Lookin' good! I liked the jump over the alien (never works when playing the game normally) and that you got to use the machinegun on the boss.

Whelkman: You seem to have some good ideas and knowledge on the area. Get equipped with Wiki Edit Abilities. Ask Bisqwit, DeHackEd or adelikat to fix it for you.

>If we assume that the Six Degrees concept is correct, what happens to the number of "degrees" as the population increases? I would intuitively think that the number decreases, but I'm wondering if it stays the same, or even gets higher. If we assume that the Wikipedia article is correct, the number of links needed increases as the population increases. The page poses that in a population of US size (which is, actually, smaller than the world), only 3 links are needed. That it would be the other way around sounds completely illogical to me.

You have a couple of unfinished motorbike riding levels in Streets of Rage 3, and a hidden cellar floor which is unreachable usually. http://soronline.classicgaming.gamespy.com/sor3_unfinlevels.htm There is some leftover stuff in Kid Chameleon - unreachable areas in levels, unused music, helmet jingles, and sprites. It's spread out over this wiki: http://kidchameleon.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Hehe, interesting. I think the difficulty in 0003 needs to be toned up a bit though ... Final time: 4'46''07 Final score: -2147483648pts ... negative score? No such fantastic score on 0002 version though.

I think your submission should at least contain the word "Julius" somewhere... I liked it. I would have liked it more if my VBA didn't run at 54%, with turbo.

>They just can't recognize the true value of this run and the many hard techs that costed me alot of work to perform, since they never tried to do them on their own to understand that. - Do you think that judges should try to perform the "hard techs" in a movie before they can reject it? - Do you think that how hard it is to perform a tech rather than how nice the end result is should be the basis for acceptance? - Do you think that how much time it took to produce a movie should be a factor when judging a movie? I don't actually need answers to these questions. Now that you have insulted my intellect, I see the errors of my ways. I will accept this movie immediately.

If it makes you feel any better Saturn, I would also have rejected this movie if I had judged it.

I am using 1.14, but I managed to fix the graphics issues anyway (set Overlay to None). Thanks for letting me know about the version, it didn't show up until I made the window bigger. I'll be back with comments on the run later. ---- EDIT: I have watched about half of it now. It does not look that great... the main problems I see are pathing, for example choosing the right side of wide doors when changing rooms, and boss fights. The best strategy might not be obvious, but the timing of hits which should be easy seem to be off. I wouldn't say that this is publishable in it's current state.

I had a problem, but it's gone. I'll put this here anyway. Problem: Dega shows a black screen whenever I load a game. There is music and everything, and even screenshots work alright, but no option seems to affect the black screen. I have tried going in and out of full screen, changing scale, and Overlay. Solution: Change Overlay from RGB to None. I could swear I tried this before, but now it works anyway.

I would really like to watch this, but Dega shows a black screen whenever I load a game. There is music and everything, and even screenshots work alright, but no option seems to affect the black screen... :( Time to go to the Dega forum I guess... I'm guessing it's since I switched to Vista.

This issue seems to have come from nowhere all of a sudden. No real changes has been made that we are aware of.
This thread seems relevant to my interests. I have Vista on a brand new laptop, and it was running like clockwork until a few weeks ago. Then suddenly it started chugging like a snail. I am pretty sure that I didn't install anything in the period where it happened. I cannot run VBA without it (most of all the sound) lagging anymore. This was especially obvious when it happened since I had been playing through Aria of Sorrow just the days before without any problems whatsoever... Also, the CPU load can be 100% without anything heavy running, and without the Processes tab in Task Manager anywhere near to summing up to 100%. Help! :(

Finally! We have something to argue about again! Here is a funny (maybe?) idea: give stars to movies based on user votes. Which voters affect the star ranking is unknown to both themselves and other users. Bisqwit selects which voters contributes to the star ranking, but cannot elect himself.

I watched it, and it looks like publishable quality to me. My tip is to finish one version before starting to redo the whole thing. This way you'll have something to compare to everywhere and a sense of completing something. But a lot of people seem okay with redoing at any point, so do whatever suits you best.

Looks great! Curious about only one thing: why don't you use the samurai haze earlier when on top of the third head? As in, at once? Also, it looks like you can start a strike before the jump at 57258, but perhaps that doesn't help.

