I have been thinking of a linked run as well. Not sure I will do one but... The idea is still up there:). EDIT: By the way. When you are digging, is it faster to slash with the sword just after every dig? I am sometimes doing this, but I don't know if it's really faster. Is it? And also: Is it faster to fly than walk with moosh? Another thing I haven't cared to try :D.

The ring is ALWAYS in the chest in the hidden room in dungeon 1. You did, however, say that there was a Power Ring lvl 2 in a chest in Oracle of Seasons dungeon 1, which happens to be a discovery ring...

At least everyone from SDA knows about this run, as it's being discussed there. It is not finished yet though. If someone will take the challenge to make a TAS of it, that would be interesting...

In my Speedrun, and also the testrun, I am taking the Power Ring lvl 1 from dungeon 1. I'm quite sure that this one will save time. Because many bosses can be killed in less cycles than before. Quite a lot actually. But to manipulate Maple to drop Power Ring Lvl 2 instead would save a lot more time, both because it is stronger but also because you don't need to take the small detour to get the Power Ring lvl 1. And as you have to meet Maple to get the Magic Potion, this won't take so much time at all. It takes around 20 second to appraise it at Vasu. And it will be a lot faster to have that ring indeed. It's free to appraise the ring as well so you don't need to get more rupees either... But I'm not so sure how hard it really is to manipulate Maple to drop it, sadly... But you shall indeed try! Someone of you.

OK, have watched both your runs. I guess it isn't faster to talk with the monkey once instead of the red bear. But I am always talking with the monkey, hehe. To Englishman: Same as what Chef said. To Chef: Ater obtaining the seeds, go right instead of down. That way is faster to the graveyard. Keep on trying to get rupees from enemies and bushes. You need to get 80 through the game: 10 for Tokay Island minigame. 20 for first Goron Dance. 10 for the "Train minigame". 20 for the "Slash with the sword to hit blue fairys and bla bla minigame." 20 for the second goron dance. I just came up with an idea... I wonder if it may be faster to do some pure luck manipulation and get the Whimsical Ring from Maple... It decreases your sword damage, but sometimes the hit is an instant kill. I'm not sure how this rings works because I have never equipped it. Does it work on bosses? Are the slashes random if the hit is an instant kill or not? If it is, you could use luck manipulation all the time to always get instant kills, hehe. Just an idea :D.

This looks really good. I'm not so good at the game so I have no tips I can offer for you, sadly=P. I wish you good luck though!

Post a new Wip every 5/10 minutes or similar. So you don't to remake too much if I find improvements.

I understood what you meant, just wrote my answer on a different way, hehe. Don't know how far you have reached yet, but there was a little bug in the beginning just before you get the sword. It doesn't save any time so if you are further than that just don't care. But if you press the Select button when Ralph is running away, you will still hear the music when you are talking to Impa. Regulary, as you know, that scene is silent. This is a bit pointless, but still:).

Oh, too bad:(. I hope that Vespa won't "cancel" the run as well, because I'm really looking forward to both these!

Going to be "hard" for me to post pics, as I don't know what tricks and so you are wondering about... =) I can't really post a pic of every trick in the whole run, sound a bit useless.

Ok, I will try to upload some pictures, if I have time. Because I have a game session this weekend so I won't be at the computer so much, nothing really. But I shall see if I can help you:). But it would help a lot if you could explain a little more about what you meant, which tricks you need screenshots on. Don't you understand my explanations? You have watched my testrun, haven't you? Most all is in there, except some small improvements... Shall I try to make a new testrun that has all the new tricks etc? Will take some time but, and I hardly want it either...

The darknut trick...? Ehum... You see everything in the movie. The entrance to the room is just below. Just go up and close to the darknut, he will see you and run forward. When he is in the corner, just use the switching hook. Is it that hard? :O

When reading that post it sounds like you hardly know the game :D. Sorry if I misunderstood it=). What I want is that you post wips more often. If you don't understand what I'm saying, tell me. About that trick: So far I know that's the only useful place to use that on. Lvl 2 hookshot only increase the length of the chain and it's speed, nothing more. It may work on more places thought. Haven't checked up really. Can you tell me a little more specific what you want to know?

