I bet you got 2015 gems on purpose because you just caught up with the WIP two years ago (Though you made this post 5 days too early). Well... what to say, what to say... Just amazing!

Here's a list with a couple of them: https://pastebin.com/MznXhcB4 Still lots missing, but you can at least find SMW in there. I tried to find one for GS as well, but failed to do so. Quite often, you can find a Discord server to a game linked from the leaderboard at http://www.speedrun.com/ often in the game's forum section or resources. There's also a server for general speedrunning, where the pastebin list came from, as I failed to find where the bigger list is: https://discordapp.com/invite/0SarUu3yU9CibytG

Many PAL games have different physics in some way, as the character is often sped up to "match" the speed of NTSC. Other examples are Super Mario World and A Link to the Past. How different do the versions have to be for them to be "two different games"? Are the differences themselves enough, or do they have to be faster than the NTSC strats? I personally see no real difference in SMB compared to Super Mario World, where you could do several tricks and timesavers in the PAL version that are not possible in NTSC. The only thing is that the PAL run will still has a slower finish time. So if this SMB run will be published because it has different physics, then so should PAL ALttP and SMW and so on.

This is a great announcement and one I wasn't really expecting! Seems you've been doing great so far in the run. This will be an amazing TAS!

Great to see this finished! Now I won't feel bad that I never finished my own run of this. I'll probably watch this next week when I get back home.

I'm quite curious why you didn't just use the Banzai Bill in YI1 instead of waiting 200 time units for the glitch? You can easily hit it by scrolling the screen to the left for example. Even though fastest possible time was not a top priority, I feel like it's a huge unneccesary waste of time... I have yet not watched further than this.

I only watched some of it, while I don't know the GBA physics well enough to judge the optimisation level of this run, I did manage to save 14 frames up to where the first level starts. And I did notice several spots which were sloppy for a TAS. No idea what the scale is in total however. Oh well. =)

Very nice to see that someone is picking up this game! I had several plans to get back to it again, but never did. I've tried to watch the latest WIP I made, but I can't get it to sync with any VBA version I've tried so far, so I don't know... Keep it up!

You could do it in the All-Stars version simply by starting from a save file that has a frog suit in the inventory.

Welcome back! And a great comeback as well. One of the nicest TASes around, this game. <3

Yay for reviving 12½ years old topics! Here's a WIP that is a few years old, going up to the Gas Station Boss, which was too annoying for me to optimise at the time. Anyone is free to continue the run: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/39137159681720442

Just posting my latest WIP here, which is only a little further than the above one. Feel free to continue, anyone: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/39136993935098255

Seems like this is the only topic that exists? I started an improvement to Dooty's run awhile ago, but quickly stopped because of the first miniboss... I'm not sure if I'll continue this or not at its current state, so I might as well share my WIP: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/39136928666148000 It is 16 frames faster up to the miniboss, but has a bad pattern. I also lost a lot of time from extra lag in the first level, which could maybe be avoided, even though I failed...

Nope, I had no idea. Oh well, my loss I guess, too late to change now :).

While I know that some people don't like this: Run is done. I'll stream it tomorrow, 3PM EST at http://www.twitch.tv/tompa I'll afterwards hopefully have the submission fully ready. Otherwise I'll submit and edit the text afterwards.

I do/kinda plan to continue this run, even though I barely have after that WIP. One reason was that I accidently deleted my watch file, and I lost motivation and was to lazy to find my addresses again. But yeah... Not sure when I'll continue, too busy with other things all the time. So feel free to take over I guess.

I never use any of them. If I want to edit a file, I either open up the file in a text editor, when possible, or use the TAS Movie Editor. Mostly because I'm not used to use it and like my traditional way of TASing.
