clearly improved a lot since that time you showed me your m64 via YouTube. (although that was pretty good as well, given how new you were at the time) Anyway, great job, and I strongly urge you to continue this run until the end. I especially liked the superflip off the Stalfos. :) One thing I noticed that you did consistently wrong was in areas where you couldn't sidehop right away, i.e. after talking to Mido after beating the Deku Tree, you got ready to sidehop then sidehopped when the game let you. This is actually slower. It's faster to just backwalk (because the game lets you do that right away without waiting) and switching to sidehopping when the time is right. Overall though, well impressed. Good job.

AKA once mentioned this thread as an example of a civilized discussion. Nice to see he was right. Yeah.

I've been working on an all stones/medals TAS regardless of it being on the site or not m64 or gtfo

If by "few frame" you mean "about 2 and a half seconds, therefore definitely worth it", then yes.

The SMB run was a smaller improvement over the previous run than this was, had less yes votes, and was submitted later than this. I guess it just comes down to how much the encoders like the game, huh...

It's still obviously faster to BLJ into both when done optimally...

Thanks everyone so far. I liked the camera angles from the AKA's 0 star run better wut You just showed the default side view most of the way through. I didn't want to use the same camera angles as the previous run, and I didn't want to do anything over-the-top *cough*6:45 run*cough*, so I kept it simple. And I liked the punching of the camera after defeating one of the Bowsers in the previous run :( Again, that belonged to the previous run. I didn't want to do the same stuff in this run that we did in the previous run. As for the screenshot, those were nice, Raiscan. I think this one should also be considered: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j177/SwordlessLink/suggestedscreenshot.png

Nice list, but you should probably mention that I also post my Super Mario 64 TASes there, as well as my WIPs for other projects. EDIT: Also, you forgot Mukki: http://uk.youtube.com/user/IWM85

I'm not really familiar with the game, but the run was very fast-paced and entertaining throughout, and kept me interested the whole time while watching. Yes vote.

Dungeon 3 done. VBM: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1779020073/SL%20OoA%20D3.vbm One again, a huge thanks to Tompa for checking my progress regularly in this dungeon, and helping me save frames at several parts. He also managed to manipulate more ember seeds in the boss battle (I was only able to get one seed), which will save quite a bit of time later on. :) Also, S@G, are you still able to encode these WIPs? If so, could you try and make the encode for this less than 100MB so I can put it on YouTube? <_< I already have one on there, but the quality is terrible. If you can't, don't worry about it.

Yay @ this being ran now. zOMG, you may wanna try the Direct64 plugin. It's what I'm using with OoT. It renders everything perfectly, maintains a great FPS rate, and hardly ever desynchs (I've gotten one minor desynch in about 20 minutes of gameplay). Of course, that's not to say it'll be the same with this game, but it's worth a shot. I'd test it for you, but I don't have the ROM at the moment. It'll probably save a bit of time with the first superslide in Hyrule Field, since Link can now be angled more towards Gerudo Valley since I don't have to avoid that fence anymore.

But if he were to keep going the way he's been going so far, his run wouldn't be publishable since we'd know it could be improved a lot. I know you're new to this, Darth, but if you're planning on making a submittable run of this game, then you should get used to TASing with VBA first. As Soulrivers said, TASing the Oracles is no easy task. Assuming you actually do try to do an optimal run, the manipulation will probably make you want to give up (it's made me want to give up several times in OoA, but I've managed to keep going...somehow). Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

It used to be assumed that side hopping was only faster on hills, for some reason. That's why it was never fully used until my run.

I generally agree with you on the frame-perfect thing, mwl, but I do think that different camera angles while side hopping could make the run better to watch in some places. I'd be reluctant to do it in any place where I didn't already have to wait, though, but if it would have a significant effect on the run's entertainment value, I might do it now and again. Although, I think it's entertaining enough as it is, for the most part, with the normal camera angles. So unless persuaded otherwise, I'm only going to do it when I have time to spare.

It would only be used when I HAVE to wait, like for the peahat to get into position or something.

Acryte: I'd still have to fall the same distance ultimately, so it wouldn't matter. EDIT: Also, the scrub room doesn't load until you're in the tunnel thing anyway...
