Hey Tub. I'm not sure what you mean with the HTML (it looks fine to me). If you meant we broke the game, I take it as a compliment.

It sounds good, and I'd like to watch it to give comments, but Microstorage is down. :( It will have to wait, unless you can upload it somewhere else or email it or something (see: tasvideos.org/Truncated.html). ----- Disregard that, DeHackEd put up something temporary at http://65.93.101.29/microstorage.php I'll get back with comments. ----- Comments: - I guess it's faster to shoot the doors rather than opening them? - You often seem to be turned the wrong way when coming off ladders. This is not necessary I think, you can hold the direction you want to go in as you come off the ladder. - 8250, it does not look like you enter the prisoner's platform as soon as possible. Can you jump in there instead of walking? - 9020, is it faster to jump into the hole? - 16950, you seem very slow to get off the platform. Why not jump? I tried to find the memory position for the boss health, but didn't manage. 00FF1FD7, 1 byte, unsigned, is somehow related. Something like this: machinegun = 4 flamethrower = 8 rocket = 32 grenade = 32 You also need to figure out how fast they damage the boss, at what interval.

Hey, I still only get the 16 levels with the movie you posted now (which is the same adress as previously). Did you post the wrong link, forgot to upload the new version, or is something wrong on my end?

Found this, for reference. A tool-assisted run of the Genesis game, to see what it could look like. 33 minutes long. http://www.speedruns.net/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/Itemid,309/catid,31/id,50/

zggzdydp: Sorry for keeping you waiting. :) What timesavers have you found? It would be very interesting to know. nineko: Thanks for both of your encodes. It's nice to have them on the harddrive since you never know if your movie will be accepted or not. Samhain-Grim's name is misspelled in both the filenames (sahmain-grim), but it is correct in the subtitles, so it's easy to fix. If you wish to become an encoder, or complain about the slow management around here, I suggest you start a new thread in the Sites forum instead. To everyone else who voted, you makes me happy happy joy joy. :)

Thanks (kl)mz for watching and voting! Sir VG, what I can tell you is this: for some reason, the axe crash starts the AI script for the armor bosses to retreat. They will continue to do this until some other action causes them to do something else. For example, as seen in 5-6, where we attack him with the spear so he stops retreating. If left alone, he will retreat until he is so far off the screen that the game decides that something went wrong and removes him. You can do this against the subboss in 5-6 too, and he does get removed (you get points), but the exit does not open this way. Hope that clears it up somewhat. Honestly we don't know for sure what happens and why.

I am no master of finishing what i start either, but I'm pretty sure you can do it if you want to. Don't let yourself get dragged into the "i'm worthless and this will never work and i can never finish it..." I hope someone else will pick this up in any case. Any takers?

I'd be very surprised if it's not Jesus. If it indeed isn't Jesus, then I would really like to know why.
No, he said anybody that ever existed. :) Sorry, just had to...I'll stop now.

That's sad to hear. :/ Is the latest version the one linked in your signature?

Apo123: I didn't just say it was rejected because it wasn't good enough, I also strongly suggested that this game should be run on Genesis. It is the same setup with weapons, crawling in corridors, and rescuing people. But with much better graphics and sound and everything. Your movie looked okay, the part i saw, but please take the above into consideration.

I have also had the problem Ferret describes. I am not sure what caused it, but I can't remember using RAM search. About all I can remember is that Gens had been on in the background for some time without me using it, and when I came back it was locked up.

When switching to full-sceen, FCEUx crashes. This is on Vista. Specifically what I did was: 1. Start FCEUx 2. Open Legend of Zelda PRG0 3. Start play-back of Baxter's and Morrison's new movie 4. Press Alt-Enter to go into fullscreen This is the error report (in Swedish. sorry.): Problemsignatur: Problemhändelsens namn: APPCRASH Programnamn: fceux.exe Programversion: 0.0.0.0 Programtidsstämpel: 48aa4e53 Namn på felmodul: fceux.exe Modulens version: 0.0.0.0 Tidsstämpel för felmodul: 48aa4e53 Undantagskod: c0000005 Undantagsförskjutning: 00088bbb OS-version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Språkvariant-ID: 1053 Ytterligare information 1: fd00 Ytterligare information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Ytterligare information 3: fd00 Ytterligare information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Any other info you need I will be happy to give you.