Hmm, I said I would watch this, but I get desynch in the fourth room. :/ My ROM name and crc match, and left+right is on. But I remember reading that the crc matching in VBA isn't that great and gives false positives... I will see if another ROM works. ---- It was asked what emulator I was using, and I had been using v19 by mistake. Fired up v20, and... i still get the exact same desynch. Eh. ---- Problem solved. It was the ROM. The crc check in VBA really needs to be fixed... anyway, all set for watching.

Thanks for the notice on 6-11, I'll fix that. And for the votes! About the axes, see my reply in the thread for the other submission.

>Nice dancing after offing Medusaform. Mmm. :D I'll try to answer to answer your questions about the axes. First off, the time that can be saved against Elizabeth 2 by use of more axes is small: just 3 frames per hit, and maximum 8 hits. That's 24 frames. Not picking up crystals does not save any time, because we (almost) only picked up the ones where we were forced to jump anyway. The only exception i can think of is a jump in 4-9, which gives 7 crystals. For spear dude, the first inoptimized green stuff test we did was 230 frames faster than our optimized axe test. This convinced us that the axe was out of the question. The final version is 331 frames faster. The reasons the axe is so much slower are many: - The axe doesn't reach the head immediately. The body needs 5 hits before we can start doing actual damage. - No new axe can be thrown until the last one exits the screen. The axe has a very high arc to hit the head. The rate of fire becomes very slow. - Because the boss is destroyed later, he has time to attack. The rubble falling from the ceiling causes considerable lag. Possibly this can be manipulated away. - Using the axe destroys fewer sections during the fight. These have to be destroyed while the boss is sinking, causing much lag. It's possible that Death would be a bit faster with the axe instead of green, but not enough by a long shot. For Whip guy the situation is the same, except for the first point, since we still need to whack the body. But after that it's only 3 hits with the whip, and no delay between hits. Also his Death fight is unaffected by the use of subweapon. Hope that explains it for the refights. If you want I can elaborate on the first fight, but the situation is mostly the same.

Whoa. Some of those hits do sick damage... the third last one does 78 instead of 32 for example. :O I think the weaponswitching is quite fast, right? You should be able to get a few machinegun shots in while the boss jumps and still switch back to the rockets to begin hitting him as he lands.

First three levels now look very good, i can't think of anything to improve. About the boss: i checked his HP while you blasted him with both the machinegun and the flamethrower. The machinegun depletes ammo every 4 frames, the flamethrower every 6 frames. The machinegun does 4 damage, the flamethrower 8. This would give MG: 1 dmg/frame FT: 1.33 dmg/frame but that's not the whole truth. Sometimes the weapons give more damage (up to 17!), and at faster a interval. This is something you need to investigate. Anyway, I think probably flamethrower should be used whereever possible, and machinegun when the boss jumps or when running up to him.

Tub: I see what you mean now, checked the html source of the submission page. There must be something wrong in the wiki2html code, all I wrote was
[http://133an.sytes.net/~truncated/Castlevaniagraph.png] The graph should be interpreted as "How much ahead is Spear dude?".

>You will need the radar in order to produce more advance buildings and units as far as I know. Yes, of course. But the question is: does it need to be on? If the power is only needed to keep the radar showing its picture, you don't need to build more than one windtrap. I don't think the harvester actually harvests faster by clicking: it just updates the numbers more often, in smaller amounts. I cannot promise that's true though, haven't tested. I cannot help, busy with another project now. But I'll be here checking WIPs and giving tips when I can. :)

It is definitely possible to come off the ladders in any direction you want. I started recording from your movie at the first place you get off in the wrong direction: http://65.93.101.29/microstorage.php/get/1048863069/Alien%203%20(UE)%20(REV00)%20%5B!%5D%20-%20Kopia.gmv Just start pressing left or right earlier. ---- From your description, I could deduce that I must have messed up when I tried to monitor the complete health. Put a watch to 00FF1FD6, 2 bytes, signed and you can monitor the whole boss health at once. It starts out at 1000 HP.

I can only speak for PC Dune 2: in the first 2-3 levels, there is no point whatsoever in building concrete. It just takes credits and increases the number of times you need to harvest spice to meet the quota. For later buildings, it can matter, but often the slower building speed of factories does not matter, because you are still spending credits faster than you can gain them. I'm not even sure windpower does anything other than keeping your radar up (which you don't need in a TAS).
