That's because it predates Doom TASes being allowed for publication, like Akse's other TASes. This was stellar work when first released and still is today. With optimal movement (without instant "TAS turns"), skilled use of a wide variety of tricks, and nonstop action, this is a shoe-in for Moons. I vote "Yes" on this one.

The Doom engine's native resolution is 320x200. It was scaled up to 320x240 on the monitors of the time to conform to the then-common 4:3 aspect ratio, with the pixels stretched vertically. More details here. PrBoom-plus has many resolutions available in not only 4:3, but 16:9, 16:10, and even 5:4. In each case, the status bar is scaled up as well (with filler on each side for non-4:3 resolutions). For 4:3, the options available from the menu go up to 1280x1024. However, you can edit the "screen_resolution" option under "Video settings" in prboom-plus.cfg to change it to whichever setting is necessary for an encode, such as "1440x1080" for a 1080p encode. (This can be used for reference, by using 320x240 as the base values.) Thus, for the prospective "non-pixelated" encode, it will be possible to do TASVideos's usual HD encodes at the game's original 4:3 aspect ratio. However, last I checked, PrBoom-plus's video capture feature does not capture the game's distinctive "melting screen" effect for screen transitions. (It might have changed for the current test version; I haven't checked yet.) Also note that in PrBoom-plus, it shows the stat screen after the eighth level of each Doom episode, which must be skipped to see the ending. The original Doom, meanwhile, skips straight to the ending after any of those levels are completed. All encoding issues aside, this run was an impressive piece of work when it came out with its precise movement and its optimized use of the crazy E2M6 trick, and still is. This run earns a Yes vote.

This game was also originally an Atari Lynx game. The view is much smaller than in the Genesis version, but it has widespread, attention-grabbing use of sprite scaling; and while it doesn't have the best audio in the world, it's significantly less ear-splitting than the Genesis version's. It makes me wonder if the next TAS of this game should be done on the Lynx version, and whether any tricks used in this movie could be done on the Lynx version as well. (In case anybody forgot, Lynx movies are allowed and we already have one published.)

That should be obvious from the fact that "M.U.G.E.N" appears in the video name before you even click on it. ;) Of course, that's assuming you're not just being sarcastic or playful. :3 I watched this yesterday just for the sheer novelty of watching a MUGEN TAS. I experimented with making tool-assisted combos using AutoMacro, but not with using Hourglass for the same purpose or even a full TAS. There's all sorts of chaos possible with two-player tag team, as seen in SDR's other MUGEN video. I wonder if you didn't do it for this game because it'd interfere with the scoring system and end-of-match displays. It is funny that you compliment the balance of this game in the video description when you have Terry Bogard performing rapid-fire Any Cancels without depleting meter. ;) All in all, at least I was entertained. A little question: How'd you get both opponents to stand up after KOing them? You did it more than once in the TAS (I'd have to check the video again to see where), and it's something that'd be funny for me to try pulling off in MUGEN. ;)

Calling something a "hack" implies that the developers took another game's programming and used it to make their game. Unlicensed games, for all that can be said about their quality, are usually built from the ground up with engines the developers programmed themselves, even if just to mimic another game. To use an example already on the site, Squirrel King for the Genesis is an unlicensed knock-off of Capcom's Rescue Rangers games, but it is not a hack; the games they are copying were only ever released for the NES, so the developers programmed their own version of the engine from scratch. The infamous Genesis Super Mario World, on the other hand, qualifies as a hack; it is an edit of Squirrel King which replaces the knockoff Chip and Dale with the Mario Brothers and the first stage with World 1-1. This Jurassic Park game, crappy as it is, looks to have been made from scratch, not based off of any other game, and is therefore not a hack. The movie itself seems to be technically sound; the TAS player executes a shortcut flawlessly and is able to grab all of the eggs using what looks like the shortest path. Therefore, I say "Yes" to publishing this run in the Vault.

Given that we now have a published TAS for the arcade version, and the description for this TAS focuses on how bad of a game the NES version is, I think it now ought to be emphasized that this is a terrible port of an arcade game. It can be as simple as amending the last sentence to refer to "the superior arcade version" instead of just "the arcade version," or the second sentence to contrast the poor qualities described with that of the arcade version (which has much better controls, superior graphics and sound, and no fake difficulty through random factors, respectively, as well as a much faster pace compared to the plodding NES version). Either way...

