I agree with Baxter, for reasons you already know. (But I can repeat them if you feel that it would be interesting.) Moreover, I think that your debating style in this thread has been deplorable. :/

Thanks FODA and IronSlayer, that appears to be the game I'm looking for. Seems like I remembered most of it right at least... too bad I can't play it, since it seems to be arcade only. I looked through the other requests, but none of them seem to be any games I know...

I'm in a rush, but http://tasvideos.org/KidChameleonTricks.html has been updated with new info on the different modes of transportation. More to come.

I played a side-scrolling beat'em up at an arcade several years ago. The things I can remember was: * You could hit the opponents lying down by pressing the kick, or possibly jump button. The game gave instructions on how to do this when the opportunity appeared. * There were weapons you could pick up, and one was a bucket, which when thrown on a bad guy got stuck on his head and blinded his sight for a few moments. * There was a boss (on a train? perhaps.) carrying a cylindrical saw which (when he missed a swing?) accidentally got stuck in the ground. That's really all i can remember. Any ideas?

emu: I have all of Josh's old files, I can put them up if you (or anyone) is interested. RandomPie: Most levels visited without revisiting levels was decided upon as a sensible goal when Josh did his movie, but it's not up to me to decide how you should do your movie. I'll be happy to help with helmet selection later, but it helps to have a movie before that.

>This savings, it seems to me, would be dwarfed by the realtime savings of NTSC emulation (i.e. the game running 16.7% faster). Just because the game shows more frames per second doesn't mean it's faster. The speed of the character/enemies is sometimes adjusted so that they run the same speed in meters/second on both systems. I'm not completely sure which it is for Rygar, but a quick test showed that 1) NTSC and PAL Rygars walk at the approximate same speed 2) NTSC Rygar climbs a lot faster 3) PAL Rygar is less affected by gravity when he jumps and lands later. You can always TAS the first stage in both games and see which is faster (in seconds, not frames).

emu: I missed your post, saw it now. The movie looks well made, let me know if you need any help. RandomPie: Cool strategy, I think this can change the way a lot of levels are played. More!

Do you use your major bias for good, or for awesome?

>The door that leads to the "normal" route. May I ask why? I think if you are going to show all the strange little things in this game, why not one of the secret areas? Is it because you manage to break the door in an unorthodox way? I liked how you showed that you are unhittable for some time when the scene starts. You can roll through the door in the next set, if you start rolling up just before input is locked.

>has anyone figured out what circumstances make the robots in Stage 6 explode? I'm also not sure I understand your question, this is what I can gather from experience: 1) Which robots explode is predetermined and the same robots explode every game. 2) The robots don't start to explode unless they are close to you. I will happily be proven wrong about these two. It might also have something to do with their health, but of that I am less certain. I think the doors cannot be hit directly, it takes some time. Which door did you choose?

>Is there any non-pornographic console (only including those being possible to TAS) game where there is nudity, even if briefly? Women in very tiny clothing surely, but nudity per se? I seem to remember that at least some FF game, at least the original uncensored Japanese version, had some fiend with bare breasts or something like that? Try Sega Genesis, the Japanese version of Mystic Defender (called Kujaku-oh 2, I think). The lady you save at the end is completely nude. EDIT: I appear to misremember, after watching Aqfaq's new Mystic Defender (U) movie, it seems that the lady is naked also in that version.

Checking the intro screen, the correct name is Ruuto, not Ruto, so GameFAQs has is wrong. About the game/movie, I didn't find it that interesting, and most definitely not your best TAS. Not very interesting level design or bosses. The castles were the best, when you actually had to jump back and forth and there was something to do other than run forward. The visuals were a little too diabetic-inducing for be.

for zggzdydp, since noone gave a proper explanation: gay = homosexual guy = person, man I know it's confusing, because gay sounds more like [gey] when pronounced, and guy sounds more like [gay].

Atro city is back? Hoeray! The boss fight looks better than great, go on with ninja ass-kicking in the next level.

>First of all, EVERYONE can keep up with the screen scrolling. Max's walking speed is the same speed that the screen scrolls, and since everyone else walks faster than Max, they can all keep up. The point is you want to be ahead of the screen. So you can kill the enemies before the screen stops scrolling. Just keeping up isn't enough. I agree about Entertainment/Speed tradeoffs. I disagree about the glitch though. I haven't tried it out for myself, but you need at least two enemies and both players to execute it. Thus it can't be used on most bosses. My guess is that it also ends when one enemy dies. The characters seems to freeze afterwards (perhaps it can be canceled out of), so it wouldn't be worth using all the time. ... now we just need someone to actually record the movie.

>I thought the original Streets of Rage movies were really boring/shouldn't have been published, and this seems to follow that trend quite nicely. Don't be a tuna head! Voting yes.

hazeus: A 100% run for this game would be running around collecting money more or less constantly. I doubt it would very interesting. We're a bit short on good SMS games on this site, so your suggestion for 10 best games would be interesting.

So what suggestions do we have here for point 4 in the list above? a) movie id. Not liked by Bisqwit, and as such not likely to be implemented. b) version id, branch specific. Tricky with obsoletion chains. Difficult to automate. c) date. Which I think leaves only date. So what needs to be done next to implement this? Bisqwit, you are the site maintainer, it sort of has to start with you. Is there anything we can do to help with this?

I also vote no. I loved Mario Kart, but this doesn't come close. The platforming sequences weren't great either.

I was very disappointed... to find out that burning mode did not include actual burning, only sprite flickering. :( It was also a bit long, but there was some nice glitches at least. A yes vote is within reach.

moozooh> (stuff) You make a good point. A minor irritant is that movie number does not sort accurately unless we pad it with zeroes. The date probably makes more sense to the average person who could come across the file. Either way is fine probably. What does everyone think? adelikat> That sounds like a cumbersome task though. The renaming (and future naming? we can hope.) can be automated because the server already knows 1, 2, 4 and 5. The branch might not always be correct for older movies, since it was introduced later.

From http://rory.sharp.fm/rites/2005/04/noon_to_midnight_12pm_12am.html : >12:00pm is the same as midday (or noon), and is preceded by 11:00am, and is followed, an hour later, by 1:00pm. ... we need a "Making the 12-hour system suck less" topic as well.

>all previous movies are also changed at the same time; for consistency. This was my hope also. I think we are converging at some kind of best suggestion here: 1. abbreviated gamename 2. 'tas' 3. goals, if there is more than one branch 4. date in YYYYMMDD (not version, as has been pointed out) 5. abbreviated player(s), separated by commas ",". order of players not important. These 5 are separated by dashes, "-". No spaces. Only lowercase and numbers. Underscore permitted. We need a list/database for the publishers so that there is only one agreed upon abbreviation for every previously published game and player. Branch is easy when obsoleting. Examples from this topic (dates are made up): * rockmanandforte-tas-100cd-20061225-parrot14green * rockmanandforte-tas-20021030-gigafrost * darkwingduck-tas-20070824-ans,randil * superdemoworld_tlc-tas-20060630-skamasta,fabian,jimsfriend,jxq * sonic3knuckles-sonic_noemeralds-20070516-nitsuja * sonic3knuckles-knuckles_allemeralds-20050324-upthorn Does all this sound sane, or is there anything I missed?
