This is my first TAS. So I would appreciate some feedback, it is not meant to be fast. I hope it's at least somewhat entertaining.
It looks like a casual playthrough. It's entertaining for a speedrun, but not for a TAS. It just doesn't looks superhuman. By the way, I also got the impression that you're learning the basics. I advice to learn using TAS Editor. If you have troubles, you can read the manual here: http://www.fceux.com/web/help/taseditor/ Keep it up.

Please reconsider this. I appreciate much your TASes and your work in general, and the extra efforts you put for this movie are clear. And I'm sure that there are a lot of people here that think the same.

I have to be honest with all of you. At the beginning this TAS wasn't supposed to be submitted on the site, it was a first Valentine's fool to make some love on this amazing site :D. For me, this TAS wasn't "serious" anymore even if I made the best as I can on (I could do better as well). But the community wants it to be published and she is interrested by my baby so I let you all, judges and the community, decide its future <3.
Look, I apprecciate the effort and the thought behind this run, but it's just very repetitive and arbitrary. I have no give a strong No vote.

Use TAS Editor to create movies. After you open the ROM file, go on "Tools" > "TAS Editor..." Please try to make a fast TAS before posting another video.

I'd like to hear the reasons behind the Meh and the No vote, since my opinion is different. I think that this movie is very entertaining and provides enough different content compared to the any% movie.

Actually... No, according to the Movie Class Guidelines:

I know this submission is probably going to go in Moons as a separate branch, but for Vaulting purposes (if the entertainment votes ever dropped low enough to put it there) would that mean this submission would obsolete the current submission with Donkey Kong?
This run starts from SRAM, and thus can't be applied for Vault.

Well done again, Yes vote! Looks like the suboptimal character is actually Donkey Kong; in fact all time trial records required to beat are longer for him... I guess that the reason why Kiddy Kong turns out slower in RTA is just because it's harder to use. By the way, I've changed the branch name to "Diddy Mode", since that's how the game itself refers to this unlockable.

I actually started out with the PS1 version and would say that the difference in difficulty is very minimal. But if you finish all five different paths you can unlock higher difficulties in the options.
There are two PS1 versions, Japan and US. Only US features higher difficulty, according to this site: http://hg101.kontek.net/smirage/smirage.htm

However, when it was localized into English, there were a number of gameplay changes implemented by Working Designs, the American publisher. Working Designs was known to tinker with gameplay elements, usually to make them more difficult, but they really went overboard with this one. The very essence of the power draining mechanics have changed. Previously, you could use any of the weapons as much as you wanted - now, all weapons drain spirit power as you use them. To make up for this, when you attack enemies with the same class, you'll replenish your own Spirit meter in addition to depleting theirs. This is actually really useful in certain boss battles when your spirit is depleted, since you can just suck the strength back out of them. Additionally, some of the weapons in the Japanese version were pretty unbalanced, and this seems to be a way to keep players from abusing the more powerful attacks. Ultimately, however, the changes do more harm than good. Most of the weapons drain way too much power to be useful. It also pretty much forces you to drain every enemy before killing them, and potentially you can expend more energy than you replenish. It also forces you to use the weakest weapons in most cases, since that usually expends the least amount of Spirit. Quite simply, the game is already complicated enough trying to deal with the different classes - keeping track of ammo conservation just isn't fun. Furthermore, Working Designs upped the difficulty by increasing the damage inflicted by enemies, as well as making all of the items in the shops more expensive. The latter solves nothing - having to stop and cash bash enemies to be able afford upgraded weapons and health replenishments was already somewhat tedious in the Japanese release, but this just makes everything worse.
Also, on tcrf.net is said that the Saturn version has a hidden difficulty option: https://tcrf.net/Silhouette_Mirage_(Sega_Saturn)

The only good idea that comes to mind is to wait (and hope) for dual emulation with trades to become a thing, which would allow to make a catch 'em all run like this one: [3134] GB Pokémon: Blue and Red Version "Coop Diploma" by MrWint in 3:48:04.10

Let's reassume:
  • The first 45 minutes of gameplay are already featured in other branches.
  • The abuses of void glitch and the Battle Tower are especially boring.
  • Glitching defeates the purpose of showing more game content.
  • Why not doing Platinum, since it features Battle Frontier and thus more bosses?
  • Legendary Pokémon also feature a different music, so why not counting them as bosses?
I'm sorry but I have to give a strong No vote.

