Can the Four Swords multiplayer segment be done yet?
Sadly, it can't. Neither the GBA version or the DSi-ware version of Four Swords is TASable at the moment, which is very sad :(. I could pay to be able to TAS it. Thanks for your comments everyone!

Well, it's basically just luck. There is however a method real time runners use in order to make her always drop a potion as well as getting 100 rupee from the ground: www.twitch.tv/theonly0/b/323923881?t=23m40s For this place, the RNG only changes a bit on the title screen, when you slash with the sword, dig and move to a different screen. TheOnly0 did a lot of testings and found a method for a 100% chance of getting the item he wants. A similar method to this can be used in order to get a specific ring or the Heart Piece. Though I have never researched anything on the matter. But other than that, no, there is nothing to do. SBD: Very useful info there with the subpixel stuff. I kinda knew there was something like that going on in the game, because of how annoying diagonal movement was. But I guess I failed to find the right address for it. For the Satchel upgrade, so Tingle will give it to you if you have 3 seeds? Didn't know that and I must have missed it in your run (If you did it...). If it is possible to get it from Tingle during the first visit, it might be worth it. Otherwise I planned to skip the upgrade completely. Good notes about the route stuff as well. I'll do some more testings to see what the best alternative may be.

Wouldn't it be faster to upgrade the axe armor soul more in the beginning in order to make it stronger? Or wasn't it faster? Great WIP anyway, looking forward to more pie.

Heh, that old WIP with the awful sound effects :D. It can be improved a lot with lag reducing, something I wasn't looking at back when it was created. Very nice that someone else wants to run these games, Link_7777! I believe that run is for the first SSW game? I would love to see it, despite not being optimised.

I also want to know why you can't get through those walls. I haven't been able to at least, but I would love to see it being done.

The levels you can't be finished without B are: 2-Pyramid: Have to destroy the blocks which requires either B for the tail of B to carry a shell, can't glitch through. 6-5: Though not needed to beat, it can't be finished without flying and use B. 7-Fort 1: Can be skipped with a cloud, impossible ti beat without flying. 7-9: Can be skipped with cloud. Need to pick up blocks or glitch through wall. *7-F2. Doable, but you'll need a leaf. And you an skip it with a cloud. I don't think I've missed any at least. So the only level you can't get past is the Pyramid, as there are no clouds up to world 2.

It's impossible to beat the game without the B button. For a warped run you can beat the game if you use B to use items with from the inventory. Though no way to beat it warpless. There was an old TAS who started and ended all levels as small Mario, though upgrades were allowed to be taken within the level. A warped run can be done if you get the second flute in World 2. Though warpless is impossible because of 7-Fort 1.

European version faster...? Is there a comparision for that too or did you mean to write American version?

I noticed that glitched underwater area as well. I did however forget that you can use the harp to deactivate the glitch so you can hookshot the darknut, very clever. Hmm, I didn't actually know that the game had subpixel detection. Very interesting though. Do you have the memory address for it? Also, here's a rough route that I have made: http://pastebin.com/jajJnRcw Ideas on improvements?

It can be improved with a lot more than those five frames Yuzu pointed out, like 5 seconds or so. We have just been lazy finishing it as our (At least my) focus is on the SNES run as of now.

1. Yeah, I know about this. Hasn't really got any uses in an ALttP TAS however. In Parallel Worlds you have to use this to progress in the game. 2. That's very weird, didn't know that actually. Interesting by kinda pointless =). 3. I've known that for a long time. While it has potential in making a nice puzzle in a hack, there is only one place in ALttP where you can even hit a switch through a block like that, and that's the one you showed a pic of. Unless I have overlooked something. It will also be slower to use it there, the new TAS I'm working on will also use the boomerang instead of the cane. I tried to use it in the TAS at the end of Misery Mire to hit a switch, before going up the stairs to the boss, but it couldn't be done there. I haven't checked in any of the romhacks though, so it might have a use there. 4. This can be done without a cape as well, as long as you have taken a hit before. I used this in my Parallel Worlds TAS/speedrun, quite a lot of places where it can save time in PW. In ALttP it can be done at two places iirc, both very useless however. 5. Well, I kinda doubt that you are alone in knowing it to be honest :). Though if it is something possibly useful for a speedrun/TAS, I would love to hear about it. If you feel like sharing you can PM me.

You are certainly not stupid because of the like like or the key skip method. You are a genius for finding these things! I'll start testing with the bomb cutscenes tomorrow, should hopefully come to some conclusion on what to do with the run. The bossfight was the miniboss in my TAS that you improved. Have you found anything this awesome in Seasons as well? As I would be insanely interested in knowing :D!

