I made a TAS of this several years ago for fun during ESA, not with the goal of fully optimising it. While I don't have the input file anymore, it is up on YouTube. Link to video One thing I noticed at once was that you didn't get a triple for the very first three pringles. Another one is at about 1:26, where could get all 4 in a row. I remember when TASing the part at 2:31, I tested that it would be faster to get all three up there in a row, rather than grabbing the top one later. Not sure if you got a different result? Other than those; tricky to compare frame count between our runs =). Also: "if you find any improvements, I'll add you as a co-author." Please don't for me in any case.

Another way you can do it is to lure the Hammer Brother to the left of the Fort and pick up the Fire Flower from there. As you can pick it up at the very end of the fight without getting the 1000 points. Though you'll still get the 100 points from killing the HB, which is the same you get for beating 1-5 and 1-6 anyway, but it will be a lot faster =). Clever use to go into the door to skip the points from the coin block in 8-F!

Just finished a TAS where every level is beaten with the Boot. Some levels are however impossible to beat for various reasons, and are therefore skipped. I had to cheat and take a hit in 2-Pyramid, as I could otherwise not process the game at all. This is the only case where this occured. Link to video

I'm well aware that the JP version is faster. Though same reason why it wasn't used for the SNES version: Rules didn't use to allow JP version if the only reason was text related and not gameplay. For SNES it's faster for both, but it wasn't known about all the JP 1.0 only glitches. I'll have a look at this later. Edit: Actually, no, I don't care. Do whatever, no need to add me as an author.

As there have been a lot of new Home Alone TASes lately... I just wanted to step in here and say that a new version of this TAS is being worked on.

Going to revive this as I'm about to start TASing a DSi game: Four Swords: Anniversary Edition. Before I go too far into it, the issues that Greenalink brought up still have no solution as far as I know. The JP version is the fastest, but I've been unable, thus far, to find official firmware for it and it will currently boot up like this: https://imgur.com/a/PIs7yR9 loading the ROM still works fine. I have a working setup for the US version, which I do not plan to continue with as it will be slower. So far with my testings, nothing I've ever done in the DSi menus, changing the time or whatever, have had any affect on the game. Thus my plan right now is to continue TASing on the JP version, despite it having a bad menu, and then just copy paste the inputs to a movie file that, in the future, will be a submittable when guidelines have been made.

It's indeed not very well optimised. Starting off, you could save 24 frames on the map screen before the first level. Here's a quick test I did for the level, which beats this by 1224 frames, and can be improved further: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638041291691317238

I'm requesting that the non-ACE run of A Link to the Past would be its own category: http://tasvideos.org/2449M.html

And well over a year later... After that above video, I kept going forward but ran into lots of RNG issues and eventually lost TASing interest in general. Then some new things were found, forcing me to do redo from before entering the mountain area. I kept going until I reach the start of the second dungeon, until a dumb mistake of me standing still for 30 frames was found at the beginning of the mountain. So I redid again and has now finally made it to the second dungeon once again. 179 frames ahead of the last WIP.

Let's answer that two years later :D. No, it takes too long to run and turn around for it to save any time, too short of a distance. In other news: I finally got around to finish this run! Submission should come sometimes next week.

Riolku already posted his any% and Warpless versions... But long overdue, here is now my 100% TAS of the hack Mini Kaizo Bros. 3. This is not made for perfection, many earlier levels are for example faster in Riolku's warpless TAS. Link to video

There has been a lot of stuff going on in the RTA scene for Seasons, the TAS is long obsolete, really.

Wow! So many small and HUGE changes compared to the SNES version. Very fast-paced in every way, in comparision, three autoscrollers gone as well! 5-1 was a complete mess to follow, especially since I don't know the mechanics of the Genesis version. I feel the pain about 6-1/6-2, very hard to optimise on SNES as well, and it also took me maaaany hours to finish. I'm very surprised that you can't shoot diagonally here, hmm... I should take a closer look at this version one day. Was fun to see!