Good that it's finally up. Yes, Phil, the run is indeed improveable. Stef has said that he's going to improve it or make an Oracle of Seasons run, first take a break though. But now when Vespa is already working with Seasons he might go for the improvement. It would SUCK to collect the 980 rupees for the bow. This run had been around 8 minutes slower then, at least. And it adds nothing to entertaining in my eyes. But it is entertaining when he steals the bow :D. Diving! EDIT: Hmm, shall it really stand "Link's Awakening DX Speedrun"? Does this stand on every movie...? Why not TAS or similar?

So, now the run is up at last:). And it is lovely! Are you going to improve the glitch run now, Stef? I'm sure it could be improved with some seconds at least.

Going to continue with the improvements now: Dungeon 3. When you slash the second crystal, don't destroy it from below. Instead you shall take it on your way back from the room after taking the key. From Down-Right. I'm playing the harp to kill the bunnies because that's a safe method. But I guess it's faster using bombs instead. Because you'll need the bombs later too, and then you don't need to switch items again. You can kill the moldorm using only one bomb. And don't care to kill the statue with a bomb after bombing the switch, that was just stupid. You'll need to get some bombrefills. There are two places to get them. In the bushes where I get them in the movie. Or els just before the room with the four statues you need to kill. I'm not sure which way is the fastest one. After taking the seed shooter. I'm not 100% I take the fastest way. I think it is faster to go back inside the flying tiles room. I did two timings on this. First, the tile room was slower, and next it was faster. Be sure to check both. The mole can be killed in one cycle. Sometimes he is stupid enough to stay up very long. This only happned once for me, while I recorded a speedrun. No tests have been made if it is faster to take the seedupgrade or not. But I will be able to carry more pegasus seeds, so I guess it is faster... Dungeon 4. Faster way to push the colored block at start. On the miniboss, you can make the sword hit him at once at start. Be sure to go back to the pegasus seed tree to refill as often as possible. My way to push the colored blocks in dungeon 5 to get the key is also sucky. Here is a movie of the way you shall do that on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZM4Qp5DPqQ&mode=user&search= Made by E_alert from SDA. My last round on the boss sucks. Don't really know the fastest way yet. You shall fail the last 2 rounds at the dance. It is faster then dancing those too. You can switch the Vine Seed in a faster way as well. It only require two switches. When playing the minigame using the sword to slash the wall so it hit those blue "boxes". Try to get a lot of points at start, and then do some misses. So you still get the points you need, but in a faster way. Also try to manipulate the ball to go as fast as possible if possible=). Dungeon 6. When getting the first key. Use you scent seeds to make the enemies walk down the hole instead of jumping to them and kill them. I think this is faster. The boss sucks... You shall be able to take it much faster using both the sword and the seed shooter at the same time. I and e_alert have been talking quite a lot about this. But did come up with a solution. You don't have to be so stupid as me to go and talk to the Great Fairy Octorok before talking to the king. When you have revived the fairy you shall change time at once. This will make you closer to the cliff so you can jump down into the water. And you will also be in the same time to talk with the king. I have been trying many different routes for dungeon 7... And I'm sure it could be improved, but this is the fastest way I found out. Be sure to switch to the feather before you actually kill the miniboss. To avoid waiting in the entrance of the room. I often forgot this... Just wanted to mention it even if you see it in the movie:). At the boss. When he is attacking you, be as close to him as you can. Because he wont go so far then. I think there is a way to skip a key in dungeon 8. Or at least take a shortcut. in the room with the blue skeletons, one gives you a key. If you are able to manipulate one of them to be on the other side of the blue "spike" things... you won't need to go around as much in the dungeon. Be sure to have enough ember seeds in this dungeon... I took a long detour to get more, which sucked. Here is another nice trick made by e_alert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf6kZx49Pnk I guess you know this, but I didn't :D. It is always the same ladder that the fire goes to. So you don't need to wait for it. Be sure to run whenever you can in the end. Manipulate the boss so it only takes the bee and turtle form so you can use your sword. I think this is all! Thanks to Quijo, e_alert and the people in SDA that helped me point out my improvements in the run. Good luck with your! EDIT: I would like to see your WIP's a little earlier than after 20 minutes. I know a lot of the game and could probably found possible improvements. I sadly haven't found any bugs or sequence breaks in the game. And L+R glitches aren't working either, that sucks :D. Let's see who will finish the run first. My speedrun, or you TAS:). I have just recorded up to the end of dungeon 3.

