Guys, I discovered a huge glitch after the bossfight of the firetemple. Link seems to be on his way to getting the firemedallion and continue onwards, but the game screws up and displays the credits instead. Someone needs to look into what's going on here. I voted yes since I really did find the video entertaining even though I don't like warps straight to the credits.

thank you for the update Grunz. It is amazing to hear that you have gotten so far. Kinda sad to learn that you are being stopped by random lag during a cutscene, but what can you do? Here's to you getting the same amount of frames as your last TAS or fewer on your next try

No specific problem, 3D zeldas are just extremely demanding to optimize.
I am curious about the technical difficulties presented by the new tricks discovered since the last run. And if the new tricks had any unforseen consequenses. My guess is that you are wrong, there are probably many specific problems as well as OoT being extremely demanding to optimize.

What is the differences between that and a TAS-route? I guess a TAS would skip the guy who stops u from going to the deku tree?
Yeah skipping Mido is basically the only difference at this point. There is actually not that much to redo from the previous TAS, but I don't think Grunz wants to, at the moment, and everybody else would have to start from scratch. So yeah...
What is Grunz up to atm? I always imagine him being busy as the lead programmer of microsoft or something
Yeah, that comes pretty close to what I do when I don't feel like TASing. Bloob and I are working on the run at the moment. As we are trying to do a real frame war, the progress is rather slow.
Any update on this? Has any frames been saved and have you gotten to the cucco collecting part yet? I am really looking forward to the new run and I am sort of hoping for a sneak peak at a WIP. If my expectations are too high it's only because I'm psyched about the project!

new non-tool assisted world record yesterday by Cosmo. Link for those who wants to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=D3HT0--ieUY EDIT: interestingly he notes that he is using the chinese version, and that this is faster than the japanse one due to no lag. This shouldn't be a factor for us as the chinese version isn't emulated.

That is awesome news indeed! I wish you both the best of luck in shaving those frames off.

no. It is not up to date sorry. The record on that site is 3 days older and 2 seconds slower than the one I pasted

So I just saw the world record speedrun (non-tool assist) for this game. It is set this month and here it is for those who haven't, but wants to see it: http://www.twitch.tv/nedeahs/c/2535039 What is the differences between that and a TAS-route? I still think it's a troll, but just in case OP was serious I will provide a real reply. It doesn't matter what condition you have. You are free to submit TAS'es and you will be treated like everyone else here. If your first work is subpar some people here might provide you with helpfull feedback while others might deliver rude comments. GL anyways.

gz to OP for a successfull troll. Dunno how anyone is taking you seriously. Too bad we didn't get a retard saying "no... we will not allow any people with disabilities TAS'ing games". Then there would be so much more drama from this.

I'm hoping the 100% definition chosen will piss off as much people as possible.
The 100% definition is allready set and yes it pisses off a lot of people. The runners may still decide to get dungeonitems if it is their personal prefferance. I am happy that people are contributing to the discussion and I am confident the runners apreciate it as well, but ultimately it is their decission what to get.

Nice to see people care about the potential 100% TAS enough to share their opinions. It is good that we are having this discussion now instead of when someone is halfway through the run. There are some reoccuring concerns. The main ones being completeness and entertainment. Both of which are crucial to the potential run.

I'll leave my opinion here even though I don't really care about this game so much. Everything that can be collected should be collected, regardless of it's usefulness or the fact that it'll be replaced. Of course I'm not talking about getting every single arrow or bomb in the game, you got the point. If skipping a single item keeps you from getting a 100% completion in games that keep track of these things, you should follow the same rules here, that's what I think.
A 100% definition for any game is deducted from what the game in question keeps track of. The 100% definition for OoT is from what OoT tracks.

I think maps, compasses, and boss keys should count for 100%, although I dislike the idea of adding 30 seconds per dungeon of 'you got a thing' cutscenes.
The dungeonitems (map, compass, bosskey) are kept track of in their respective dungeons, but can not be checked for outside the dungeon it is for, after you have finished the dungeon. The 100% OoT speedruns on console (non-TAS) also use the endgame pausescreen as a check for 100%. Consistency is usefull for comparing times and routes.

I stand corrected. According to the definition you are actually not permitted to skip any of the heart pieces. Sorry for the confusion

Ok. So I will take the time to write down what the complete definition of 100% for OoT is. First I want to make it clear that we do not need a general 100% definition that could potentionally be used for all games here. We will be content with a definition of 100% for OoT. All max upgraded items for each slot visible when pausing the game must be collected. Items such as the silverscale can be skipped as it would have to be replaced with the goldscale later anyways. Itemduping does not permit you to skip collecting simular items. (rba, heart pieces, gold skulltullas) Dungeonspecific items such as the map, compass and bosskey can not be checked for outside of the dungeon it is for, hence it is not covered under the first sentence in our definition, allowing the runner to skip these as he sees fit. Max ammunition for items are not needed. (You don't need to have exactly 50 arrows, 40 bombs etc upon completing the game, the biggest quiver and bomb-bag however are still needed) Notice that the definition leaves room for skipping whichever heartpiece is most convinient to the runner. Since there are 37 obtainable heart pieces and only 36 are required to fullfill 100%

just follow the same rules as the speedrunning community and that's it.
But the question I had, which we should discuss, is if the 100% run should get the additional heart piece in Lord Jabu Jabus belly that is only accessible with game shark codes. I think so, because it's awesome
