I'm having trouble viewing this video. Most of the sprites and backgrounds smear out when scrolling. In rooms which stand still, like boss rooms, everything looks fine. Any special codec needed?

Is this the same as the beta 9c which some of us have been using, or has something been changed? I'm thinking both of if I need to download it again and about the bug report I pm:ed you (which I never got a reply for). In any case the frame counter and frame advance are the greatest addition yet. It helps a load when making movies. Everybody doing Gens movies here should check into it.

This video seems to have lost its star. Since this isn't the first time it has happened, I'm guessing that stars are not automatically transfered when obsoleting a movie with a star. Shouldn't they be?

How did you play the second controller? With your feet?

>My suspicion is that the bounce adds the same amount of velocity, and the faster falling speed thus makes the bounce faster. Well... it seems we are talking past each other, because this is the same thing I was trying to say.

I'm not a fan of doing only one level, but it's faster and more brutal than the current one, so it deserves to be published.

I'm not sure... the logical thing (from a programmer's perspective) is to give the same boost every time. Maybe the total speed is higher since your previous speed was higher? I will add a note about it anyway, together with the berzerker findings.

Okay, posting some info, somewhat for the sake of M.I. Hopefully someone will get this run done properly soon. The record times according to TSC are: Emerald Hill 1: 0:20 Emerald Hill 2: 0:38 Chemical Plant 1: 0:22 Chemical Plant 2: 0:53 Aquatic Ruin 1: 0:24 Aquatic Ruin 2: 0:43 Casino Night 1: 0:34 Casino Night 2: 1:05 Hill Top 1: 0:48 Hill Top 2: 1:03 Mystic Cave 1: 0:40 Mystic Cave 2: 0:49 Oil Ocean 1: 0:38 Oil Ocean 2: 0:59 Metropolis 1: 1:12 Metropolis 2: 1:30 Metropolis 3: 2:33 Wing Fortress: 1:56 Death Egg: 0:49 All of your times were slower except for Metropolis 3. For the Oil Ocean levels, more than a minute slower per level. A run which doesn't beat or match all of these times has pretty much zero chance of being published on this site. Any other takers for this game? Seems like there's a curse over it or something.

This video had the same abrupt stop as you touched the last flag. Shame on you. >:P Elsewhere thinking: "Why is he moving backw... oh, you can do that?" Rake up another blow for the short version there. The danger of trusting a previous moviemaker shows it ugly face again. Nice about all the other improvements, but please don't wear you out by redoing to too many times. There's another 70 levels to go you know... :D

The beams are instant kill. On the two others he is hurt from normal enemy shots, so he can pass trough them. This wasn't possible on the last one. Says so in the submission text, actually.

With savestates you have the option to learn a level, record it, learn the next one, etc. Speedrunning people usually don't have that option, they have to play it all at once and therefore practice a lot beforehand. If there are any planning issues (like where to pick up which item) it's better to have a plan in advance though. And it's not like extensive knowledge of the game hurts ;)

It looks like the evil copy agent screwed something up again. I was looking trough the submissions and just happened to come across "The Lion King - Ouzo's". Apparently, it was submitted today... four times. http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?id=527 http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?id=528 http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?id=529 http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?id=530 But for some reason, none of these show up in the recent changes. Additionally, no topics were created in the workbench forum. The submission text formatting is a bit weird, but that could be the fault of the author and not necessarily related.

I agree with Walker Boh mostly. Do the 5 tracks, not some track you made yourself. Unless you can replace the training track with it. Recognition and nostalgia is a big factor, with some random track it wouldn't be as fun.

If it's a lousy 3 frames, cool trick for me. Another thing I thought of: it's possible to save about 80 frames by taking one point of damage in HWP1. I know that you're going by level time (and I think you should), I'm just telling.

>Now when you play back the movie, it'll get past the title screen then pause the game or whatever other stupid thing you did after loading from slot 1. This is NOT the correct result; If I understand your example correctly, it IS the correct result. Every emulator except for possibly SNES9X works this way. Loading a snapshots after your current movie position will break your movie.

Wohoo, finally someone willing to pick up this one. Please do the rest too if you can make the other tracks as fast as possible even though there are other bikes in the way. The previous video also looped at the last jump, if I remember correctly.

Well, after just watching the first level (0:38) it's obvious that this is not even the same zip code as good. My only hope is that submission will make someone make a serious attempt.

>A movie should ONLY be judged on the quality of the run, never that of the game Totally wrong. From the guidelines:
Select your game well. Not all games have potential for entertaining movies.

I haven't played this game or watched this movie. Why are so many people making movies for a game which everybody obviously thinks is crap? I mean, there are good genesis Shinobi games which still haven't got any published runs...

The player 2 bug is a big minus for the US version, but I would say go for it anyway. The difficulty is what makes this game interesting. Probably a lot of people would be turned off if Battletoads was done on an easier version than they remembered. Oh, and the video so far was great. Very funny in many places too.

Nice that you finally submitted this. I was about to ask if you forgot about it... This run has gone trough a lot of refinement from a first rather rough version, and turned out very nice. You have certainly deserved my yes vote.

Sorry to hear that the hexediting failed. Even if USM2 was good, your new goal is probably a lot easier to follow and implement. I'm glad you made that change.