I happen to be very familiar with this game, and there is a detail in your run that has come to my attention...

It's possible to shoot a single enemy multiple times, but is unnecessary.
Are you sure? Because you also said:
DrD2k9 wrote:
As death animation varies on where they the enemy is hit, some deaths are faster than others.
You see, shooting a single enemy multiple times can cause two death animations that are otherwise never seen: shooting an enemy twice makes his death slower, but shooting him trice makes his death much faster. This trick can be seen in a TAS on Nicovideo, a TAS on YouTube, and even in the RTA WR. And here is the proof: User movie #45050134583604789 I've saved 211 frames (3.43 ingame seconds) over your submitted run in the first area alone.

I hope you don't mind about the fact that I had to drop the "all items" part, it's mainly for the sake of avoiding redaundancy. However, I'm still open to hear opinions about the full completion branch name. I think that "all gold trophies" is the best choice because it's very intuitive, instead of something like "all 1st places" or plain "100%". I don't even consider "maximum points", because that would cause confusion since the game has also a scoring system. Edit:

Dang.... toward the end, (level 48) even looks difficult for a TAS-racer to win them! I'm wondering if they put level 48 in there as the "kill screen" for this game, thinking no one would beat it.

Or maybe a wiki page. I think it would be better to keep this idea as an unofficial thing, like Gruefood Delight where you can find the best April Fools submissions.

It depends on the game and on the goal. It's good to avoid glitches if the game allows for varied and complex tricks without breaking the game. It's also important to avoid glitches for special goals that allow to show more of the game compared to any% or 100%. Edit: here is a clear example: [3134] GB Pokémon: Blue and Red Version "Coop Diploma" by MrWint in 3:48:04.10

I apologize for not posting my encode, but Spikestuff posted one of the same quality before mine was finished to be encoded. My PC is 12 years old. Also, I've dumped it with FCEUX 2.2.3 (it synced from start to end) but it features the same graphical problem that Spikestuff pointed out.

I found this movie to be very boring. No vote. There are literally no tricks, nothing interesting happening on there. Also, it doesn't help that the game itself is very plain.

I'm not picking Marvel x Capcom, because its rating is lower than any of the above.
I disagree. The Mortal Kombat run is confusing and doesn't explain well what a TAS is; I instead find the Super Smash Bros run much more appropriate.

I have to report that the encode currently used for the publication continues far after the credits ended. I think it should probably be replaced.

I'm going to knack on the judgement here. I told you ThunderAxe to be careful with this submission. You didn't take my warning to heart at all.
Despite wasting a total of about 15 seconds between fight transitions, I still think this submission is worth of Vault, for two reasons: First, optimizing menuing is a marginal factor that doesn't consist in actual TASing. Second, the Millenniummon fight, which is the only speedrunnable part of the game, is clearly superhuman, and even if we add these 15 seconds to it, for a total of 44 seconds, it still beats all known RTA records, and in my opinion is also still impossible to match in real time attempts. However, I apprecciate your contribution and if you submit a movie with an improved Millenniummon fight I will have to reject grassini's submission, since in such eventuality it would not beat all known records anymore. Edit: Turns out the arguments I brought above are invalid for this case, since for this game there is really little room for saving time over a whole play.

Asking for any ROM sites is clearly forbidden by our rules. If you have problems with garbage software, you should simply avoid any site that gives you exe files instead of archives (zip, rar, 7z, etc).
