Nice improvement! There might be some techniques you could use in my test run (only stage 1) I made before. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/26991170519151961

What mtvf1 mentioned was my first run of this game and had uploaded it to Nico (and deleted). Here is the movie file of the second run. It looks like a normal speedrun and uses warp technique to shortcut. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/47438983708268465

The one I made before was not a tas movie aiming for fastest speed, so I cannot compare this run with mine. 05A4 is somewhere you can check the current speed and the max speed of this guy on skateboard is 0x52. When he throws an axe in the air, he loses his speed by 1 and then needs to stop pressing the right key in a couple of frame to gain maximum again. As far as I checked the first two stage, it looked well optimized.

For your info, I uploaded a movie file I made several years ago. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/41289430800559246 http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/41323980399663048 (faster but more boring one)

I suspect the ending screen is not real because there is no character "N" and character "D" in the pattern tables when the player is in the castle.

Thank you for checking lap time. Unfortunately, this game has a 4 frame rule which sometimes nullifies small improvement and I put some empty frames at stage 3 to make the mouse appear earlier at stage 4. And I also put some empty frames at stage 4 to make sure that a goonie appeared at stage 5 and the fish appeared at the right time. I checked the movie again and didn't find any loss when climbing down ladders. You are right. I lost 15 frames when the ghost attacked. Actually, I tweaked a timing of scroll around the first door at stage 3 to make the timer 1 (in this case, no extra time needed) or something less than 7, but it ended in vain. I'm not so positive about submitting my other movies here because they are not optimized enough, but thank you again for your comment.

Thank you for your comment. I quite understand what you mean, especially just walking for the most part. One of the most difficult things of making this movie is to get important items dropped by mobs and the boss without waiting so much. It's only about 3% chance to get and besides the rnd of this game is not very random, so items are sometimes dropped three frames in a row and often have to wait more than 100 frames to be dropped. I tried to control the rnd as much as possible not to wait so much. Come to think of it, which item is dropped by each mob is fixed. For example, guys with clubs only drop potions or money ($1, $2, $5, $10 at random). And when you sleep in an inn to be level 4 to be able to cut down mountains, it's only about 0.5% chance because once you go to bed, the result of her growth is fixed, not changeable in the meantime, so I managed to minimize waiting time by doing something different beforehand. The glitched wharf allows me to skip some necessary things like getting Marco the Whale and Tiara which are normally essential to beat the game and it takes long, so it's a big improvement. This is a famous Valkyrie TAS video posted about 9 years ago on YouTube which didn't use the glitched wharf.

Thank you for the encode. I started making this movie just after watching RTA in Nicovideo which was published last week, so it was just a coincidence. Thank you for correcting me. I've already fixed it. Pauses are mainly used for cancelling encounter and luck manipulation. And some of them are just for equipping or using items especially silver keys to open gates which are invisible without a lamp.
