Let's hope so, because I have an old game I'd like to have the title for too. - It's NES. It's an overhead shooter. It's in space. - The stages are numbered Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc. - There is only one powerup, which looks like a smaller variant of your own ship. When you grab it you get faster and fire more, but the enemies also become faster. - You can only take one hit. Anyone who knows?

Is it the same Alien 3 as for Megadrive, or some other Alien 3? If it's the same I think it could be fun (don't know how long it is though), otherwise I have no idea.

It's RESCUE, or maybe it's called something similar. You are not a ninja, but a antiterrorist special forces soldier. There are, as you say, different modes of play: getting past the search lights, sniping at the windows, scaling the building and then going in to free the hostage. Edit: The full name of the game is "Rescue: The Embassy Mission".

Sorry 12Motion, I think you are wrong. Speed running was huge already in Doom days. Besides, almost noone uses emulators for speed running, they use original consoles and vcrs. Tool-assisted speed runs though, obviously didn't predate emulators.

I could be wrong, but there probably isn't a perfect route worked out. Which is why you'll have to do it yourself (with the help of anyone willing).

Probably not, since it's the first time it's been brought up. Why don't you try one yourself?

Wasn't it because the other robot was called Roll? You know, Rock and Roll? Even though people are messing with you, yes, Mega Man is the USA/EU version of the Japanese Rockman.

Famicom is Nintendo. Super Famicom is exactly what you think it is.

Digging up this old post because I want to see the rest of the tracks being done. Couldn't someone (Player1?) play trough the rest of the tracks in one long movie, getting similarly fantastic times on all of them? I'd watch it at least. What do people think?

Hey again. I never received an answer for this question. Also, I'd like to know how the restoration is going.

Read before you post strikes again. Second time this week. I'll just shut up until Sunday to punish myself.

No, the problem is not with the codec. There is a known issue with XP that AVI files (in particular, no idea why) sometimes cannot be deleted. I think there's a fix for it somewhere, but that's all I know. You'll have to hunt it down using your detective skills.

No wonder that the new version is taking so long then :) Rockman can't be a nice game to be pasting around sequences in, since the randomness factors for what enemies drop probably change... Like any game with psuedo-random drops (Zelda, Rygar). I can imagine that it would work with Mario or Sonic, or something like that. But you're saying that they managed to do it in RM2 somehow anyway? Luck, or something other?

I don't think that's needed. Seconds are long. 10%, which is 6 frames per second, is slow enough to allow me to do frame-by-frame jumps. 6% is even slower, I don't think you need to go lower than that.

Bah, who needs ten pages of storyline to blow up hellspawn in unpredecented amounts anyway. The storyline of Doom1 was clear enough: kill everything. :> Deviance: >Wolfenstein 3D had a sequel called Spear of Destiny, which takes place before the Wolfenstein 3D story. Lance of Longinus is another name for the Spear of Destiny. What the... wait a minute now. Wasn't Longinus the name of the spear in Evangelion too? Where does this name come from?

>Do I forget any ? I suggested autofire. Is it in the won't make it category? >-Movie comment on screen (don't know how it sould be implemented) should or could? I don't pretend to know programming better than you, but if there's space in the movie header a text string which is displayed along with "Playing xxxxxx.gmv, yyyy rerecords" would do the trick.

Dark Mana: >also as for the weapons not being the same as in doom 1, you obviously hav'nt played doom 1 in awhile. As I said, it's Doom 3 I haven't played yet. (It would be the world's most beautiful slideshow on my computer.) I know most things knowable about Doom 1. :) I never said there weren't identical weapons in 1 and 3, I only said that they are different. Having played Doom 1 probably doesn't make Doom 3 any more easy than having played any other FPS does. Locke: >The invasion was prevented in Doom 3 when you kill the cyberdemon and the soul cube seals off hell, so why would there be an expansion with an invasion of Earth? Well, killing the Spider Mastermind in Doom 1 was supposed to have stopped the critters too, but we all know what happened then. >:)

Zurreco, you're talking out of your nether regions. The levels, monsters and weapons are not the same in Doom 1 and 3. The only thing they kept is the storyline. That is, Doom 3 does not happen after 1 and 2, it has the same story as 1. Probably Doom3 isn't very speed-running friendly. Haven't played it yet though.

Some comments on the current video (I don't know this game very good, just some thoughts): - The big blue flying insect, can't you charge up your cannon for the first shot? (Or does it slow down the rest of the shots?) - For the mandatory damage scenes, could it be faster to suck up damage along the way to the boss? (Or does the boss kill you faster than the enemies?) - One of the hits on Chill Penguin (in the Sigma levels) seem to be a bit late. That's all I can think of.

I haven't seen this video, but is it only me that thinks that five minutes seems like very little improvement in a one-hour video?

Even though this is very well played, it uses a secret button combination to get to the last boss. AFAIK runs which do that have been rejected in the past.
