No worries. I belive I asked the same kinds of question when I first came to this place. And I surely did a lot of ass movies back then... Practice makes perfect!

Well... not really I'm afraid. You shall aim for perfection. And this isn't really frame advance played. During all text sequences you shall turbo A and B. Press A one frame and B the other. Not just tapping A "randomly", as that's not the fastest way. If you shall try to start a new run of a game you shall check the current videos of it. And you aren't even close to the same frame number... OoA and OoS are a bitch to TAS sometimes, because of manipulation. And I'm unsure that you can handle that. And me and Soulrivers are already working on an Oracle of Seasons TAS and Swordless is doing Ages. But I won't stop you from trying at least :). Also, I told before how to do the pitwalk. Didn't included that you have to be in the middle of two holes though... There's an option in VBA that says "Read only". If you play a movie and load a save state, while "Read only" is marked, you will fast forward/rewind to the frame where that save state is made. If it isn't marked, you will rerecord from there. That's how you can continue recording a movie afterwards.

Dez's WIP is outdated, but it reached further than the one Soulrivers and I posted awhile ago, which went up to dungeon 2. And then SwordlessLink found some improvements in the beginning of the game so we decided to redo again and are now stuck in level 1 because of manipulation. You should play with frame advance during the whole run. Read the FAQ to learn more. Also, when you are posting WIPs, please do it with Microstorage instead. You can check the input in VBA to see how to do the pitwalk. If you are going left/right you need to press something like this: Hold left all the time. Press Up, only left, down, only left, up, only left, down, only left. etc.

You have the save the shinespark for a "few" rooms, starting far to the right. But it sure is possible :).

Saturn: I agree that it is more fun, sometimes at least, to not spoil tricks and such used in a new run. But this is getting ridiculous now. I think you shall drop the prideness a bit :/. When I read your post in your CT submission topic, that there's no need to even look for improvements in the run, as there aren't any left to find; I became a bit upset to be honest. You can never know if a movie is perfect or not. It has been said a lot of times to the SMB run, but has been proved wrong... You are doing great TASes, but nothing is perfect, as Moozooh just proved for this game.

Bah, who cares about routes. Just create a run that is awesome. And I sincerely hope you atleast got some experience concerning 100% SMR.
Well... In order to make an awesome run, you need an awesome route. Or else you will have to redo all the time once you found a way that's faster.

SNES and GBX games. Mupen desynchs WAY TOO MUCH. I'm not familiar with any Genesis/SMS games. There are some things I dislike with FCEU. Like... you can't see when the movie you are watching ends, only how many frames that have been played so far.

I was the first one to give all these at least one serious attempt each. But they were terrible with both SNES9X 1.43 and 1.51. With the new version of SNES9X it will be possible to run these games without any major errors, at least not what I've found so far. But some of the sound effects are out of order. Maybe only the coin sound effect, not sure... That sound is wrong in all three games, which seems a bit suspicious if you ask me. Anyway, when the beta version is done I'm going to start running Return of th Jedi and maybe helping Phunqy out with Empire Strikes Back. BoltR has promised that he will do the first one in the serie as soon as the sound effect errors have been fixed.

They have got A LOT of money. Which surely is a good thing. It's actually quite amusing to watch them playing. Even if they don't show much speedrun skill. I told them to skip Temple of Time in Twilight Princess. But they said they wanted to make it legal...

If so it should be Second Quest only. And I really doubt that Swordless would like to redo all what he has done ;D.

There aren't really a lot of things that differ. Most of the run will be the exact same thing, only longer. And that isn't enough, at least I don't think so, to have it's own catergory. Someone can do one and submit it "just for fun". But I doubt it will be published.

Here's a trick I found during my recent playthrough. It saves some time in the sunken continent. There are probably more places where this could be useful, but nothing that I can come up with atm. I also wonder how many that has started a run but cancelled for one reason or another... I belive the list is quite big :/.

I just tried to record the first level of Super Return of the Jedi, and it worked out perfectly compared to 1.43 and 1.51. Didn't get a single desynch, awesome. The sound effects are still out of order. Specially the coins, I think that's the only error actually. Go go go!

I haven't played the GBA version much either, because it sucks. I don't know much about it either, like the differences compared to the SNES version, what glitches there are etc.

Also, when you have done a level in a game which causes a desync in the previous level. It really makes no sense and is confusing...

"Hurray, half of the run is done which has been in progress for 7 months, a new trick was found. Time to restart!" ... Also, when there are like 10+ ways to do something, and you have to test everyone to come up which one is the fastest. So something like Brushy said I guess.

Haha, good one Omnipotent :D. Well, if you work with Seasons along with us, that means less time for OoT and OoA, and I want to see those runs :). So it's maybe better to do this for ourselves.

Swordless, Soulrivers and I have restarted Oracle of Seasons because we found some improvements in it=P. Swordless has been distracted with Ocarina of Time, hopefully he will continue though =P.

Really? It's tempting to earn some money. And why did you kill that many enemies? If it should be a speedrun, then wasting time to kill enemies to get useless XP, isn't a good thing...
