That looked very nice! 179 frames faster than your previous run is a neat improvement. Good stuff :)!

Time for some more improvements :). The biggest timesaver is what Specter just wrote about. I think it is something like 400 frames faster than it was in your run. It is not perfect though. I had a better angle, in my testrun, down into the hole with the barrel that blasts you up, and Specter didn't care to enter the barrel fast at the start, so that's another 3 frames at least. I do have two other things I noticed while watching: During the first King K Rool (Even though his name is Baron something in this game, but I don't care:D) fight, if you take some more distance when doing the roll to the coin, you'll get some more speed, falling more to the left so the cutscene can start earlier. I made it 14 frames faster. SMV The second bonus in Criss Kross Cliffs. I changed the strategy in that bonus to save 83 frames. The last time I did the bonus I used a teamthrow strategy to hit the enemies from distance, I didn't experience with that now however, it is somewhat close in time so if perfected, it could be faster. SMV

Finally done with the first dungeon after a break from the game. VBM Youtube I'm currently 1443 frames ahead.

I'm curious to why you fixed the improvement in the second bonus of Bobbing Barrel Brawl, but not the other things mentioned, hmm. I also tried the bonus in Kreeping Klasps that I mentioned. I have managed to get into the bonus 10 frames faster using the method I mentioned. Just jump down in the water as late as possible, fall down the water a little and swim up to avoid the fish and enter the bonus. This is what I made it look like. I did get 8 frames of lag however, some of it can probably be avoided to save even more time. More stuff: It's possible to be closer to the exit in the first bonus in Krevice Keepers, by jumping down as far to the right as you can and turn around quickly to grab the coin. 3 frames (Possibly more) faster. Ok, this improvement is actually quite major... I thought you only took the slow path because it would be easier in the testrun. In Barrel Drop Bounce, when you getting the koin, if you take the steel barrel and jump down to the left instead of going to the right, you'll be able to save over 100 frames. My quick test got me 101 frames faster, but there's more than that to save. First bonus in Lemguin Lunge, you can roll into the last penguin that jump up from the hole. Saving you 6 frames. Creepy Caverns. After you get Squitter you jumped into a barrel later on. If you wait a bit on the web before you jump, you can use another web to skip the barrel. Saving you around 30 frames. I managed to save about 10 frames at the Koin Lightning Look-Out, but I'm unable to keep them because of the lightning being in the way :/. It involved letting the lightning hit the bird with the barrel instead of jumping on it. If the bird turns around before the lightning hits it, the barrel will fall on its right side instead of left. Good going with the run, good luck with the last world.

Well, I do know of some minor improvements in the warpless run. Stuff that I was unable to hex in without losing everything, and more, that I had earned. Involved killing the hammer brothers faster. When you have the fire flower you obviously use that one to kill them as you'll kill them faster. But when you do, the HB goes up in the air a little bit before it falls down. And the level doesn't end until the HB's and their hammers are out from the screen. So what you do instead, is to jump on them and they'll fall faster. So keep that in mind if you try to improve the run, mmarks. Good luck with the project, TASing this game is fun :).

I personally find maps and compasses to be kinda lame in 100% definitions. As I think that it should be stuff that are worth getting, stuff that will make your character stronger/better. And I don't think that you should need to get both the upgraded and the nonupgraded items in this case. As when the upgraded item is obtained, there's no way to see that you have the lvl 1 item anymore. Also the fact that the blue ring and candle can still "be obtained" whenever you want.

Looks good. Evil Tompa will just point out a few improvements. In Springin' Spiders, when you sacrifice Dixie, if you hold B when you get the control of Kiddy, you'll hit the ceiling. This will give you some more speed and reach the bonus barrel four frames earlier. The next is the second bonus in Bobbing Barrel Brawl. If you jump and press A two frames later, you'll pick up Dixie on your sholder, but you'll be slightly higher up so that you can grab the coin without jumping afterward. This saves 3 frames at this place. The same trick can also be done when switching characters in case you want to be higher up. Experience with this =). If you grab the patch from Arich while you are falling, instead of when you are jumping, you'll save one frame. And you could have better positioning to save another 4 frames, for a total of 5. The second bonus in Kreeping Klasps can be entered faster if you down into the water instead of the path you took into the barrel. Saved around 6-7 frames I believe. But considering that you have both Kongs, as you have to wait for one of them, it might be a longer wait time from the water, not sure. As the game isn't the hexfriendly, I don't expect you to fix these things, but I'm mentioning anyway. Very nice WIP so far! Keep it up.

I got a bit suspicious when I saw the turboing A in the start menus. This caused you to lose 37 frames instead of pressing the A button when you needed to. Here's the version I just made: Linkylink And you could most likely save some more time the other places in the run were turbo was used the same way. So I suggest that you fix these mistakes. Very nice way of beating the game though!

Ehum... I thought you were working on the title screen already, Cardboard? I guess I'll just have to do it myself *sigh*.

