I totally disagree about creating a new category. Why don't you listen to the pro-OoT guys? They know what they are talking about. any% won't change enough to warrant a new category. That's it.
Seriously. Even if the site does decide to make it a new category, everywhere else is gonna refer to it as the any%, which means this site is gonna have two renditions of the any% published, which will look ridiculous.

I vote yes because Swordless Link didn't do this run.
Don't worry, I have a run coming up that you can vote no on. It's even on the Japanese ROM so you'll have a "legitimate" reason (even though it'll be published anyway XD).

Only thing changed at the beggining of the game was waiting 1 extra frame on the 3rd screen warp so the object on the screen would dissapear. This resulted in less lag and saved 15 frames initially. After collecting the sword, there was lag I was unable to aviod costing 3 frames getting into the 8th dungeon. This seems wrong. I remember testing delaying the screenwarp shortly after I finished my run back in 2008 (wish I'd noticed it earlier), and it only saved 8 frames IIRC. I was later able to save a few more on the way to the boss and the battle is definitely improvable (in my run, I mean). I might look into it soon. This run is good though, I know what a pain in the ass that boss is with all the lag. Yes vote here.

I'll confirm that the new TAS has been finished for a few days now. I've only given the m64 to a handful of people (mostly close friends and some of the hardcore Zelda speedrunners) and am waiting for the encode of it to be done before I submit it here.

Voted yes, of course. Really good job, and the 8 star door skip is amazing. I can't believe it took us this long to find all this stuff, though. I really enjoyed this run though, and hope someone does a 150 star run someday.

You'll probably have to just redo it manually. BTW, did you test if saving and quitting after becoming Mario in the castle is faster than walking back outside of the castle? Seems like it might be, when going to the basement.

Bloob is working on an improvement for his any% TAS. I can confirm that this is no longer happening, at least not for the moment. If Bloob hasn't improved it by the time I'm done with my all temples run, I'll probably take it up myself. And of course, the J ROM will still be used.

Ah. Well in that case, I have no complaints other than the uberglitch thing, and I know you're improving that as we speak. Yes vote. The run was really cool to watch. BitFS in particular was awesome.

Another thing I remember but am not 100% sure about: After getting a star and returning to the castle, you guys held up/left or whatever on the d-pad straight away, right? So that Yoshi/Mario would start moving on the first frame possible. IIRC, if you leave him standing for a few frames, then start holding a direction, he turns and faces that way instantly, instead of doing a slow turnaround like he does in the TAS. Let me know if this is the case, it should save a bit of time after each star if so.

Heh. Well, the glitch should be possible from the waterfall. The way we did it on the system back in 2005 or whenever was mostly done so that we'd hit the right part of the wall. It was basically just a setup. I think if you can get him to hit around that area (which should be easily doable with TAS), you should be able to do the glitch from far lower down. I'd still like to see an encode of the rest of it though, I'm pretty experienced with the game and might be able to help out with other parts of it.

I only watched the first part of the run because the emulator is too slow for me to want to continue, so I'll wait for the video before finishing. Why did you do a mini heaven's portal in the castle grounds before doing the uberglitch? You could definitely slidekick all the way up that hill before doing the uberglitch, I'm positive the mini heaven's portal is not necessary.

Thanks for the support, Synx. Synx: I'll just say you're wrong and leave it at that. The thread is derailed enough as it is. If you think the rules should change, make a separate thread for it. I think I'm gonna do this later, actually. I don't necessarily wanna withhold the run from the site (honestly, it will get way more traffic on my own YouTube channel than here anyway) but I see my run as an ample opportunity to get a silly rule (at least in regards to OoT) changed, so I think now is a good time to bring it up.

Yeah, that's fine. I'm well aware of the rules. If they wanna keep them, it's cool. I don't like them so I just won't submit my run if they aren't changed to what I and many others in this topic consider more sensical. Edit: Oh, I should also point out that I'm also breaking another "rule" the site has. The version of Mupen I'm using has resets, but it resets the entire emulator and not actually the ROM. I guess it's more equivalent to shutting the system off then turning it back on, than pressing the reset button. I remember people caring a lot about this silly difference a few years ago, and I'm sure some wonderful person would actually vote no based on it (XD).

I'm not even gonna submit it here unless that rule is changed, period. I don't want my run to be another "exception". Language in a TAS doesn't matter, fastest is always better.

EDIT: Ah, maybe I was wrong. Dampe has a speed cap. Yeah. :) And because that route is more direct than the jumpslash one, it ends up being faster overall. Don't worry, I did test both, and the difference isn't huge, but the one I took is indeed faster.

An improvement to Bloob's all temples TAS (2 hours 51 mins). I have a bunch of WIPs on YouTube. I guess I'll post them all here now: Rupee route: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3i0t6PyAzM Getting to Kakariko: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glLOuqKljpw Bottom of the Well (has first reset): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIY28FLP4SQ Getting to Dodongo's Cavern: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkQgUs3ADZE Dodongo's Cavern: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhY2bjYcgzg Getting to Zora's River: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGopaVQrnjM Getting to Jabu-Jabu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxcN5MK6yo4 Jabu-Jabu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwWd4g_qh2Q Getting to the castle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf4kmighdb4 I didn't upload a WIP of the castle stuff and becoming an adult cause it's mostly cutscene. Getting to the graveyard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDdSsu1lE8g Dampe race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwQmkasoxUU Those are all of the public WIPs I've posted. Right now, I'm about to do the Shadow Temple boss key skip.

Yeah, we can easily have both resets and the pause lag fixed now. As Slowi said, it's shown in my WIPs. It would sure be nice if someone would make an optimised 100% TAS for free, but you're naive if you think anyone would want to. The new all temples run that I'm doing is going to be about 2 hours 15 mins when it's done and that's already pushing the envelope. I can't imagine doing a 6+ hour run for literally no pay. The "nice feeling" of making a run that people enjoy would not be worth the time and effort investments in that case. That's why money is necessary.

It's gonna take more than just asking him to get him to do it. I personally would be looking for some kind of monetary "motivation" to do a run that long and tedious. As for the low% run, sounds like a great idea, you should definitely do it. Don't be discouraged if this site somehow wouldn't want to accept it (even if they said they didn't and you submitted anyway, it'd almost certainly be accepted).

I got this same email today. We can't do it, anyway. One of the rules on YouTube about partnerships says that it can't be video game footage unless you have written permission from the person that made the game.

About 2000 or 2001, I think. A Game Boy emulator, probably VBA. I also remember trying a version of Project64 around this time and being frustrated at how slow it was on my computer.

You're a pretty weak person if you need someone's posts to actually be hidden in order for you to ignore them. Edit: Never mind that other thing I said, wrong topic. >_>

This run was awesome. So much better to watch than the original Smash Bros. Great job. I voted yes.