What's up with the volume boost in the last boss sound effects... a part of FBA glitching up?

The final boss has multiple places where he can be hit, and I'll hazard a guess that the apparent sound boost in that fight is because the lightning blast is hitting all of them at once. It would make sense, at least.

Yeah, this looks much more optimized than the previous submission. In fact, the final boss battle was hilarious, as I wasn't aware he could be defeated that quickly. I can only vote Yes to this for being quick and well-played.

I could've sworn Castle of Dragon was unplayable in FBA, last I checked. It's definitely much better than the NES version. Alas, I have to vote No on this one for Optimization reasons, because the longplay beats stages 4 and 6 faster than you do.

Great work... although, technically, I found that noclip glitch, the pause exploit, and the penetrating grenade exploit first. Alas, the .vbm file was lost a long time ago. Still, I would like to be credited for my work even if you couldn't see it. In any case, Yes vote for using optimal strategies and maintaining entertainment throughout the whole 9 minutes and 38 seconds.

A friend of mine was talking to me about a TAS he was working on. I went to the site, and two years later, I registered.

Hah, did Retsupurae bring this game to someone else's attention here?
I was gonna say... between their two-part rongpurae and this TAS-in-progress, this game sure has been getting some attention lately! The boss fight (the mighty Scorpion falls to getting punched in the face over and over) and the aftermath (running from one side of the room to the other without doing the FATALITY and then tea-bagging him when he falls over) are funny, at least to me. The movie in general looks well-played and optimal, and I look forward to seeing the rest of it. I concur with the (currently) sole YouTube comment that if it's possible, you should include an alternate .pjm with all the cutscenes in it, because they're pretty unintentionally funny. ;)

There seem to be an awful lot of "Eric the Hedgehogs" to go around, so here are some of my favorites. All descriptions, of course, are quoted verbatim. http://e-rock95.deviantart.com/art/Eric-the-Hedgehog-112158254
this me wen i like turn into a hedge hog some day. more pics of meh will come soon. also jen mike and amy will be added to my gallery. but omg its mee
Well, he certainly types his age.
i thought the other 1 kinda sucked so i made a better version hope ya like it dudeXD
I like this for the fact that he tried to sprite-edit a 3D model. Wow. http://r0cknr011.deviantart.com/art/Eric-the-Hedgehog-58651418 I'm not quoting the full description here, which is massive, but I can sum it up like this: Shadow the Hedgehog's nicer, bumbling autistic brother. Who is, of course, the first prototype of the Ultimate Life Form. Really. http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/File:EricMtHTT.png No description. "Oh man, I'm a recolor, but I'm so much better than the others because I've got a meme on my shirt. BOOYAH!" http://shado8xrouge.deviantart.com/art/Eric-the-Hedgehog-80346152
Okay I havent drawen Eric in a long time so heres a new updated look at my emo little wuvly hedgehog so give him a hug to make him happy  Tool:MS Paint By: Me
I think anyone would be emo if some fangirl went and stole all of their clothes. And then we have this guy, who, uh, isn't quite the kind of hedgehog we're looking for.

That was the best one yet! Especially the final battle, which showed off more skill (dodging, etc.) than has been necessary in any of the previous Metal Slug games.
Yeah, I forgot to mention; the final boss seems like he'd be a royal pain in the ass to fight in real time, what with the flurry of projectiles and lasers, and the fight in this movie seems impressive in that light. Either way, I look forward to seeing Metal Slug 5 taken on like this.

I've looked in the options, and I'm not sure if something would solve this issue. Is there a way to cover this black thing? If not, then I guess I'll encode this leaving that black thing.

I get the same thing when I watched the run. I think it may be a fault of the game itself and not any encoding issue.
After playing up to that section of the game myself in both MAME (MAMEUI64 0.142u4, specifically) and FBA-rr just now, I can confirm that this is an emulation error. If you're playing that section of the level in MAME, the black bars won't appear. (I gotta say I look forward to seeing MAME get fully-functioning TAS tools...) I will now watch this movie, and then vote. EDIT: Once again, x2poet dominates the game in an entertaining manner. On top of the mayhem and the fun wait periods, there was even some hitbox exploitation near the end. (One of the final boss' second form's bullet streams completely fails to hit either player, even though it looks like it should.) All in all, it's yet another successful Metal Slug movie. I vote Yes to this movie, for another great two-player run in the series. Enjoy your dinner!