It was way too repetetive for me to be enjoyable enough. Most of the things were also too predictable to me. With nearly all holes as well as walls/pipes in the way, the same moves are used. And we don't really need a published movie for every possible goal. Super Metroid syndrome. This would fit better as a April 1st submission instead. Voting no.

This route was posted in February this year and I believe that some things have changed in it since then. http://www.mediafire.com/?qdk1t9kvidi0bsm And to watch a vbm file, you'll need to download VBA emulator with rerecording features. The latest version can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/vba-rerecording/downloads/list Then you need to find the rom that was used for the run, you'll have to find this one yourself. Open the rom in the emulator and then you load the movie file.

http://zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?game=oot There you'll get some explanations and videos how to do most tricks in the game. The page isn't currently up to date, but most things are still there.

1. Kinda useless really... There are only warps in the two first worlds. And all of them won't even be used, as it's slower in a 105% run. 2. Persons who know the game probably knows some of the map. And you can turn off the transperency effects (Even though this shows an ugly sideeffect...) to get some light to the level. I just don't think it adds anything really entertaining to be able to see more of the level like that.

I don't find the DKC ending to be any entertaining really, I would have redone it if people had complained. But I can't say that the SM64 ending is any more entertaining. And if you had to redo the run in order to save one (ended up with two though) frame, then I really don't understand why you didn't end it as fast as possible. As you clearly want it to be 100% perfect. Which I still doubt that it is.

And the testrun is very unoptimised at a few places. I didn't even care to mention some obvious stuff because of it. So yeah, if he was going to submit the testrun, it would be rejected at once. Dooty: You shouldn't keep me among the authors though, as I didn't contribute anything to your testrun and I haven't really had any plans to do so either, in case you want me to =P.

Nice five years old bump :). The best console run to my knowledge is the SDA run that is 00:43 on the in game timer for 101%. http://speeddemosarchive.com/DonkeyKongCountry.html Tjp, the guy having the other two times there, is going to beat it however and is aiming to get 00:41 or lower. It does seem like you are looking for a TAS instead, in that case you should be looking here: Any%: http://tasvideos.org/1644M.html 101%: http://tasvideos.org/522M.html The 101% run is very improveable, but I have been having problems with that run so it will take awhile before I finish it.

While recording, if you make a save state at frame 10 and on that frame you press up+B. The next time you load that save state, it shows a blank input display. With svn 232, you are able to see what input you made for that frame.

With svn 232, if you load a save state you could see which input you made for that frame. That something I really wish could still be there with later versions. But Klmz thought of it as a bug (Probably was, I don't know) and removed it. What harm would it do if it still was there? As I prefer to just stick with 232 because of it.

Alaktorn: I'm actually three frames faster into the first bonus. The in game timer is really crappy. Let's take some frames before entering the bonus: Frame 1: 14:82 (On the in game timer) Frame 2: 14:83 Frame 3: 14:84 Frame 4: 14:85 Frame 5: 14:96 (Where I enter the bonus) Frame 6: 14:97 Frame 7: 14:90 Frame 8: 14:91 (Where was0x enters the bonus) Also, download the SNES9X 1.43 version I posted on the previous page, it's version 17 and you'll be able to play the movie using that one.

Haha, really nice method there! Certainly nothing I thought about. So you have to destroy the DK barrel in order to make it, or can you just take damage? If you need the DK barrel, it won't even be possible to do considering that all (most) DK-barrels are removed with the TUFST code. But still, nicely done! This game need more useful glitches.

Yeah, I watched and commented on that (I'm Tomtelala). As soon as you bump into such door, you are pushed to the other side. But with the cheat he was using, he was pushed to the right instead. If you are carrying a partner, the push to the left isn't as far, but it still isn't enough to be pushed once more in the same jump and certainly not going to the right. So I doubt it is possible. But I would certainly be happy if someone found a way to do it!

Well, sorry... Didn't mean to be rude or anything. And if you think it's hard and confusing to use the emulators, just read on the site how to or ask about it :). A .smv file is the movie file for SNES. In this case you can see the emulator version by checking the link I posted. On the top it says "(Snes9X Movie -- v1.43(-WIP". The 1.43 is the SNES9X version used. And it can be found here. To load the movie, you first open the emulator and then load the rom, which you'll have to find yourself. Rom version is U 1.0. When you have loaded the rom, you go to File -> Movie -> Play Movie... Find the movie and play it. If it says that the rom versions, the rom the movie used and the rom you are using, mismatch, you are most likely using the wrong version. And yeah, I can agree it's easier to just watch an encode. But people don't feel like encoding every single emulator movie out there. So it is a good thing to learn how to play them through an emulator anyway.

My run was only meant to get the fastest time possible, not 100% the level. And it's faster to enter the bonuses than to not to. Specter: Yeah, the timer makes no sense... Stupid programming that one. I don't remember if I delayed anything in my run though.
