Sorry for the doublepost, but I was wondering if you made any progress?

There was over a year ago but it was never finished https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMs0pFiIGw8 ^This is just part of it
I am guessing you will delay any potential progress until any% is complete? Everybody seems hyped for the new any%. Personally I am hyped as fuck.

So when's the TAS starting? so hyped for it :D
Yeah me too! We should work on this in a team like we did for the 100% TAS. You should start the run as soon as possible and get this amazing shit finally going! I will definitely join as well after I've finished all of my exams in 2 weeks. Good luck with the rupee manipulation, I'll pray to god that you get it done before I join so I don't have to bother with it ;P

The full wrong warp: Link to video I used a savestate with 2-3-1 skipped and the warp moved closer to the entrance. I'm pretty sure the warp doesn't have to be this close to the entrance. Also, the first chu should explode without any waiting, even if it means colliding it with a third chu. The timer manipulation here was also crap. If we're still unsure whether getting chus is faster we need to optimize this including the Gohma fight before timing anything.
This is great!

Sorry for the derailment guys, but I just read this thread like 2 years back because of way too much free time at the moment and I wanted to share this gem with you all.

Having to get 4 deku sticks made it significantly slower to skip sword.
Are you just assuming that, or is there good evidence complete with semi-accurate timings to support that margin of victory is greater than margin or error? This reminds me last time I tried show everyone swordless was faster. Let's not blindly assume things until some math has been done please.
There's no point in timing it because it's obviously much slower. The only reason no one has objected this is because they're ignoring you.
That's exactly what everyone said about swordless for the ~40 minute strategy, including MrGunz. I proved it was faster by a decent margin, MrGunz took note and peer reviewed my work (my work being 1st grade math and few youtube videos, 5-10 minutes of work, an open mind and some basic logic) and confirmed I was in fact completely right. That's exactly what everyone said about bean skip to get up to gauntlets in desert temple. I argued bomb hover would be faster and showed the 1st grade math to prove it. Years later people figured out I was right all along. So here were are, same situation, I'm not quite able to get very accurate estimates since there aren't any good videos for a couple of the off route detours for getting the sticks, and there's large tree possible strategies with subtly differences. But it shows something like 7s faster with a 8s margin of error, so likely between -1 and 15s faster. MrGunz, wiser this time, never dismissed this possibility from the start and has been peer reviewing my work and seems be finding similar preliminary results. Historically it's been proven closed minds are counter productive to speedrunning and don't serve the community. Open minds, 1st grade math, and basic logic is how you plan good speedruns.
It seems his dream of a swordless TAS is so close now! EDIT: also found this:

Also, is there definitely no way to get past the 2-3-1 room OoB without bombs? That's all that shield is really needed for, right?
Can't be done as child. And it does help with pcs and isg.
Is it possible to skip shield too now? Or is it needed to block bombchu damage or something?

What's with all the bizhawk-hype. All the TAS'es of zelda on n64 have been done on mupen so far. It would probably be a pain to switch to bizhawk.

awesome work GlitchesAndStuff! So at this moment it seems chus are faster to me. Alltough the experts are still testing, so we will have to wait and see.

I for one would really like to see a new any% run. The no A-press stuff is fun, but any% is what intrigues me the most. Good luck beating the current WR if you decide to go for it.

nice TAS. Well done. Yes vote from me. But maybe it would be faster if you used the running-button.

I think most of the improvement came from using the A-button. Does anybody know if they are going to submit it? It would be awesome if they did

I would like to see Zelda Ocarina of Time swordless any%. And I would like to see Spider-Waffle unbanned since he was right about swordless being faster afterall.

For those who don't know, Google bought twitch and are implementing tons of destructive features. Twitch is pretty much useless right now unless you watch live.

Pydoyks's 21:18 was essentially the same in terms of perfection for the time. He also hasn't done actual any% runs in over 9 months and he's still #5 on the leaderboards. Cosmo's run was also absolutely amazing, so there's that.
Yeah Pydoyks is unreal man. But the new run from Cosmo just had that added feeling of perfection when watched.

I doubt he can. Sowrdless doesn't save that much time.
I think he is good at saving time. Swordless has had some nice runs submitted here in the past. (Yes I know you wasn't talking about SwordLessLink) I am curious to see who will work towards the new TAS though. Grunz seems to be busy with other stuff, Swordless has been gone a while, Bloobiebla I don't know. Maybe someone half-unknown will give it a go.
i know this is gonna flair up the forums but, me moronicTAS and Link the hylian might be able to do this TAS.
Nevermind the haters. Good luck!

With the swordless-route I guess it will be a race now between the usual suspects for the new any% TAS.

It's not a TAS (well maybe Kappa), but Cosmo finally uploaded his 18:10 with commentary! Link to video
One of the last things he says is "Spider-Waffle is rolling in his grave now". Thank you Cosmo! You are a funny guy. That run is so insanely amazing. I always thought of pydoyks as the superior realtime OoT-runner. Justifying it with reasons such as he used "old slower routes" and a "slower version of the game", but this run right here by cosmo is above anything previously done in OoT by anyone. I doubt pydoyks or anyone else can beat it unless a major new discovery is made. Thanks again Cosmo if you are reading this. I watched the original video of your run multiple times and it's even better with your epic commentary.

This "don't press A" stuff has been fun. But now I think it's time to focus on using every button available again.

No. But it does make it possible to complete the game without a shield edit: Disregard this statement, it turned out to be false
