As for the "content": Everything within the game is part of its content. Dungeons, enemies, bushes, chests, mountains and so on, whatever it may be. To me this isn't even a matter of opinions, it's just fact that it's content within the game. So yes, items are clearly content to the game. Even with all 100% runs for all games, you never do everything within the game and you usually don't obtain everything you can either. I've never heard of such category where you do everything you possibly can to fully show/do the game's "content". For ALttP 100%, this is the "Glitched" category, where you may use what the game has to offer to accomplish the 100% definition. This will clearly skip parts of the game, yes, because that's what you are supposed to do in a speedrun in general: Accomplish the goal, skip anything that you don't need or is slower to do. You'll see that the 100% record for "No Major Glitches" also skips a lot of content: https://www.speedrun.com/alttp/run/8y8p2k1z But yes, dungeons and bosses are part of the content, you are correct.

I do poke fun of some of the ALTTP community's category names (saving + quitting being banned in "No Major Glitches" is undeniably amusing)
This is another "leftover" from the SDA days. S&Q warping was disallowed for runs originally and wasn't even allowed in segmented runs. When ALttP moved from SDA, all the old rules were kept and only minor modifications were made, until all the new categories were created.

The origin of the 100% definition: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/link_to_the_past_100.html Also further talked about here: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/100_a_link_to_the_past.html Radix was the owner of SDA and he often decided the rules for certain categories, such as the definition of 100% for this game. After that, people simply stuck to it.

Well you were pretty much the only challenger I feared. I don't blame you though. This game isn't bad but it's terribly unremarkable.
It had nothing at all to do with the game choice or DTC in general.

Might as well... Link to video Using a cheat code to always have the Kuribo's Shoe. This is a terribly made TAS, both optimisation and entertainment wise. I just wanted to give this fake category a more serious attempt than I did with just doing 1-1 awhile back. Probably won't continue, we'll see.

I've been following the "cheating" discussions in speedrunning for many years, and given many example of ways of cheating that you can't detect, even if you are sitting next to the person playing the game. There simply isn't a way to prevent everything no matter the verification method. This is where TASes are superior, as they are impossible to cheat, as the input file is provided and has to sync through. But yeah, there isn't really much to do about this...

Many months ago, I was asked by the ALttP speedrunning community to do some kind of commentary stream on my old 1:16:11 TAS... In case someone is interested, I'll do this next Monday at 2PM Eastern, I'll stream it together with BluntBunny from the ALttP community, streaming it at http://twitch.tv/tompa/ Doing it around this time because it was 10 years (Technically in September...) since I started the TAS and also 10 years since I created by Twitch account. Anyway, just some random stuff I thought could be of interest.

I kinda took a break from it when I reached the ice boss. As it seems like the hitbox for him is different compared to Dooty's TAS, not sure. I couldn't be bothered to figure it out so I just worked on a different project meanwhile. If I copied the input from the start of the level, the boss works out fine. But I spawn him a lot earlier, which seems to mess up things. I'm unable to hit him as low as Dooty TAS. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/48788840194699193

A new clip was recently found in the level Be Prepared that would save a minute in a TAS. Can be seen here in the latest RTA WR: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/280175367?t=9m37s I currently don't have any plans to redo the TAS however, just posting here for general documentation if anyone wishes to improve it.

I would love to investigate more, but there is still no emulator with the neccesary tools to play this game. mGBA is planned to have support for this eventually, but it hasn't as of now. There's also the DSi-Ware version, but I don't think there is a way to emulate that at all? Otherwise I'll start working on this kind of research + an actual TAS, instantly.

Got a question about "There's video evidence that it's legit!" that. I'm very curious which video you are referring to, considering now such video was ever provided during the whole discussion/dispute about that.

I have a description for the Youtube video that explains this category in more detail. But no, I have yet not used the Y button. The only times it will be used is to pick up the barrels during the Queen B fight, as there is no way to beat her otherwise. Rambi has the same walking/running speed as the Kong mounting it, so you would only waste time by getting him.