At first I was going to say that this is the wrong game, the robot looks nothing like I remembered and doesn't get as big as I remembered, but now I see that the red/blue ball powerups are extremely familiar... so I'm betting my memory is just warped and that this is the game. This is the second time you've known one of the games I've searched for... thanks a lot! :)

I feel a little guilty since I never know any games anyone else asks for... but I have two arcade games that I would like to find... Game 1: Platform game. You are some sort of white bulky robot, walking to the right in a tunnel. I think you attack by shooting some sort of missiles, possibly some other projectile. There is some sort of powerup which makes you larger, like twice the size. I remember thinking that this made it near impossible to dodge enemies. This game has to be really, really old. I think i saw it around 1988-90 somewhere. Game 2: This is some sort of platform fighting game. The defining trait is that you change between different characters (maybe the bosses you beat?). I remember only one stage, which was on clouds. I also remember only one character, which was - male - green in clothing - possibly had a visor or similar - moved forward by somersaulting/cartwheeling - had a really short attack, i think he attacked with a horizontal "judo chop" This game is later. Maybe mid-early nineties?

I'd just like to add (again) that I'd very much like to see this game done. Looking forward to it.

Cheating will get you everywhere: ... so you're not going to get this time bonus no matter how hard you try. I think your current attempt looks good. EDIT: This was done by setting the player's position with Game Genie. For this level, FF24FE:035F (vertically) and FF24FA:0891 (horizontally). The stuff before the colon is the adress you want to set. The stuff behind is the position in pixels (in hex) counting from the top left corner of the level. It's easy to get yourself killed, so check in advance where you want to be teleported.

I approve of this game. A friend of me had it, actually, and for the longest time we couldn't beat the first boss. After we finally got lucky and beat him, the rest of the game was a cakewalk. Anyway, the movie had some nice tricks. I wonder though, if it is not possible to take more damage, since it seems to boost you, and also decrease the score counting at the end of each level?

This naming system has been in GENS for years and is a good system.
I disagree with this. This was the first thing I turned off. Examples: - I cannot load a savestate for testing something in the game without recording over the previous movie. Once I stop recording, all the savestates are gone. - I cannot make a copy of a movie to try something different at the end. This movie has no savestates. - I cannot play any backup movies I have unless I copy the 10 savestates for every backup versio I want to review. If I really, really want 2 different sets of savestates, I make a copy of the ROM instead. I am very grateful that this is an option and can be turned off.

Couldn't you have used entertainment as your cost function instead?

I have a similar bug to Phil. Whenever I load a ROM and then select "Replay movie", FCEUX locks up and after a while displays the same error message twice: "FCM File format is no longer supported. Please use Tools > Convert FCM" After this, though, the movie replay dialog comes up like i suppose it's supposed to. But the recent Trojan and Hogan's alley both desynch, despite having the correct checksums. Requests: - Autoselect the .nes files in a zip file. As it is now I need to select the ROM file anytime I open a zip since all of them contain a readme.txt or similar. - Default to read-only in the movie play dialog, or at least remember my choice.

This is better than the previous attempts, but still pretty boring to watch. Especially the bosses, and the bland levels. I still vote No for this game.

Should I report 10a bugs in this thread? - Even with background input turned off, Gens accepts background input! The input it accepts is specifically shift key, bound to frame advance. - Gens 10a no longer seems to differentiate between right shift and left shift, which 9.5c did. Request: - Do not include a .cfg file that overwrites the user's settings (key bindings, directories, etc).

Looks good to me, other than what Aqfaq already pointed out. I like the game choice. It looks like the character moves slower when you jump, but you seem to already minimize jumping.