Here is my Oracle of Ages testrun. As dehacked isn't working for me I had to use a different site instead. Hope it's ok=). I finish the game with a time of 2:52:22. This movie is meant as a speedrun, and has a lot of issues in it. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=8F0E1AA42522E6F6 Some improvements: Rupee route. You need around 80 rupees in the game. You shall be able to get all these by luck. A lot can be get from Maple when getting the potion. And the rest from enemies and bushes that you have to slash. Are you using S&Q warps? That will save a bounch of time. Fairy route. This is the fastest route that you shall use: Right, Down first fairy. Left, up, down, up, down, up second. Up third. When taking the Harp of Ages, jump down instead of taking the stairs. Taking the mystery seeds. I came up with an idea... It may be possible to be damaged boosted over the hole by a moblin instead of taking the long way and burn the bush. Try it!:D Dungeon 2. At the miniboss, sometimes when he does the third drop, he will bounch more times and then you can kill him before he raise again. I have actually no idea when/why he does that. But you shall make him do it anyway... When taking the feather, it is faster to do it my way instead of slashing the sword to avoid getting hit. I'm not sure which way is fastest when you are leaving that underground though. Try both damage boost, and sword slash. When you jump around in the room with the many holes to get the colored tile blue so you can pass with the train, you shall have more than ½ heart here, so you can jump down the hole instead of jumping back. In the end of the dungeon when pushing the colored block. This is by "far" the fastest way. Start with the yellow as I do. But you shall push the blue blocks a different way. I guess you know how=P. I will continue with more improvements later... Need to sleep now. Hope you will enjoy it. Feel free to ask anything you like about the movie. Goodnight, hee.

Oh... no:(. That's sad.. I feel sorry for you. Let's see, 20 minutes... I guess you are in dungeon 2 or similar then? By the way... Do you want me to post my testrun? There are lots to improve from it, but you may learn something interesting...

Yeah, I know you must kill the ropes to open the door... But you killed them twice. You slashed them before you opened the key lock. And when you reentered the room you had to kill them once more. Enemies don't count as "killed" before the, what to say, "smoke" disappear. Understand what I mean now?

Wonderful news then! Both Oracle games! :D YAY Sadly dehacked isn't working for me anymore, but I shall download it tomorrow in school instead. Are you two going to use the same thread for both your runs? EDIT: Made my friend download it for me and send via MSN instead... Why do you swing you sword before entering the village after beaten dungeon 1? Is this to avoid it being winter in the village or...? That's the only reason I can find out:). It was a little bit pointless to kill the ropes before taking the power bracelet as they came back again... Manipulate the bat's movement before the movie ends? You slowed down a bit. Good anyway! It's hard to manipulate the enemies in these games, if you ask me. And Theenglishman, mostly all TAS's are avoiding getting hurt except when it's worth it. Doing a "no damage" run of Oracle of Ages will only invold that you don't fall down into a pit to save some seconds. Or els you shall not be damaged anywhere, not what I can think of at the moment though. So I think you shall do a normal run anyway, because the differences are too small. Anyway, you shall fix your signature that you are doing Oracle of Ages instead of Seasons=).

Good that you both are working with the runs though. I'm looking forward to see some WIP's if you are going to post any. And I would like to help as much as I can!