Alright. First off, for the textwarping. My current route involves doing that directly after getting the Harp. While a S&Q (Great that you figured out how that works, I was previously clueless) will indeed put me inside the wall, I can still let the Like Like grab me, which will also be faster than to use a S&Q anyway. Planned route: Harp -> Warp -> Dance -> Bombs (There's a chest you can reach with pitwalking) -> Pegasus Seeds -> Bombflower -> Back to dungeon 2. This skips visiting the Mystery Seed tree (You'll recieve them at Crescent Island anyway). However, I don't know how this affect the Ambi's Palace cutscenes, if you are still able to the same glitch as you did. As I assume I still would have to watch the cutscene where you recieve the bombs first anyway? I don't know, will test :D. Another location for Maple that I thought of, is when you have to use the switch hook on the seed in the mountain, before the mine cart minigame. Might be faster, unsure. Nevet thought of doing D5 before D4 either. Saves a timewarp and the Cane could be used nicely in the dungeon. And for the D5 key skip, here is a method to do it without the Peace Ring: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/237507190/D5KeySkip.vbm One of the biggest surprises in the run was the shortcut to the Zora's Village. I really didn't think it could be used in more places. Are there any others as well? Maybe in Seasons, hmm. I need to check :D. Also nice that you improved that bossfight! I'll hopefully get back to this run soon, now with all the new stuff to work with as well. So thanks a lot for sharing your work, highly appreciated!!

I'm unable to change the controller settings for Autofire Joypads for the SNES. First an error message, then everything is blank. Having a hotkey option for Autofire (Such as it is for Autohold right now) would be prefered to me anyway. Even though both wouldn't hurt I suppose =).

Did a test of the fight, improved it by 74 frames: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1623815005/1OoALinkedTAS.vbm However, more stuff in that WIP has to be redone, as I need better manipulation for item drops from bushes, which is what I recently have been working on with this run. And my TAS focus is currently on A Link to the Past, so this is right now on hold more or less.

When you need to press a button at the earliest frame in a menu for example, never turbo the A button like that, as it means you can lose one frame. Instead try to press it for one frame at the earliest time. Also, when you go through text conversations, it's best if you turbo A and B, so that you can press a button for every frame instead of every seconds, speeds up the text a lot. Each time you did, if you slash your sword to cancel the digging you save 1 frame. Enemy manipulation is one of the hardest parts in TASing the Oracles. You'll have to try to add extra slashes and such in order to get the enemies in better locations. Don't just go with what you get on attempt 1, but try to improve it many many times. Here's a WIP of a linked Oracle of Ages TAS that I'm currently working on (Swordless will join the project later on): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1236917677/OoALinkedTAS.vbm

All enemies that drop items drop them in a specific order, all explained here: http://notesmash.org/krystal/alttp/prizepacks.png So as you guessed: I killed it to be able to get arrow drops later on. In the old run I also wasted time in order to get a 8 bomb drop in Palace of Darkness. Which I won't be able to do this time because of a chance in the route. I also try to manipulate magic or heart drops to shorten the refill time after the boss.

You can skip fighting Lanmolas and Moldorm and still beat the game, by using the Death Mountain Descent glitch. I just want all dungeons to be completed in this run, so I beat those bosses anyway even though it isn't needed.

Getting the first pendant is neccesary to get the Pegasus Boots. But the other two are only to get the Master Sword. I'll skip the MS but still beat all dungeons. For the swords you are able to upgrade the Lvl 1 sword to the Tempered. But to get the Golden Sword you have to throw in the Tempered one. Neither Uncle's Sword or the Master Sword will work for this.

The JP glitches I'll be using aren't really new to be honest. The main one is skipping half of Turtle Rock, whcih will save a lot of time in a run. There are also some glitches that involve using the boots + an item on the same frame, which can give you various effects. For the text part, it saves about 6073 frames (+- 10) in this category having Japanese text. EDIT: Just got a PM that pointed out a most retarded mistake made in the WIP, I'm the one who should be punished. In Desert Palace, 11:40 in the run, I switched to the Lamp. The reason why I switched there was to manipulate the enemy in the next room, which you can also manipulate by delaying a few frames. The thing is... In this TAS, I won't need the Lamp yet, as the second part of the dungeon won't be finished until later. So that item switch was plain stupid and unneccesary. I'm redoing the run from that point at once.
