There is a lot of room for improvement on a natural run of this game. Better Turtle Rock and Catfish Maw routes have been discovered, and a boss trick. Additionally, I got one too many chests. I think 1:42 run is possible on DX. I think a 1:39 run is possible on standard. This is one game where time attacking will allows a lot of advantages...maybe as much as 15 minutes I would guess...

You need to activate the sequence in which Marin is at the beach in order to get her to wake the Windfish. This sequence is not activated until you give the Bear in Animale Village the pineapple.

Quick Text Skip via pressing B. DX doesn't have it.

Under a route Michael Fried posted on my forum for a human run, it was blantantly obvious I could get in the 33 range. My current run, minus the mistakes I shouldn't have made, should have been close to 35 mins flat, rather than 36 mins. I think the route I must take involves getting the Magical Sword later, if ever, one gamble being successful, doing Level 3 first, and getting my items at more convenient shops. I do plan on beating the 1st Quest Time, but my next project is Link's Awakening.

About run 87 I said to hell with skipping the Blue Mail. It is about a 20 second deviation...so it's significant.

Q) Why didn't you use the red staff in the water palace instead of moving that statue? A) If you move right and the block is no longer on screen, it vanishes. Q) In the last crystal palace, why don't you run down the walls all instead of using bombs? A) You can't. Q) When travelling on the rafts (the ones you make with the red staff) in the last crystal palace you can use the hookshoot to avoid the fires that tries to hit you. If that is wanted that is. Otherwise you could take damage to save time, which you already do. :) A) God damn, I knew Master Quest's puzzle involving the Fire Wall was an homage to something (nearly every puzzle was). I should have realized using the hookshot made you invulnerable. It does in Ocarina of Time. Anyway, didn't hurt my time...just my life.

It's almost done uploading. Then Radix has to convert the file to the proper format. Then he has to re-upload the files to the server. So... Transfer Files to Radix: Done by Tomorrow (Dec 16th) Convert Files: ETC no later than Friday (Dec 17th) Upload to Server and Test: ETC Monday (Dec 20th) Update on Run: Next Week Don't hold anything to those dates for sure...just my guesses.

If you are doing a time attack, then I hope my soon-to-be-online video will help. It is truly not the same as the 1:51 video online. I mean, drastically different Dark World route and strategy. I also hope the time impresses...as I said on my own forum, I nailed a run earlier Thurs morning that I think is going to turn quite a few heads...and I think this run surpasses my OoT run.

These are the reasons it is taking so long: 1) It is not easy to produce a good run on ALttP, it takes tons of attempts. I've done about 120 in the last 60 days. That's 2 a day. 2) I have captured two runs below the WR time, but I have reviewed them and found potent enough mistakes that would leave the current WR holder an opportunity to beat me based on plain skill, not path choices. 3) I am trying to make a near flawless run for a human player. My goal is that once this video goes live, you must be TRULY better than me to beat it. I don't want it going online only to reveal my strategy so some other person just uses it to beat me. I have two other people (not the WR holder) saying they want to see this run so they can beat me. I want to make them eat their words. 4) The video files are around 2GB. I'm on WiFi. It is unreliable at this moment. I have to upload the video to Radix's server, which will take possibly a few days. If for some reason I can't get the video to Radix via internet before Dec 17th (when I leave college for home), I will mail him CDs with the files broken up. So when I say it's taking time, it means I'm trying runs and not succeeding, or testing out new strategies.

Legit run will be up by Dec 17th, 2004. No exceptions (at least on my end). So give it 2 weeks. Sorry for making everyone wait, but it will be worth it.

Radix said a 100% completion and low % completion on hard are being worked on as we speak. I think "kip" is one of the guys working on this (he has a ton of the original MP records).

It would have been faster...I had a mental lapse at that moment, and rather than pausing to think - I just made a choice. So it cost me the time to roll from the "warp point" inside the Temple of Time to the Master Sword...but how long I would have been standing still to figure out which route was quicker could have been worse.

Yeah - I made a speed run of Four Swords Adventures (Japanese) within 3 weeks of its release, but it was easily an hour too long for a good run. So a good run may take a few months.

Side Hopping is only faster on "angles". And it depends then, too. On a level plain, I found rolling was faster. I tried it out to the Deku Tree...and I realized how "not fast" it was, and it showed how it was "not easy" to line up quickly.

Have any of you actually done time comparisons between "side hopping' and rolling? Come back when you do. You'l be suprised. Anyway, my definition of 100% run: 100 Skulltulas All items (This is sub items, like the Adult/Giant Wallet, Biggoron Sword, Golden Scale, etc) All HCs All ocarina songs And no, I have no interest in a 100% run. But you can ask me questions. I'm working feverishly on my new ALttP run...and I've had 1 success so far, but I want to push it further.

100% Run? Every HC, Every Item Obtained Once, all 100 Skulltulas achieved legitly? 6-6.5hrs? Shouldn't take longer than 7 hours at most.

About the 3 heart, 0 death and 0 damage runs[/i] The "no damage" part cuts out a few tricks, and additionally, you have to get the Zora Tunic. Probably take I'd say...5:15? I don't know. It just seems like you need to be more prudent and you have to cut back here and there, and add a few more steps.

Yeah - thanks for that offer - but I meant a legal way. I also think the emulation could possibly have flaws and result in unfavorable conditions. Additionally, the video needs to hold up to criticism - if I do a run via illegal emulation (although technically the GCN game is emulation, too - but LEGAL) means, it won't hold up. So thanks, but I'll keep hoping.

My point kinda was there is no other version besides the GCN version, in Japan or the rest of the world. No version was released on N64 or 64 DD ever, even though it was completed.

The problem with Master Quest is that you must play it on the GameCube. The GCN controller was not designed for Ocarina of Time. It's actually rather detrimental to my gameplay to use the GCN controller. About the ONLY thing it favors is the quick spin attacks - they're somehow easier to pull off. But as for aiming, precision movement, and playing songs - it sucks. If somebody can find a way to play Master Quest on N64, I might be interested. The game definately can be completed quicker than Ocarina of Time. The game is broken in so many places it's not even funny. I skipped half of the Fire and Water Temples on my first try. I really don't have much of an interest in any other games for speed running or competition. I don't have the heart for it, only Zelda. I'm working about 100 times as hard on my ALttP run than I did on my OoT, and the results I am producing in the preliminary practice runs are spectacular. I have a feeling you're going to see a significantly faster WR on ALttP when I'm done. Just a tidbit - I've done about 100 Light World practice runs - the average time gained over the current WR is 52.32 seconds. That's nearly 1 minute. Just a little teaser.
