Great! Then swordless is pretty much guaranteed to be faster. Do you have any plans on working on the new TAS?

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm only a spectator of TASes, nothing else), but I counted 4 sticks: The first at the beginning of the run, instead of going for the sword, you go buy one stick. You break the same stick when you go from Zora river to Kakariko village, the same way you use the sword in the actual TAS. Then when you're back in Kokiri forest, you go buy 2 sticks (reason why you collect 60 rupees, for shield + 2 sticks), and pick the last one inside Deku Tree, so they're four.
Thank you for the correction. You are right. He did collect 4 sticks in the comparisonvideo.

I've shown already that skipping the sword is 10 to 15 seconds faster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSRn5A59ji4 TAS will still use 4 sticks like RTA (Grunz's idea for preserving sticks didn't work out).
Thank you for replying on this issue Bloobiebla. I did see the video earlier when you posted it. But there are some slides from the current TAS (where you used the sword) not shown in the comparison. For example the slide from zoras river to kakariko village through hyrule fields and the slide into the cutscene outside the great dekutree. The latter doesn't seem to work with a stick? I would also like to note that you only collect 3 sticks in the comparisonvideo. Thanks again for replying, it's nice to finally hear the results of the experiment from grunz to save sticks, even if it was unsuccessfull. If the difference really is 10-15 seconds then that is pretty huge.

Skipping the sword is faster for non tool assisted since you can't abuse all the small timesavers the sword offers you as much. It is close though so I might be wrong, in that case I am sure bloob or Grunz will correct me.

It seems that getting the sword is still faster for TAS

how many sticks would you need for a swordless TAS?

He tends to write things a certain way, as if to intentionally annoy or possibly troll others. But if he is right about the claims he made about the TAS, then that should be enough. I don't even know if the critisism he made of the run is fair. It would be nice if someone with knowledge of the game could verify his comments. The reason I am sceptical is because he has been wrong on simular statements about other games in the past. (ref: Ocarina of Time)

To be honest he might have fucked up. It's been more than 2 days since he asked for 2 days.

I have been saying that not getting the sword should be faster since forever, but nobody listens to me. :(
To be precise it was actually spider-waffle who suggested this first (at least in this thread). I am still pretty convinced that the time saved with sword makes up for the detour of getting it though. Until somebody proves otherwise

Skater has the second best time currently, with his 19:00: http://www.twitch.tv/skater82297/c/3751632 Shaeden/Pydoyks hasn't been streaming for over four months. Not sure if he'll go back to OoT or not. Heard he was busy with Melee or something like that...
All true. I hadn't heard the melee-part. I personally hope he returns. He just had the most skill I have ever seen anyone have at OoT

I watch Cosmo's stream from time to time and I also watched his new WR. It is pretty nice. I still feel like Shaedan is the best OoT-player in the world. His old WR of 19:04 uses an about 8 sec slower version (JPN VC instead of CHI) and he also went to the top of the deku tree before dropping down. It will be interesting to see if he will be able to challange Cosmos record again. Btw, what's up with the new guy? It was bad enough with spider-waffle. Now we have to deal with this guy. I fear our already unconstructive conversations will be even harder to keep on topic now. edit: just saw your post Spikestuff. Skater had 19:00, you are correct.

Sorry for being a negative Nancy, but this run deserves a star. It is amazing in every way imaginable and a moon is disappointing.

Sam did an awesome "Ganonless" TAS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMlk1HWPlKI Btw, for everyone waiting for the new any%: Sorry for the massive delay, but Ganon didn't turn out to be a trivial task like it used to be. We hope to get it done soon, but because I have no time at all until next week, we decided to stop working on the run until then.
No problem at all. Good luck with the rest of the run. I am rooting for both of you edit: new world record for any% non tool assisted oot. link: http://www.twitch.tv/nedeahs/c/3330853 . I figured I would post the link since I posted the last two world records. Shaeden gets his record back.