This run continues the Mortal Kombat tradition of hilariously glitchy playarounds, and does not disappoint. From machine-gun rolls to Nightwolf's Leg of Doom (wow, the testers seriously didn't notice that?) to two characters inexplicably switching colors mid-battle, all sorts of bugs can be found here. And the whole thing is hysterical. This port was apparently churned out in four months, and it shows. I vote Yes to this movie, for being an entertaining romp through the worst Mortal Kombat port ever.

what was the Athena vs. Clarke fight everybody keeps mentioning?
It happens during Stage 3, at 3:14 in the encode. Athena starts running into the corner early on — but that's okay, because Clark keeps running up to her and jumping at her without doing anything. She also tricks him into using his Napalm Stretch anti-air throw when she's too low to the ground and far away for him to catch her.

Indeed, he does. The poor guy is weak to his own eye lasers, and the TAS exploits a sweet spot which is pointed out in the credits (21:02 in the YouTube video). Yes vote for looking well-played (I've never played this) and being entertaining, even if the "move the bags of flour on conveyor belts" bit was a bit of a drag (but not the player's fault.)

I could never get through this game as a kid, so seeing it destroyed so ridiculously quickly is satisfying, even if I've never seen the previous submissions. Lots of things about this run wowed me, but the Fushin shortcuts in particular were awesome. Plus, I liked the zany motions done throughout the run, like gliding, rolling on floors, suddenly moonwalking near the end of 2-1, etc. I'm also glad you used the original release of the game; I had always been curious as to what the original Spider-Man battle looked like. Apparently, once you damage him enough, he doesn't just climb out and let Batman appear (as with the demon thing in the later releases,) he literally turns into Batman. Crazy! I give this slick effort a Yes vote.

Heh, nice tricks. Apparently, that "instantly kill you if you hold it up to light and read the runes on it" amulet is also a "make you briefly intangible" amulet! And in a game where you can and will die all the time, it's surprising to see someone use death to their advantage! All in all, a solid improvement. Yes vote.

I liked the previous version of this run, too, but the overhead stages definitely seem better this time. The glitch is still awesome, particularly for the fact that if you use it in the last stage, even the ending and credits are skipped! Heh. I give this one a Yes vote, and I agree that it should not obsolete the current run, but rather be published separately as a "glitched" run.

I don't play an instrument, but I've done some MIDI tracks. Only two of them are published yet, though; they can be found in the Doom II level pack Community Chest 3 (requires an enhanced, Boom-compatible engine) as the BGM of levels 15 and 27 (both of which I designed.) The first is "Liberty Through Violence" (done in three days) and the second is "Inferno's March" (which I did earlier, in one day.) They're actually the fourth and third (respectively) MIDIs I've done, so... Heh. I need to update my website soon, and I'll put my MIDIs up when I do.

I can't get over how impossibly dorky Gomez looks in this game, especially when he's jumping. But then, the art in this game is crappy in general, so I guess that was unavoidable. Nevertheless, it seems well-played, and it certainly entertained me, although I particularly liked how you jumped right past those two guys to Morticia in the final room, and the game went right to the ending while ignoring Gomez's death. Yes vote, for a nice improvement to a good run (of a bad game. ;) )

...Whoa. The way you warped all over the castle even moreso than before... the camera angles chosen this time around, including the one that follows Mario into the second Bowser fight... the way you managed to shoot past the Dire Dire Docks portal, thus allowing you to beat the game with no stars whatsoever... ...There's no way I'm saying No to this. At all. Obvious Yes vote. Congratulations on the run! This game is now completely broken.

It refused to play when I tried to play it in WinAmp 5. When I checked it out in a hex editor, my suspicions were confirmed: This movie suffers from exactly the same error as ccfreak2k's .AVI for xipo's Adventures of Bayou Billy TAS (encoded with joint stereo instead of mono.) To fix it, open it in a hex editor and change entry 0x12a from 02 to 01.
